On the topic of ground meat, Shoprite has stopped selling 80/20 ground beef in normal human portions. I asked and was told, going forward 80/20 will only be available in "family packs". The smallest family pack was 2.9 pounds. Fond as I am of Kenji smashburgers, 2.9 pounds makes 12. Three or four nights of smashburgers in a row I can handle, but I have my limits. This is my quandary. My question is what to do with a couple pounds of ground beef. I could use some in mapo tofu I suppose. I was thinking of possibly a pseudo Italian American dish of ground beef and tomatoes. I don't have any such recipe however. I could just brown the beef, stir in some tomatoes, sprinkle some oregano and call it a day. I'd rather see what a real recipe looks like. Could anyone point me in the right direction? I have close to 500 cookbooks at my disposal, not to mention a good number more at work.

OK, I took one for the team: an Oxo Good Grips Chef's Squeeze Bottle. (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Perfect application of ketchup to my Kenji smashburger. I was so delighted I prepared myself a second smashburger. Sadly I was too full, I couldn't finish it.

Couldn't quite see the bottle label...what was their choice of wine?

Seriously, for a UPS pickup, call amazon and ask. For some returns I see UPS pickup as an option on the return screen. Here they do not offer UPS pickup for lightweight or inexpensive items. My favorite return method (at least for something I can carry) is UPS Store dropoff. There is no need to pack the item or to prepare a packing slip. Amazon issues a refund immediately. Granted the local UPS Store does not offer a beer bar. Although it is conveniently located a few doors down from my friendly wine and spirits monger.

@scamhiyour wine glasses are beautiful. What do you actually drink from?

Amazon once tried selling wine here but they soon dropped the idea. Possibly because each state in the US has their own constitutionally enshrined alcohol regulations.

Amazon where you are sells alcohol?

Nice, friend and pho.

It used to be you could buy fresh, same day Parisian bread in Princeton.

Tuna salad sandwich was my dinner last night as well. Tuna salad sandwich may be tonight's dinner too.

They say not: "When you order our fresh seafood online, what you receive always reflects the unrivaled standard of our markets. It’s hand-prepared, never frozen, and shipped overnight."

But I did not forget why I was there.

Do you ever walk into your bedroom for an avocado only to see your bed, lie down, and fall asleep?

I shall never again allow the battery to die in my timer traceable to NIST whilst timing three dishes for dinner.

Last night's dinner was a Kenji smashburger. My preferred burger condiment is ketchup. I can no longer find Heinz organic ketchup, though I've found Shoprite organic ketchup is as good, to my taste, as Heinz but comes in the same dysfunctional plastic squeeze container. There is a special circle of hell for whomever designed the paper towel dispensers that we have at work. Below that are the ketchup bottle engineers.

Is there a reason you require frozen rather than fresh Atlantic fish to fulfill your east coast fetish? Citarella ships to California. The only downside is flat rate to the west coast was $50 per order as I recall. I've bought from Citarella twice and I've been impressed by their packaging and freshness. Their fish takes no longer to get to you in California than to me in New Jersey. Though, thankfully to me in New Jersey, it is cheaper.

I read today that a 1000 year egg has been found in Israel. No tea leaves were harmed in its preservation. Chickens apparently were introduced to the Middle East by Romans. The yolk is being saved for DNA analysis.

I've tried reheating tortillas with steam but my memory is they got unpleasantly tacky. Deep frying for me worked better.

I'm envious. This is what I wanted night before last. But I couldn't summon the energy to chop the salsa or press the tortillas. Besides, my avocado wasn't ripe. At least my Rancho Gordo Moro beans were good.

I keep vacuum sealed pasteurized proteins in the refrigerator for a few weeks. Even I would worry after "a few months".

I bought 1.1 kg of Blue Diamond Smokehouse Almonds for $1.38. The sad part, having nothing to do with Prime Day or food, I ordered a limited edition Roy Andersson blu-ray collection from amazon UK. But I got free shipping! And then King Arthur Flour Baking offered me 10 percent off their stuff.
