Here. I cannot believe I missed this. Nor can I believe that a search on eG turns up nothing. I followed their blog Ideas in Food for years and years and would never, ever, have predicted they would open a donut shop.

I received the email too and have to say this is the first of their books that didn’t spark any enthusiasm from me. I am not a huge pizza fan. I have been subjected to some pretty crappy pizzas because the rest of the family was quite happy with any pizza. It’s just not something I think can be done that well at home. I hope they prove me wrong.

That is the one I have had for many years and it still looks like new. I also bought it because I have an induction range and needed something that would work. It is heavy and takes quite some time to warm up even on induction. I also have their 365+ nonstick pan which is also induction compatible, lighter in weight and shaped much more like a traditional skillet. I am happy with both of them and I can’t even tell you how many years ago I bought them.

I knew before I fell asleep last night at least a part of what I would have for breakfast this morning. (That is usually as far reaching as any menu planning gets in my life although I try hard.) There was a small piece of smoked duck in the refrigerator that needed to be used up. I knew I would serve it on crispbread. But that was as far as my imagination had carried me. So while the duck crisped on my stove top I twirled my internal Rolodex at full speed hoping it would spit out something interesting to serve with the duck. I remembered that Jacques Pépin had done something with duck and parsnips and I knew there were parsnips in my crisper drawer. Smoked duck, parsnip pureed with a little smoked duck fat, on crispbread with ligonberry sauce.

Minimally. But I see no way to create an account other than through Facebook.

Good friends to enjoy it with!

I accidentally ran across this Video on accessories for the Instant Pot. Until I saw this I considered the plastic rice paddle and plastic ladle that accompanied new Instant Pots to be pretty much useless. I tucked them away in a drawer to be forgotten until discarded. But it appears that they are quite useful. Further into the video the narrator discusses various things to use when doing pot in pot cooking which some people might find helpful.

Too bad that it requires a Facebook account.

The naturally gluten-free cookie – – coconut macaroons. These are from the Joe Pastry site and use coconut cream. I think they are on the dry side but I don’t blame Joe for that. I did not have the right coconut and some of the coconut I had had been around a little while! But they are quite edible and I need to get them out of here before I over prove that statement.

Pick up some new dish towels while you’re there. They are quite the bargain.

So today Fedex delivered a package. Naturally I assumed it was the new base for my mini. It felt awfully heavy and when I open the package I discovered a brand new mini in there. I felt the company had been very fair with me — a little slow maybe — but fair. So I immediately emailed them to explain that I had received a whole new unit. Not long after they sent me an email to say I could use the new unit! I am impressed even though I understand that sometimes it’s easier to replace than it is to send a replacement part.

You didn’t write a book A lot of supermarkets around here offer a choice of sides with the chicken and the rotisserie oven is almost always in the ready-to-eat hot foods area so it’s not difficult to put a kit together as it is. Not sure if this applies to all supermarkets.

I have been extremely happy with my IKEA nonstick pans.

Your Daily Sweets: What Are You Making and Baking? (2017 – )

Hell I couldn’t even make a decent poundcake to execute my suggested recipe. You are both overrating my capabilities exponentially. -
Sometimes a small notion… Philadelphia cream cheese mashed with Heinz chili sauce and spread on crispbread with some scallions as garnish.

My first reaction too. Will be interesting to see how others respond especially someone who might have one.

This was an experiment in reheating food in the Instant Pot while at the same time cooking some fresh beans. It was not 100% successful in that the beans were a little overcooked and the pork chops and mushrooms were not quite as warm as I would’ve liked. But I believe it can be tweaked quite easily. I used the porcelain bowl which you see in the photograph to hold the pork chops and mushrooms and covered it with a layer of parchment and a layer of foil to seal it from any steam. I put a cup of water into the Instant Pot and then put in the trivet that comes with it. I made a sling for the porcelain bowl and put that on top of the trivet. I then put a folding steamer basket on top and added green beans. I set the controls to Steam and the time to five minutes and left it for 10 minutes to release naturally. Next time I would use a metal bowl for the meal portion and set the timer for four minutes. I think this might nail it.

Not a very good photograph but this was sent to me by the person who avoids gluten. She said the bun held up well to a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. These end up being more like slider buns than hamburger buns.

But lots and lots of vegetables.

A paragraph I could read over and over and over again whether or not I happen to like french fries.

Fried potatoes topped with a spoonful of the Braised Beef with Lots and Lots of Onions (here). This dish becomes almost a condiment — like caramelized onions with some shredded beef thrown in.

At one time I was so excited about this concept. Not so much anymore. There are probably many reasons for the change of heart and perhaps the most weighted would be that over the past weeks my health has improved to the point where I can do most things In the kitchen if I pace myself. I love cooking, know a fair bit about it and have all the time in the world. I don’t seem to check any of the boxes that would put me in the demographic likely to buy these. Nevertheless I found the experience fun and I still would be willing to buy one of the higher end kits that my store has to offer and assess it for my own interest. Certainly I better understand the need for so much packaging. When everything is all lumped together the end result is both unattractive and defeats the purpose of garnishes. Further, when onion slices are lumped in with baby spinach leaves it’s inevitable that one will be under cooked and the other overcooked.

To understand a little of what the book is based on you might scan the manufacturer’s note from the link I gave above on Amazon.ca

In this case strawberries are made into a ketchup.
