Good morning everyone! Thanks so much for the kind words and encouragement. My cleaning angel is coming in a bit so I'm up pre-cleaning (yes, I'm psychotic). Yes, there will be another stop at a liquor store tomorrow on the way home from the airport to stock me up further with wine--side note: it's hard to find my delicious boxed wine due to packaging shortages apparently, so, we stock up when we can. The deer are running around here like crazy--we need signs like that on the dirt roads lol. I saw several had been hit on the highway near my house . I think what I call oyster stew is more like a soup lol......I'm sure it's not authentic at all and if I make it, mine will contain some crappie or bass too. But I will detail it all I adore my Vacmaster. I realize now that I wish I had gotten one years before. It is SO useful for us I really feel like I couldn't live without it. Vac packing liquids helps save a lot of space in our freezers....broth is able to lay flat instead of in containers etc. VM is a part of the family lol.

WOW! Rifle or bow...I'm guessing rifle. I really didn't know that hunting in Nevada was a thing.

Deer season opens Wednesday--and duck, goose, pheasant, quail etc. is going on. I usually put a little Christmas tree in there with lights. My extension cords got up and walked away so I had to buy some today--I'll get to that tomorrow. ....maybe lol.

It's already almost Dec. 1st 😳. Our friend gets here Wednesday about mid-morning. As usual, I'm soooooooo behind. I do have Christmas decor up--except for his bedroom which I will do tomorrow afternoon. Not that he probably cares lol. The cats seem particularly interested in the Christmas tree this year. I put it in a different spot and they won't stay out of it. It is a flocked tree and they come out covered and they are tracking it everywhere. So, I'm blaming them for me being not on track 😁. Went to the grocery store and liquor store this morning. I forgot a few things. I don't know if I will get back out or just be fine with what I have. The pandemic has really ramped up my OCD about needing to have more than one of everything around here. I ordered a big amount from Misfits and Imperfect foods that got here Saturday so I'm set for fresh veggies until next Saturday. I also got some shrimp and some cheeses. Stuff I bought today: These oysters were all 1.99. Super cheap for around here so I bought them all out. The weather is going to be ridiculously hot Wed, Thurs and Fri but then Saturday it's a high in the 50's so maybe oyster stew or a seafood stew for that night. The sell by date is tomorrow so I decided it would be smart to go ahead and freeze them. Experience has taught me that you can't freeze these pop-top container--the oyster juice expands and you have a big mess--so vac pac to the rescue. I was surprised to see tomatillos so I got some to make maybe a pork chili verde....those bread bowls I thought would be cute to put his favorite onion dip in. Port wine cheese ball 'cause I like those. These got in the cart. They aren't bad, but they aren't super great either. I detect NO gingerbread taste in the Kit Kats--more like butterscotch. And regular peanut butter cups are much better. I'll put them in a bowl to look festive at least. More stuff Couldn't remember how much dressing mix I had--meant to order from the spice place but I forgot--thus the bottled dressing. Enchilada sauce in case I am out of strength to make my own. It's pretty good if you doctor it up a bit. Croutons were a dollar a bag. Bargain! Puff pastry for a green bean tart. Pickles for roast beef\pickle roll ups. Yeah, my vow to get new appetizer ideas has not come to fruition. And this especially for @Smithy if the stores have had this before, I never noticed it. I'm off to switch laundry and clean out the fridge and some cabinets so stuff doesn't fall out when you open the door. Sigh. lol.

Still in the Mexican area, I'd do enchiladas with a red sauce.

I haven't even looked at Amazon today. I got an alert that they started their BF sales yesterday so I looked for a few minutes and saw nothing at all interesting.

Sure! The original recipe site seems to no longer be working so I searched further and this recipe is exactly like it.

