Another salad supper. (Weather is finally cooling down today.) I made a little extra bacon so I could have a couple of rashers for breakfast this morning.

I've got both. I've actually decided I prefer Hellman's. Go figure.

@zend, I wouldn't have thought to use cumin powder on liver. Is that the only spice you use on it? I'm one of those rare people who love liver!!

At first glance, I thought that said "human clams" and I couldn't figure out what on earth!! 🤣

Had a baked potato. Did not take a photo of the finished product, but these were the topping I was assembling: spinach, arugula, onion, butter, bit of hot paprika, bit of smoked paprika, salt. And topped with shredded cheddar.

@Shelby, yes those little pretzel bits are delicious!! I wish I could buy just a bag of them!! Your dinners look fantastic!!

I was gifted a few bagged salad kits, so had one last night with added tomatoes and cheddar for a quick supper so I could watch the Celtics on TV for the first time this (pre)season. Salad was OK (smoke flavoring was a bit too) but the Celtics were dynamite!

An insanely bad day/week. Supper was vintage penne (found in the back of the cupboard) with leftover canned chili. Not great. Not horrible. Lots of leftovers. Sigh. Don't judge.

Not an especially great-looking photo and a supper best eaten alone. Baguette, a bit of cheddar, brie, tomato, spinach, arugula and olive oil. My teeth felt like they were coated with gooey cheese and greens.

The Physics of Cooking Dried Pasta: Methods Old and New
Maison Rustique replied to a topic in Cooking
Not to step into the middle of the debate/arguments, but my microwave in both houses is over the range. I would find it very difficult to reach up to remove anything with a significant amount of hot water/food without spilling or dropping it. -
@rotuts, reading your pasta description, it took me a while to realize you didn't mean Campari the liqueur, but you meant Campari tomatoes.

No photo. Still making instant food and will be until I get moved and settled. Had a baked potato stuffed with chili*, onion and shredded cheddar. *The chili was canned--Yellowstone brand, which I'd never heard of and had to try. Yes, it is owned by Paramount, though there are a couple of different manufacturers of the actual chili. It was about as good as canned chili ever is. I keep trying different brands hoping to find one I love, but nothing yet. I need to remember next time I make chili to freeze leftovers in small quantities so I can take one out for a chili dog or baked potato. I generally just freeze a couple of large bags that are enough for about 4 bowls, so too much for that.

For what was hopefully the last of our hot weather for a while, I had a stuffed tomato (I've only got 2 home-grown left!) with one of my tinned fish meals. I didn't like this fish as much as the previous, which was Barcelona, but it was still tasty. I've still got the Provence/Nicoise version to go and plan to get some more of these to keep on hand. I haven't yet tried one on rice or pasta, but think they would be great. Or perhaps over a toasted baguette slice.

It was so good the other night that I had it again.

Sourdough bread confession and attempted breakout.
Maison Rustique replied to a topic in Pastry & Baking
I was given a starter from a friend (she made it from scratch) who passed away a few years ago so it is special. With all the moving stuff, I did not have time to maintain it, so dried it. I'm anxious to re-hydrate and try it after I get moved. -
I ordered this from my milkman. I honestly do not like this pizza but it was convenient so I got it and had a couple of small pieces of it last night. Shakespeare's is in Columbia, MO, home of MU. All my MU alumni friends/family love this pizza and I can only attribute it to good times getting drunk there because I find little to like about it--the meats on it are tasty, but the rest not. My sis was crying when I told her I got it. They are coming to help me this weekend--I'll save the leftovers for her. I only got it because I didn't want to go pick up a pizza somewhere and the only other pizza the milkman has is a cracker crust type thing that is even worse than this.

I saw something earlier online about freeze-dried fruit from TJ and other sources, too, but not sure now where I saw it. Why are we having so darned many recalls!!

Lovely evening at friends' last night. They served a delicious Roman Cacciatore with Potatoes (link to recipe follows), some sliced tomato I harvested at my sister's last week and nice Bourgogne Blanc to go with. One Pot Roman Cacciatore And my friend Dave also sent me home with a container of chili he made yesterday. Yum!

Spinach, home-grown tomato, onion, blue cheese, pepitas. We have a bit of a heat wave going again now that it is autumn, so I am using all these tomatoes and thinking light.

I did see on the Amazon listing that it shows several recipes from the book, too.
