Excellent! Wonder if they deliver to France?

And their frozen burgers are microwavable, or for the oven?
  4. Couldn't find another WC thread. Has this been discussed before? I hear their burgers are excellent, and that they are open 24/7 Any info?
  5. I'm not "getting" at anything, just wanted to clarify the fact that the French have nothing to do with "Frenchifying" and pushing their "monoculturism" in Indian restaurants, as these restaurants are not owned by French. The restaurants are, simply, catering to the local market to some extent. I was just wondering, as well, if anyone out there might provide me with any examples of "non-Indian" menu items in the UK. Just for curiosity's sake. And I, as a Rosbif myself, have no interest in promoting French culture.
  6. I remember the Ed's just behind the Lanes and not far from the Zap, but they went out of business years ago..good burgers, nice people...
  7. I disagree, Eat looks far more exciting than Gastronomica, which puts me to sleep. Then again, I haven't read a single issue of Eat, yet, though I have ordered a couple copies.
  8. Strange how the Rave Crouton link is so far superior to Eat Magazine's own website...
  9. That seems to be the case... they look like they have some good ideas, but the website content sucks, especially the city guides...Anyway, I've ordered a couple of issues, I'll keep you all posted...
  10. So you've read it then? Aside from not being impressed, was the writing good quality ? The London Times said they have some of the best food photography anywhere...
  11. To Ballast-Regine: You've read it then? Seems to me that they have some interesting subject matter...Is the writing crap? Do tell...
  12. Looks like a great publication... Anyone know about this:Eat
  13. But French people don't own Indian restaurants, Indian and Sri Lankan people do...
  14. Here in France, you'll find every Indian restaurant has cheese nans, a nan bread with Vache Qui Rit cheese inside, which is very tasty, but which I haven't seen elsewhere. Does this exist in England, the US, etc? If so, I havenn't seen it..
  15. Thanks for your interest, John, I'm well aware the article is out-of-date, but presented it as a good piece of writing on the typical Parisian bistrot, that I personally liked, not as an up-to-date guide. The guide I have lodged away in my head...
  16. As far as I've always understood, the word "bistro" comes from the Russian word "bystro", which means "quickly" , and was probably introduced by the Cossacks in the 1814 occupation of Paris, as they shouted for faster service in local cafes, "Bystro! Bystro!". The word first appeared in French dictionaries in 1884. Here is a link to one of the best articles on Parisian bistros I have ever read: What Ever Happened to the Paris Bistrot? Hope this helps!
  17. Actually, i was passing through Memphis a few months ago, and had a surprisingly good BBQ sandwich at one of the airport restaurants...can't remember the name, though
  18. There's a "best" ?

  20. I believe there is a lot of paranoia and many misconceptions about this legendary drink. It seems to drive people up onto their soapboxes to make proclamations that they don't necessarily back up with actual fact. With such a heady myth, will people ever agree?
  21. I've spoken to many one and two-star restaurateurs here in Paris who don't want to change upwards, because being thus promoted, they would be obliged to continue spending more money on decoration, etc, and perhaps couldn't continue with the growing expenses. Many one and two stars are happy keeping their status quo
  22. I was going to translate, but unfortunatelty didn't have the time before Jonathan did! Thanks!
  23. I used to live at Square Robiac, just off of the rue de Grenelle, and fondly remember the creperie next to the Cafe de Marche...they are excellent...
  24. Maybe it's time to learn, if only for the pleasure of reading my links!
