Lahpet thoke style salad (Burmese fermented tea leaves salad)
Shelby replied to a topic in RecipeGullet
I'm definitely no expert, but the kits I've ordered are always with green leaves. @liuzhouwill know more I'm sure. No, they aren't cheap.....I think when I bought last they were a tiny bit cheaper, but like everything now, the price is higher. There are just two of us, so one kit makes at least 2 meals, if not 3. I go rogue and add chicken and tomatoes etc, though which stretches it out a bit more. -

I got obsessed a while back, too. Maybe you can google around and find it cheaper, but I ordered this kit from Amazon . Good stuff. -
Wowza, I'm impressed! Thanks!

You have a good memory!!! I did make these a few years ago but I can't remember where I posted them here lol.

@Ann_TOh what I wouldn't give for even just a bite of that chicken pot pie. That looks incredible. @weinooI love shiitake mushrooms. The last few times I've been to the big grocery store they haven't had any. I keep thinking that we're going to be out of tomatoes soon, but the struggling garden keeps producing some ....they are tiny like grape tomatoes, but they still taste really good so I'll keep on having patience and peeling those tiny guys lol. BLT's once again. My cleaning angel gave me a beautiful bunch of zinnias and mixed in she used her abundance of basil as greenery--I thought that was such a neat idea--anyway, having that and some tomatoes going south I made more sauce. Salad and Italian sausage to go with. Last night was @Ann_T's Spicy Honey Garlic chicken with some tomatoes that I sprinkled some onion, salt and Chinese rice vinegar on.

Couldn't find a different spot to put this......but...honey bees have taken over my hummingbird feeder!

If Ronnie is out of town and I'm starving...I have a terribly weird thing I make. I boil a package of ramen noodles without the seasoning packet and open a jar of store bought sauce and cover it with the green can of parmesan. I know...it's awful. It came from when I was a kid and didn't want to take the time for spaghetti to cook lol. Now if Ronnie is home and I'm exhausted like I seem to be all the time. Sandwiches. Or breakfast.

@Norm MatthewsYour bread looks heavenly! I would certainly like it! @TicTacOMG that seafood....AND the fried green tomatoes. @Ann_TBeautiful halibut. There's been a lot going on and I haven't been taking pictures like I usually do but here's a few. Big sandwiches I made a huge amount of salsa so we had Mexican a couple of nights... Seafood enchiladas and tacos

I've still been ordering weekly from Misfits, just haven't been taking pictures because it's been the same old stuff that I've posted before. But, this week they had figs!!!! Happy dance in the kitchen. The cans of sparkling water were 4 for $2.39. I just opened one and they are pretty good. Some flavored waters leave a bad taste in my mouth. Don't judge the amount of Cheez Whiz 🤣. They've offered it for a few weeks now. We think it tastes much better than the Velvetta bricks and it's waaaaaay cheap on Misfits--$3.60 a jar. Ronnie went to the grocery store in town yesterday and took a picture of what the price is there: $5.99 a jar!!! I wonder if it's that expensive elsewhere or just in this area? I think I've probably bought at least 12 jars of the stuff--I can't pass up a good deal 😬 Cost for this order (2 boxes worth) $99.85 subtotal 9.85 tax 3.99 cold pack fee 7.99 shipping $121.34 total

I feel the same way about raisin bread as @liuzhoufeels about corn. But I'm glad others like it
-
I still wish it was decent. When I move in with you I will bring corn and duck guts and make it alllllll 🤗
-
I'm sorry....it must be the fresh corn.....
-
HE'S strange for not enjoying the melodic sounds of all that work 😁

It's such hard work...but so rewarding when you hear those "pops" of the lids I always love seeing what people can.

Beautiful!!!

Anna, I would love to be able to show up at your doorstep with a big bowl of this!

That's my kind of meal. Is the red sauce dressing for the salad or sauce for the pasta or? Ronnie had set some chicken quarters out of the freezer for dinner last night. I had planned on frying them until he also brought in a bag of duck livers, hearts and gizzards. I HATE frying hearts. No matter how much I dry them etc. one always pops and gets oil everywhere --including all over me. So, I pivoted to a new recipe that I had been wanting to try. Deviled Duck Hearts by Hank Shaw. I figured it would work fine if I included the livers and gizzards. I pressure cooked the gizzards for 45 mins. on High first. Then I included them in the rest of the steps for the recipe. This was a total keeper and one I hope to make when our hunter friend comes again. Still getting some garden tomatoes Roasted potatoes and chicken and some fried okra on the side.

I'm gonna need more corona beans.......
-
What a great idea! How long did you marinate? I love pickled shrimp and I haven't made that in forever. I need to rectify that.
-
@DejahYour meals are always so good looking. Scout and Ronnie got some teal yesterday so duck for dinner! Stuffed with lemons, onions and thyme springs. Rubbed with butter and seasoning. I made another batch of those wonderful RG corona beans. Alfredo with mushrooms and artichokes and our tomatoes. Ronnie really liked the beans mixed with the tomatoes. Had some limes and lemons going south so I juiced a bunch and froze the juice...saved some to make lemon posset for dessert.
-
That's smart. I've never thought about doing that before. I could do that with some of my onions next summer..... Can you tell me approx. time and temperature?

Great looking food everyone! I'm doing a quick catch up. Some of these might be before our guest came.... BLT's Fried chicken Spaghetti night Our friend brought us some boudin so breakfast had to be made Last night was pizza night along with some fabulous corona beans that @blue_dolphinhere

It worked great! They only deviation was that it took more like 40 minutes when I put the Corona beans back in the pot, not 20. Loved the beans!
