www.northof49birch.ca sells birch syrup and a couple of blends. I have had the birch and maple syrup blend which I liked very much. I don't know about shipping costs - they are in Cochrane, Ontario and they were selling at a farmer's market when we were there.

How stupid of me not to know that Takesan Kishibori is the same thing as Tokusen Maru-Daizu. Thank goodness you're right here to correct me by pointing this out.
-
You are right. I posted in the wrong thread.

Somewhere on eGullet a soy sauce called Takesan Kishibori Shoyu was mentioned. I went to order something from Amazon today and noticed it was on my wish list. Is anyone familiar with this? I'm trying to decide whether or not to treat myself to this.

No, I haven't but next time I'm there I'll have a look. Thanks for the suggestion.

John would agree. We aren't anywhere near a Trader Joe's but when we were, we always bought some. The Costco ones "will do" but TJ's are better.

And another one. https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/bone-in-beef-short-ribs/

@Tri2Cook That's a great buy. Here's A recipe we like. The ribs, though, are not smoked. https://www.cookinglight.com/recipes/sweet-sticky-short-ribs

@shain Yes, please. -
That looks tasty. Did you use a regular white cabbage or Savoy?
-
@JoNorvelleWalker Just like Meatloaf "two out of three ain't bad".
-
Those are nice looking tomatoes on the salad. Were they as tasty as they looked?
-
I made the dish for supper tonight that @patti linked to above. We liked it a lot, though I did garnish it with cilantro as well as the green onions the recipe called for.

If it's any consolation, my sister was, until now, the only person I knew who bothered by the chalaza the same way you are. So there are two of you.

I just went through this. There certainly are some novel ideas in there, such as using banana peels. I admit I have never given them a second thought. I'm amazed at the ideas these chef's came up with.

Remember this?

@AAQuesada That is one beautiful table! -
Can you give me more info on the soup please?
-
This is the one we have and are very happy with it.

I'll be curious to read what you put in your soup. I used to love cabbage soup, with tomatoes, but I haven't had it in years. I'd use chicken broth, not water, and I'd also use the celery tops.

Zehr's sale would have ended yesterday and Metro started today. I assume by squares you mean sticks? I like those also but I have NEVER seen them on sale and the Lanctantia butter is one sale I look out for. The odd time I have gotten a raincheck and John will go pick up the butter a week or so later. The man has no shame. He will pick up the sticks and when he goes through the cash he has never been questioned. That is the only time I get sticks.

Metro has Lanctantia on sale this week for $3.44. Not as good a price as Loblaws last week but still pretty good. Probably won't see it on sale now anywhere for a while. These things seem to go in cycles.

Sure they are.
