  1. You mean, like this? Linguine with wild mushrooms and chickweed in cream sauce, garnished with nasturtiums and herbs. I don't like cream sauces usually, but this hit the spot for yesterday's lunch. Very simple: chopped mushrooms cooked in a little butter, salt and pepper to taste, a little lemon juice; add chickweed; add light cream to the pan. Add cooked pasta directly to the pan, reduce sauce just a tiny bit. Serve immediately with chopped nasturtium flowers, chives and some cheese on top. That. Is. Beautiful. I've always wanted to taste those flowers. Are they kind of a sweet/flowery taste?
  2. Hi Soba! I think yours was one of the very first blogs I ever read here. I'm glad to get to read another one!! I can't wait to see those gorgeous nasturtium flowers on something.
  3. OMG that store looks like heaven to me. I could live in there. I like how you write....the gr"assfed" beef made me laugh out loud.

  5. I've really enjoyed reading, Heidi! I was traveling so I didn't get a chance to comment too much, but I always stopped to catch up with what you were doing. Thank you for sharing!!
  6. I like roasted asparagus with a balsamic vinegar drizzled on top to go with rich, creamy sauces.
  7. Those look SO freaking good. My husband loves fig newtons.

    Celery leaves

I use them in potato salad.
  9. It's so funny that you bring this up. I had a box stuck up in the cabinet and since I was by myself for dinner last night, I thought I'd give it a go. I hadn't had it since 1993 or before. OMG I don't know how I ingested it back then. It didn't even taste cheesy. Now I have a whole tupperware container of leftover in my fridge.
  10. I've never been over there so I can't offer anything except for that I hope you guys have a great time and be safe! I hope you'll be doing a blog here about your trip.
  11. I have two dents in mine already and I have NO idea how it happened. That being said, I still like how stainless looks. There are only two of us here, so I really don't notice a ton of fingerprints. I have a polish that you rub on with a paper towel that really shines everything up, but I only do that if I have to have a dinner here.
  12. I have a big bag of those mustard seeds, too! We used some in making summer sausage. I'm going to check out the grainy mustard thread. That sounds right up my alley!

    Dinner! 2011

    OH YUM.
  14. WOW! We have Dollar Stores around here, but I've never ever seen one with FRESH produce. Does 99 cents mean EVERYTHING in the store is that price?
  15. I used to be until I had a huge panic attack after ingesting iced tea all day long. I really think it was due to all of the caffeine. I used to have sun tea going all day every day here in Kansas. Makes me want to try it again..... Loved the market!

  17. Your kitchen is going to be great! I can't wait to see the finished product. Your stools look a heck-of-a-lot more comfy than mine do. I have a love/hate relationship with ours. They are uncomfortable, BUT they fit under the island in the middle of the kitchen so perfectly and I love that they can be out of the way like that. Can't wait to see dinner! We didn't have to go to a family dinner today (yay!) so we're doing a mini Easter dinner.
  18. I've used those before. I think they're pretty good. Not as good as the long, skinny ones, IMO. They are a bit more....pulpy??? I sliced and salted mine and let them sit for a while to get some of the moisture out.
  19. Cool. You guys have a band saw.
  20. I got this book in the mail yesterday and I can't put it down. It's really, really good. Many references (so far) to all of the food in the cookbook.
  21. Those soup croutons are the first thing that caught my eye on the table. They look like nekkid spaghetti o's. I'm dying to try them. Must google and order some. I wonder how they shape them so small and round like that?
