  1. An optimist, I see.🙂
  2. Weird, huh? One store we went to, Loblaws Superstore, is a big store. Empty shelves. When John asked someone about it, the guy didn't even look. He just said that the one on the shelf was the only one they had. Another store, Metro, is another well established chain. Just bare shelves. It seems like such an odd thing for a grocery store to not have ANY of them. Maybe the recent stroke at the Port of Montreal has something to do with it.
  3. That's just it. I can't find any spray oils. The shelves in the grocery stores where they normally sit are empty. No Pam, no other brands, no house brands, no nothing. No canola, no olive oil, no coconut, no sprays period. The only thing I could find was a baking spray which contains flour.
  4. Welcome to eGullet!
  5. Where have all the spray oils like Pam gone? I can't find any, anywhere. I'd even take a canola based one if I could find it. And while I'm complaining, I'd like to know where the Press 'N Seal is hiding.
  6. I do stop in there whenever I'm in that particular shopping mall. I like looking at the stuff in the kitchen area and usually come out with an item or four. So yes, I'll keep that in mind.

    Salad 2016 –

    I second that!
  8. Yes, I did see that. I'm amazed sometimes by the price differences between .ca and .com. I don't mind accounting for the exchange rate and maybe a small premium if I really, really want it or can't find it here, but that's about it.
  9. Thank you @JoNorvelleWalker and @dtremit On Amazon.ca the 7" x 9" costs $43.55 and the 8" x 10" costs $53.34, a bit rich but thank you for the information.
  10. This is just a comment on KitchenAid products in general. I had a KA mini chopper which I loved because it was the only mini chopper that came with a blade that sliced on one side, shredded on the other. The little plastic thing where the top attaches to the work bowl broke off and I went to my favourite kitchen store to order a replacement. Much to my surprise, I found out that KA does not stock much of anything in the way of spare parts. This was some years back. I kept the motor part. Or I should say, John kept the motor part and I bought a Cuisinart mini chopper (no slicing/shredding blade). Our condo building recently held one of those "get rid of what you don't want" days and lo and behold, while I was nosing around i found my old prep machine's twin. The thing works and I now have a new-to-me work bowl. Ever since I found out they don't stock repair parts I have switched my allegiance to Breville and in some cases Cuisinart. My kitchen store guy says they always have parts. No more KA for me.
  11. Has anyone found a baking sheet that will fit in the CSO? I don't much care for the ridged one that came with it and would like to get one with a flat bottom. I saw a couple on Amazon that should fit but I thought I'd ask here first. Thanks!
  12. This is going to be interesting reading. I hope you catch lots of fish and that your Sweetie's pain lessens such that she is able to fully enjoy your holiday.
  13. Hi @Demy Welcome to eGullet!
  14. Both, really. Sad for her that she is such a twit and sad for you that you had to put up with it.
  15. That's correct. My digital subscription is the "all access" one which includes Cooking and Crosswords.

    Fruit

    I love mangoes.
  17. And I would add that the never used back-up CSO has to fail as well. There are a few of us who have them.
  18. @blue_dolphin i did make the dish Baked Sweet Potato Maple Crème Fraîche. I baked up two sweet potatoes but made the full recipe for the dressing. I divided the dressing between the spuds and while the dressing is delicious, I'd say the full dressing recipe was too much. But thanks for posting this as I will make it again.
  19. Alas, not on Amazon.ca
  20. I have all the ingredients for this. I am making this as a side. Thanks @blue_dolphin ,

    Jiffy love

Count me in as a Jiffy person. I used to pick it up whenever we went south of the border as i couldn't find it here. Haven't done that now in a long while now, but I've put it on my list and will look for it next time I'm out.
  22. Is there any reason to not chill the ice cream custard in the freezer? Assuming you give it the odd stir?
