  1. I was just joking with you!
  2. Looks like France isn't the only country with cheese naans or other variations thereof...sounds more like a continuing tradition that a choice of individual restaurants to pander to their dining public's local tastes...
  3. I'll take a three-star in France to a three-star in any other country, any day... And don't forget, the manager of the Michelin Guide Rouge, is English, not a French patriot protecting his culture's culinary family jewels...
  4. There are!

    Flying with wine

Bubblewrap must do the trick as well...
  6. I was just disputing the statement that the Jules Verne is "surprisingly untouristy" which it isn't. I work in the luxury hotel business, so I'm obliged to find tables there, although I try to disuade people from going there as much as possible...because it is very touristy.
  7. Surprisingly untouristy?!?! You must be joking! This establishment wins top prize for the most touristy restaurant in Paris! Have you actually been there?!? Although I admit much of this is my fault, being responsable for sending them more clients than about anyone else in Paris, in a very consistent manner! [edit: removed extraneous code --bux]

    bud

I drink Bud, too, from time to time, but you have to admit, the label "King of Beers", may not be totally jutified... Maybe, I should have added, the horse-piss comment, is my own personal take..

    bud

I was aware that of the American and Czech Budvar--I was joking that American Bud tastes like horse-piss.
  10. I think the Born Agains have the corner on that particular market...
  11. I, also, will eat pretty much anything for breakfast (when, indeed, I do eat breakfast), but dunking is beyond my comprehension. Hey, I've got an idea: Let's market a line of hot beverages, that have already had stuff dunked into it... Coffee with baguette-style breadcrumbs, and a thin topping of melted margarine, Tea with moreaux de croisants et marmalade...maybe I've got something here!

    bud

    American Bud is beer??
  13. One thing I find about living in France that annoys me (but maybe that's just me), is that everyone dips their baguette, toast, bread, whatever in their morning coffee, complete with butter, jam, marmelade, etc. I find this a disgusting habit, but have no idea where it comes from, or why it seems to be part of a larger, national character trait.... Anyone care to enlighten me?
  14. Actually, that's the wrong page. The correct one is : Eat JAPAN!
  15. I did say it was a "rough" translation, didn't I?
  16. Strange, how much he seems to be refering to the Spanish chefs, when I get the idea that he's refering to the culinary world in general.
  17. Being the cerebral chef that he is, I expected more as well.... I'm sure this isn't the end of it, though!
  18. Here's a an English language reference to the original article from gastronomie.com. For copyright reasons, we had to remove the translated text posted here. I thank Peter for the above mentioned reference site. Members with question may want to follow that link.
  19. Not at all. It's from Tokyo, Japan, edited by a group of English-speaking expats, with contributors from all over. And apparently no editor. What made you think it was from Singapore?
  20. The one in Canary Wharf is on the docks just below the Four Seasons Hotel, and looks fairly pleasant, didn't eat there though, as their famous Zizzi pasta scared me!
  21. They've been talking about his first Michelin star for years. Let's hope it happens sometime soon, as both he and his wife are charming. She brings me some of the most amazing fondant au chocolat from time to time. Scrumptious!
  22. GM probably said this around the time they started hiring young, creative chefs to change their stodgy image. Don't get me wrong, the Bristol is a great luxury hotel, but their restaurant will never be remotely cutting edge...
