Still hoping that someone will put this through its paces as it was intended to be used. This is an improvement I understood for the air fryer and allows one to cook a carb as well as a protein. Might have to splurge and do the experiments myself. 😂

I am trying to figure out the logistics. How do you carry your containers to the venue? Very large purses? Shopping bag? I cannot imagine showing up at a wedding reception complete with leftover containers. Perhaps somebody will design elegant Tiffin containers.

Not exactly my acquisition but @Kerry Bealfound herself in a discount bookstore today and picked up a copy of Lateral Cooking by Niki Segnit. She is of the opinion this might be the second copy that she has acquired! I did a quick search here and this book does not seem to have attracted anyone's attention. And yet it sounds as if it has a philosophy similar to Grist, Ruffage and the two "Everlasting" meal books. Anyone own this? Opinions?

The Guardian collection of Tupperware stories. "I have a Dutch friend whose parents emigrated to Canada after the war and died there. They had always said they wanted to be buried in the family grave in Holland and this posed a problem for my friend. So after their demise they were cremated in Canada, but since the airline did not allow urns to form part of one’s luggage, my friend put the ashes in two Tupperware receptacles, duly marked with an M and V (father in Dutch is vader) and took them onboard with her hand luggage. And so, disguised as sandwiches, they went back to their ancestors."

At first I was quite puzzled by this until I turned my mind back to a time when my husband and I raised tropical fish as a hobby. This is exactly how we transported them from the pet store to our home. But we also saw shipments coming into the pet stop and that's exactly how they arrived - in sturdy plastic bags inside Styrofoam containers.

No Frills carry the Muir Glen roasted tomaoes as do most supermarkets in Ontario. I would look for them where all the other canned tomatoes are displayed. They are available from Amazon but from the looks of it at twice the price you can get them in the supermarket. I chased them down once for a recipe. I never bothered again as I didn't see much difference in anything except the cost.

I bought the Kindle version not long after you mentioned it. The tables do link directly to the recipes but they don't look nearly as attractive as the fold outs in the tree version as you shared them.

Even careful sous vide cooking didn't always work. I have sworn by many methods and every one of them has let me down at some point. I have decided that eggs are like snowflakes -- no two are exactly alike.

Nope it has been years since I made it. But if you Google it you will find plenty of recipes. -

Ha ha. That would be about the right amount of raisins for me. I have two versions of rice pudding that I consider the ultimate comfort food. One is the baked one with raisins and that marvellous skin and the other is the Danish risalamande. -

I am of the opinion that eggs are just fickle. Just when you think you have it all figured out they make a fool of you.

Am I the only one who thinks that this is just a bad idea? Kudos to @Matthew.Taylorfor wanting to surprise his parents and give them something approximating that which they can no longer enjoy. It is a fine sentiment. But as someone who is deathly allergic to one shellfish I can assure you life goes on without it. To eat fake crab, fake lobster or fake anything else does not strike me as something that appeals. No mushroom, no matter how expensive or rare, is ever going to even come close to the texture or taste of lobster. I only see disappointment ahead both for him and his parents. I say treat them to something else that they really enjoy and that is real. Just one person's opinion.

Ah yes! Never made much sense. Seemed to need a very specific size of pie as I recall. I know I desperately wanted the snack thingie. It would have taken up half of my fridge but oh how it called out to me.

I have to say that I have no recollection of them being difficult to clean.

I vaguely remember the spiky thing but for certain it was a green container. There was an almost cult-like peer pressure thing going on. Lots of people would like to shake off the memory of being drawn into the Tupperware world. And thrift was stressed as your iceberg lettuce would last forever if you did the right thing and stored it in the right green coloured bowl.
-
Pretty sure this is the one I recall. Here.

Anyone remember being taught how to knock out the core of an iceberg lettuce before storing it in their lettuce bowl?

As I recall they were never cheap! I hated the parties but allowed myself to be pressured into attending one or two. Most of what was for sale was out of my reach but there was always a giveaway. The citrus peeler mentioned above was the gizmo we were all hoping to get.

Proving beyond a shadow of a doubt just how ubiquitous it was!

Here. Shares in US firm have fallen almost 50% this week and stock exchange says it is in danger of being delisted. Do you have any stories to share?

Some more thoughts. But I would definitely look at how many ways I could use them as a base just as one might do with polenta. @blue_dolphinoften posts delicious looking meals over a creamy base of some sort. If you season them up appropriately I could see them working very well.
