@ElsieD, I had that shutdown behaviour a few times and had started discussions with Anova about it. I was expecting that they would replace the oven. And then I got distracted and not much later, the oven quit the misbehaving. This occurred months ago. I'd suggest trying to see how you can reset the oven. Unplug it. Delete the app from your phone. Reinstall. See if problem reoccurs.

Sounds delish. So, I now have Sambuca on my shopping list. Can you say more about the braised fennel? Will you do it in the CSO? And how much Sambuca?

@Shelby, I have *no* idea what to make! Thanks for the reminder.

The Anova Precision Oven which is at 22 x 18 x 14 (inches) and 46lbs up on the kitchen countertop, way too large and heavy for me to move anywhere. But I figure people with other toaster/oven devices probably have similar issues. I'm looking for other folks' experience so I will know more about how to ask questions/solutions from Anova. My first thought is that it would be useful to be able to remove the oven door (as long as it's a simple enough task).

@rotuts, household cleaning doesn't hold much interest for me, as a general rule, but the entire inside of the oven was messy. And I didn't like the way it smelled. But, unnecessarily difficult to clean –– especially with that door. 😒 And I am wanting to know how other folk circumvent these isses. 🙂

My question is for all owners of countertop toaster-type ovens* How do you clean the appliance? 1) Do you move/tip/tilt the appliance while cleaning it? 2) Does the open appliance door get in the way of cleaning it? 3) If you don't move the appliance, how do you manage to see the roof inside the appliance? Can you look at the roof inside the appliance AND clean it at the same time? 4) Cleaning the appliance are you sitting or standing? * I have an Anova Precision Oven which sits on the kitchen countertop and weighs a million pounds.

We split one for dinner. Yum! Very cheap. @Deephaven's price seems right.

Seem to have forgotten how to accomplish this trick: From the front panel, one can start the Descale function. As a part of this function, one adds a litre of water for the first rinse. In the past, I have accomplished the second rinse by activating the Descale function from the app. Today, the app won't engage. Any idea why?

@AlaMoi, they were some unnamed version of yellow potato. @gfweb, so they're trash?

What does one do with waterlogged potatoes? I baked chicken in the Anova oven with the steam on, and had vegetables with lots of water, resulting with the layer of potatoes being soft and mushy. What could I do with them now? Also I have a question about cooking rice in the Zo rice cooker.
-
How much does rice absorb flavours of broth + ingredients vs. always cooking rice in the rice cooker without additions or flavourings? All recipes from Zojirushi seem to only put rice and water in the cooker. Perhaps they don't feel the pot can be cleaned?

All of the dishes in this post look scrumptious! Sorry for being so far behind the times. Could you direct me to your recipe for mushrooms bourguignon? Edited to add: @liamsaunt replied to this here which stated: "It's Melissa Clark's mushrooms bourguignon. Recipe here: mushroom bourguignon "I used white wine instead of red, mushroom broth for the liquid, and skipped the crispy mushroom garnish because I was doing too many other things at the end. I did put oyster mushrooms in the stew though."

Shoot. If I hadn't been so darned impatient I would have put one of those buttermilk bottles to good use. Next time! Thanks @Shelby and @blue_dolphin.
-
I ended up throwing it out, @rotuts. One bottle had expiry Sept 2023, other October 2023. One bottle had a slightly blue twinge at the bottle opening. Both smelled good and were quite viscous. Next time I will listen to @ElsieD and freeze it. (Opinion revised below)

Thought I had notes about this, but I can't find any. I recall someone stating that buttermilk never actually (really) expired, thus it could be used for cooking months after the expiry date. In my case I want to marinate some chicken in it. Is this an okay plan?

Another query, Supposing you have Jaime Oliver's ONE and have selected a few recipes which really interest you. And the same with Mathew Carver and Patrick McGuigan's THE CHEESE LIFE. And some other cookbooks. In Eat Your Books, can you mark those individual recipes in some fashion? (E.g. in my personal database, I have a tag: _OfInterest). Favourite, perhaps? Later can one query the recipe data selecting for ONLY Favourite recipes to be included? -
The Instant Pot CAN cook beans without pressure (just like a stovetop). Keep in mind that the IP slow cooker choices of temp are high, medium, low and these translate to a traditional slow cooker temp of high, low, and warm.
