No Claire, I haven't. Not recently. But then, there is so much pastry creativity now that I suppose old favourites get jettisoned. Another thread, maybe. Classic cakes that need resurrecting. Spice Cake. Anyone remember Spice Cake? Hmmm...chocolate layers. Could be good, but it's not really BCP, is it? Perhaps ACP?

I love rhubarb in all its delightful guises. Plain's best, but a few strawbs....no prob. Jim...the roasting in olive oil is intirguing and new to me. I'll definitely try it. Thanks.

Louisa: Hollywood says it all here. Welcome!

Panko rules. Period. And so does rice wine vinegar.

26, 352. So close I can smell the "Famous Football-Sized Burrito" 4.99 miles.

Yeah, self delusion is a pretty thing, Babe. But the Lemon Almond Polenta Tart Sounds even better. Thanks, Helena!

Maggie -- If you get divorced, call me. ASAP. Stone: Babe..you'll be near the top of the list! BCP and Boys. Ladies; Ascolta!

You know I hadn't thought about it, but you are right.... My son requests it every year for his birthday Yes. Sons, lovers, fathers-in-law, husbands...never fails. Odd, but reassuring. The same thing our grandfathers wanted, our sons want. Boston Cream Pie. A winner.

Actually, Dean, this is absolutely brilliant. Verge? A third the way down the shelf. "Joy?" Right at the top. New Eric Ripert/Ruhlman? On the coffee table until it hits a lower shelf. One's life, chronologically, through cookbooks. But then, you are a cook/engineer/writer. The combination to find the right solution. I may have to reorganize right now!

EGullet Karma. I made a BCP last week for the first time in many, many years. Wish Trish had been there. It was good, but Too Much Cake. And go with the plain ganache. Men love BCP.

26,332. The collection is arranged in crazy random order. Kind of depends on who shoves what where when clearing off the table. I believe that there was originally a plan. The series (Time-Life, Look and Cook, etc.) stay together. Apart from that, it's every cuisine for itself. Yes, this is a terrible idea. On the other hand, one runs across old friends while looking for the new Hottie.

... she said wantonly. We'll be announcing the winners of the first Golden Gully awards this week and publishing the full archive of submissions at the end. In the meantime, let's get started on the next topic: The Tom Swiftie is an adverbial pun. Edward L. Stratemeyer, in the original Tom Swift books, had his Boy Hero use adverbs that mirrored what he was saying. One line, EGullet wits! And Tom Swift wants something about food. Greedily. Swifties are meant to be bad, so go ahead, be shameless. Like so: "Pass the grapes!" said Veronica soulfully. "You call that good chocolate?" she snickered. "I don't have to do this for a living," said the pastry chef tartly. "Leftover schnitzel tonight," she revealed. "Too much vermouth in my martini," he said dryly. Ignore what Elmore Leonard says. Love those adverbs! And win that T-shirt. As before, just post your submissions here. They'll be held in a queue, read by the judges, and released when we announce the winners. Friday at midnight: your deadline.

Not much, Jaymes! Thank you. Today is l'anniversaire d'Edouard, and worth a toast around your Easter table. But I guess I won't be cooking from de Pomiane because it's Easter Day. Spiral ham and scalloped potatoes at my sister-in-laws. It will take her much longer than ten minutes! Demain.

Mogsob: Thank you for this, on this fine April Morning. I really love it, and I don't know it. Is it by Reed? If it's by you, you have officially knocked me out. Hmmmm. Pimm's. Might have to swing by the liqour store. -

Claude: Yes. I'm glad to get some affirmation here. Great recipes, great food writing, great photography, tremendous creativity. g.: I have to take a side dish at Easter. Thanks for reminding me that this could...would!..be a winner.

Thanks indiagirl. I find if I throw a bacon and grilled cheese sandwich at the Dark Think it will scamper away for at least half an hour. -
Like a little company, Tommy?

Suzanne: This is pretty romantic, actually. I should jolly well hope it's not a complaint! Ah...being badly behaved in restaurants for all the right reasons! Another thread, perhaps?

That's funny! -
Oh Babe: I can now understand your capacity for beer! THis guy sounds like a nightmare! Er, He must have had major talent in other areas. I have friends with serious, ridiculous food issues, but this litany amazes me. I think it was where you got to the toast that I made the sign of the cross. Loving food is a religious affiliation!

Thanks, JAZ. That's what I get for not following up! What a great story.
