What if you sprayed some Pam or other such spray oil onto the bottom of the pan? I haven't tried it but it might work.

Ah yes, @Shelby the enabler.😁

John took the microwave to the repair shop in case it is something as simple as a fuse. We never thought of getting it looked at, until @chromedome mentioned the fuse. We'll know early next week what the diagnosis is. In our looking around ar new ones I was surprised by all the complaints against Panasonic, both for the quality of their product and their poor customer service. I have always been happy with them.

I thought I was the only one who did that.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Hi Fred, welcome to the forum.

An ostrich eggs equates to 24 chicken eggs.

A friend invited us over for breakfast one day, a number of years ago. He had duck eggs and ostrich eggs on offer. I had an ostrich egg which I could not finish. They weight about 3 pounds each. John ate duck eggs. They were both really good. It was quite a job cracking the ostrich shell. It's not unlike trying to crack a rock. I believe he eventually cracked it using a hammer.

Looking forward to it. How long are you there for?

Wonderful! You'll be pleased with it.

Thanks, everyone. We didn't realize the problem could be as simple as a fuse. I have a call in to our appliance salesman and am waiting for him to call back. We have been buying appliances from him for 30 plus years and trust him implicity so I'll see what he has to say. We are not "handy" people so we would need to have someone come into fix it, if it is fixable. That could cost enough such that it makes more sense to buy a new one. The one that died is a GE Profile and is 16 years old so the repair may not be worth it on that basis alone. It came with the condo. Previous to this, I had Panasonic microwave-convection ovens with the inverter technology. I really, really liked them.

Our microwave oven appears to have died between zapping the veg and the rice. It tripped the breaker the other day and tonight quit altogether. It is a 24" built in over the wall oven one and a new one would go into the same space. I am not interested in one with a convection oven as I already have a convection wall oven, a CSOand the Breville Smart oven Air. I also don't want one with a pull down door as I am not very tall and it would be too much of a stretch putting stuff in there and taking it out. Any suggestions?

I feel for you. I was steaming my eggs on steam 210 for 22 minutes as that is how I like them. The last two I did were only half cooked. Raw yolks, slimy whites. The other functions work as they should. Is it possible that this one function out of all of them no longer works?
-
I dunno. You could try it I suppose but I think it would be a totally different dish. This is, after all, a dish that calls for 1/2 cup of butter. I can't imagine using 1/2 cup of olive oil.

I solved the "broth taking up too much space in the freezer" problem by concentrating the broth as much as possible, putting the result in ice cube trays and freezing the cubes.
-
I have been trying to eat my way through the freezer since mid November. It is still stuffed although I did re-organize it which lasted about 3 days because I still can't find anything, at least not readily. Even worse, my next door neighbour has moved and her condo is forsale. I now have stuff in her freezer.😱

I like a runny yolk. What I can't stand are the runny whites that look like snot.

@retired baker I'd like to echo @Shelby 's thoughts.

@chromedome Wow, I'm impressed. That must have been a lot of work.

Tonight I finished some chicken on the PAG. The chicken had been cooked sous vide a while back and had been frozen. It was put on the grill straight from the fridge. Here are a couple of pictures, one skin side up, the other skin side down. Because the meat was cold, it took longer to come to temperature and therefore it was little dryer than I would have liked. Next time, I will heat the chicken up in a water bath before putting it on the grill. I used the non stick one. One thing I found out is that there is smoke released from the grill as our fire alarm went off. We couldn't smell much of anything. From now on I will use it under the hood vent over stove top.

What are you growing and is there a particular system you are using? Aerogrow, perhaps?