Thanksgiving dinner for us last night. Deviled eggs Cranberry Mandarin orange salad Mushroom\onion\green bean\blue cheese tart The smoked meats from Joe's BBQ that I talked about on the Thanksgiving thread--brisket, turkey, pulled pork in bbq sauce and jalapeño cheddar sausages Scalloped potatoes and creamed Brussels sprouts also Assortment of tiny pies from Tiny Pies in Houston TX

Hey, my Grammy made an Easter themed deviled egg holder in her ceramics class like a zillion years ago. You will look cool with the eggs cut like that......I know that plating might be a challenge. Off the top of my head do you have some ice cube trays.....or a platter with some lettuce wedged in to hold them up.....

We just dropped the bread off at the in-laws house and visited outside for a bit. Ronnie decided he might want to go hunting tomorrow so it was best to get it done today. Brother and sister in law seemed fine .....then we went over and broke the news to mother in law in person that we wouldn't be there tomorrow. She was sad, but I think she will be ok. Sigh. I hope it's easier when we tell her we won't be there for Christmas either. Double sigh. It's nice with it just being us I don't have to really stress about what to make--I'll putz around the kitchen all day tomorrow. I got a bag of cranberries in my Imperfect delivery so I want to do something with those today. I've put all the meat in the fridge to thaw. Need to hard boil some eggs, too.

Ditto. I like to sit here and pretend I'm there and I pick out what I'd order.

@Ann_TOMG what an awful experience on top of being super worried about Moe. You did good and handled things so well!! I'm so glad you're both home safe. Your pork verde looks incredible. I haven't made that forever. Is your recipe on your blog? @robirdstxThat stew looks really good. I like that you make everything in big cuts. I wanna taste the celery, carrots, etc. @Kim ShookI've been thinking about you and hope you're not working yourself to the bone. I'll chime in and agree that your sandwich night is a lot fancier than mine ever would be! We've been eating a LOT of ducks. A LOT. I'm pretty sure I've developed a quack and a definite waddle lol. These are pintails Roasted fingerling potatoes and bruss. sprouts along with After seeing @Norm Matthewsgoulash it made me hungry for it. My version is probably not authentic but it hit the spot. I used venison burger and some peppers from the garden. Broccoli beef Last night I roasted a pheasant and fixed up some jarred Alfredo sauce to go over store bought ravioli and opened some green beans I canned. I was running late because I've been putting up Christmas decor.

Wow good job! Thank you!

It's good! Bet you couldn't tell the difference between that and an apple pie. Somewhere around here I made one and posted about it......but I don't remember where.

Such a great movie. Another use is to fry them and add to a BLT sandwich. Either with a ripe tomato or without.
-
They have a tangy taste like a tomatillo if you've had that...If fried correctly they are crunchy on the outside with a light batter and then tangy. Good dipped in ranch mixed with Sriracha or something spicy like that--or just something spicy imo.
-
Mine have always been rock hard. I've never tried, but I think if they had even a bit of ripeness that they would turn too mushy.
-
Agreed with the batter. I picked some huge green tomatoes before the first freeze in the hopes that they would turn. They are still green. Ronnie is not a fan, but I love a good fried green 'mater. I don't make them often because I would never sacrifice a KS tomato that could be a delicious red one , but if it's going to freeze then all bets are off lol. I slice them pretty thick--maybe an inch and I like the light beer batter that I use for fish.
-
Well because it is low fat....if it's advertised as no fat THAT isn't true. But it truly is low fat IMO.
-
This would be my vote.
-
I can't move there, so would you come live with me.....and just cook. ***drooling***

Super fun and the FOOD. Sigh. I dreamed about the food last night I swear.
-
Is it similar to this This came in a RG box a while back. Ingredients are dried chiles, crystalized lime, brown sugar, sea salt and Mexican oregano. GOOD stuff. I'd never heard of dipping fruit etc. in something like this either. I like to slice up Granny Smith apples and dip away. Edited to say that I'd love to browse around in a store like that right now. I really don't like shopping a lot, but I do like stores like this and it's been years--waaaaay before covid--since I've been out and about. The internet is too easy.....but sometimes I do miss browsing and actually seeing displays.

You're double killing me.
