Tonight, Progresso cream of mushroom soup. Two nights ago Progresso minestrone. I cherished every kidney bean.

Thanks @lemniscate (and thanks also to @Margaret Pilgrim). I may try the Hakubaku.

I would ask how Momofuku ramen compares with Ichiran, which is what I'm having tonight, as originally enabled by @Duvel. From the pictures Momofuku noodles appear wider and thicker than Ichiran noodles. I wish quality noodles for ramen could be purchased without sauce or flavor packets. If they can I have not found them on amazon.

@Ann_T I don't see how you do it.

I have noticed cooks in some local Chinese restaurants* are actually Mexican. Likewise cooks in some local Japanese restaurants, as I am informed by a Chinese source, are really Chinese emigrants who speak his local dialect. Why should it matter as long as long as the cooks can cook? It's been about five hundred years since an Aztec blogger commented on the customs of Japanese immigrants. *local Italian restaurants as well.

I've been to the HMart in Edison. Is that the same one? -
Salt and vinegar levels in fermentation/a little poison is ok
JoNorvelleWalker replied to a topic in Cooking
I'm enjoying some apricot kernels as we speak. Probably not the worst thing in my diet. But bear in mind some poisons kill in exceedingly small doses. -
Seldom do I eat at a restaurant but my granddaughter is moving back to South Carolina: Crispy Tangerine Flounder for my son. Lobster, eel, avocado roll for me. Sushi for my granddaughter. Seaweed Salad for my granddaughter's girlfriend. My daughter-in-law also had sushi, but by the time I got to her plate it was too late.

Best ways to cook head-on shrimp/prawns/whatever you call them?
JoNorvelleWalker replied to a topic in Cooking
I used to have a head on shrimp as a pet, so I don't eat them. -

Baking with Myhrvold's "Modernist Bread: The Art and Science"

I also have a large (as well as a small) KitchenAid. Modernist Bread has a short discussion of the Ankasrum in the section on types of mixers. -

Vintage Cooking Booklets and Pamphlets
JoNorvelleWalker replied to a topic in Cookbooks & References
You may not remember the old Popeye cartoon where Popeye is selling refrigerators to Inuit. As always things were saved by spinach. The phrase "like selling iceboxes to Eskimos" means something not likely to work. -
It is indeed a paper bag. Nowhere in the GripStic literature that I've found does it say GripStic clips don't work with paper bags. The replacement clips that came today work with paper bags.

Seriously, doesn't that get flour all over your books?

Sadly, Lasagne-Style soup was one of the few Progresso varieties I really did not care for. At least I shall not starve till morning.
-
It was all I could muster, but a most welcome can of Progresso Lasagne-Style soup.

USB? I thought having a spring was high tech.

Ordered. We shall see.

Snacking while eGulleting... (Part 3)
JoNorvelleWalker replied to a topic in Food Traditions & Culture
I can report the nuts.com jumbo Virginia peanuts are much improved tonight. My mai tai is not bad either. I fear some of the drugs I'm taking may be messing with my sense of taste. The pills certainly give me a dry mouth. -
These are the clips I have on order... (eG-friendly Amazon.com link)
-
Could you share a link to what you mean? The zip lock bags I think of are much smaller.
-
I bought the GripStic clips specifically for that bag of Xochitl corn chips. For most bags I use clips I get from King Arthur.
-
I wanted to like the GripStics, I really did. Employing all my strength I couldn't get this one on any further than an inch or so. GripStics are going back. Another brand of clips are on their way from amazon.

I've read reviews, I've watched videos.
