  1. It is indeed but you do realize that that poster has not visited this board in 15 years?
  2. Pepper improves most things in my opinion. And there are some very interesting peppers out there that are worth exploring.
  3. I am sure you are right but my daughter described them as “just perfect”.
  4. Today I made these salty chocolate oatmeal cookies. Instead of the flour in the recipe I used almond flour so that my daughter who chooses to avoid gluten might enjoy them. I think they work just fine with the almond flour although I suppose one ought to always make the recipe as given first. But rules were made to be broken and I broke this one. There’s nothing wrong with these cookies. They just don’t blow my mind in any way. I will let you know how many rejects are returned. To me they taste like oatmeal held together by chocolate, really good chocolate because that’s what I have (thanks to @Kerry Beal).

    Breakfast 2019

Garlic naan with crumbled blue cheese, grated cheddar cheese and lots and lots of pepper.
  6. Yep that’s the one I aspire to. So far it’s out of my reach.
  7. You can both keep your knickers on. It’s going to be some time. I expect to do the Danish æbleskivers first.😂

Thank you. I hope to try these in a takoyaki pan. Might be a few days before I actually get around to it.

Can you share the recipe? Please?

    Dinner 2019

Yeah. I would’ve done that and made sure it went into the compost bin.
  11. Strictly to contain the eggs. I need the dual tray that doesn’t exist!
  12. I think the way the restaurant responded is the bigger story. Here. “Lau told CNN that it was "a shame" to have been deleted from the 2020 guide. "But we take it as a fair judgment and a fresh start following the departure of our master Mitsuhiro Araki," he said. "We believed it placed Michelin in a difficult position to make a decision on how to score The Araki, as the master was here during half of the inspection period for 2020's guide." The restaurant has not asked Michelin for an explanation, he said. "It's their guide, and we're in total respect of how they want to do it. I'm taking it on the chin and getting on with proving myself. "Lots of chefs are devastated when they lose stars, but you'll get nowhere with that attitude. You have to dust yourself off and try again."

Enjoy every minute. I can’t think of anyone who is more deserving of a break than you.
  14. I have been using this appliance almost exclusively but most of it is pretty repetitive so I have not been posting about it. Tonight I used it to reheat some roasted vegetables and cook a couple of eggs.

    Costco

I like Cosco’s chicken so much so that I won’t buy rotisserie chicken anywhere else but 6lbs. I don’t think so.
  16. I am trying to find a compromise where I can leaf through the book but not let the kittens have their way with it. Right now I have it open on the table they haven’t yet discovered. And I have started reading it. And what do you know? The chef and I have something in common. We were both born in Derby!
  17. Yes we went for the original crust. I think the big draw of this pizzeria is that it offers toppings that are quite unusual in this neck of the woods such as pesto and white sauce and drizzles of olive oil! Pizzas are small compared to other pizzerias. You would need more than one large pizza to feed more than two people adequately in my opinion. From my observation while sitting waiting for Kerry a large pizza was being treated as a personal size pizza by most of the young people in there. It’s a novelty and I’ll definitely try it again but I don’t think it is going to be my “go to” meal by a longshot.
  18. Has to go in for maintenance every six months.

    Lunch 2019

So am I understanding this correctly because if so it’s genius. You are making a frittata and then using it like a flat bread and piling stuff on top?
  20. I wish I had timed the wait. Had we been in a restaurant waiting for a drink order I swear we would’ve got up and walked out. As for the facilities I did tell you not to ask. 😂

That is so much less exciting than what I imagined that kind of jam to actually be. Mine involved a blender.

I read party dinner. Party or pantry it all looks good to me.
  23. Yup! My late husband, bless his soul, missed so many fantastic photography opportunities because he didn’t want to get his expensive camera wet, sandy, bumped or bruised. And a beloved aunt died with so much stuff in mint condition that she had “saved for a rainy day”. Use your stuff. Enjoy your stuff. That’s what it’s for.
  24. Lunch out two days in a row! This morning @Kerry Beal and I went into Burlington for haircuts. We decided, also for the second day in a row, to eat at a little Chinese place that has a good reputation. It was closed yesterday and according to the website would not open until 3:30 in the afternoon. But, also according to the website, today it should be open at 11:30 so we were very enthusiastic about getting there. But once again it was closed. Not really sure what is happening there. When we called the message said basically that it should be open. Oh well. But we had another plan as always. One of the drivers from the limo service that Kerry uses to get back-and-forth to the airport had recommended a new, to us, pizza joint called Blaze Pizza. we decided we would give it a try today. it is a very different merchandising model. You get to watch while they put the toppings on your pizza and carry on a constant one-sided conversation asking how it looks as they add each topping. By the time Kerry had actually got the two pizzas that she ordered in her hands I, waiting at a table, had lost all sense of proportion and just wanted to scream. Who has that much flipping time to waste ordering a damn pizza? I asked if we could take the pizzas home since they were already each in a box. (Needing to use the facilities might’ve had something to do with my impatience. Don’t ask!) Kerry said she had a feeling it was all going to be worth it. And they were nice pizzas. Not for those who like a nice thick doughy crust though! two topping pizza – – pepperoni and mushroom. Meat lovers pizza. I did enjoy this one. We might do this again but only if we order it online for pick up!
