    Dinner 2023

They are very much sought after around here. They started spawning about a week ago. It's been chilly. Some years we don't catch any. A lot of the lakes have a 21" minimum length limit, but the lake he went to has an 18" limit.

I hadn't made fried mushrooms in a really long time. Ronnie said he was hungry for them. I like to do them when I'm frying other things--they stay hot as molten lava for so long that they can wait until the other stuff is done lol.

@C. sapidus CRAB ENVY HAPPENING Salad and spaghetti Next night Lemon roasted broccoli with parm cheese. Wanted to add some toasted pine nuts but I guess I don't have any. However, my cabinets are a total wreck so I could have like 60 lbs of them and not know sigh. Roasted chicken half Tortellini to go with Ronnie went fishing and caught some walleye. So good. Also fried some mushrooms. The usual spinach and macaroni and cheese to go with. Been hungry for something Asian. So, fried rice, the last of the soup dumplings and sticky wings. Breakfast--yes, I was out of ideas and it was getting late in the evening lol. Boudin, fried potatoes. Tried a new recipe in the IP. Brussels sprouts in a garlic, cream cheese parmesan sauce. It was good. Last night pepperoni/canadian bacon/mushroom pizza, mushroom salad. Basil that Ronnie is growing. Homemade ice cream and berries for dessert
  4. I've pre-ordered: Tin to Table: Fancy, Snacky Recipes for Tin-thusiasts and A-fish-ionados by Anna Hezel It's supposed to be here April 25th. I really don't know what came over me except I've been reading the tinned fish subject here. Now I'm going to have to spend more money and stock up on tinned fish.

Spicy/tomato/caper/olive pasta thing again along with, and I swear this time, the last of the doves Fries and a few fried mushrooms....should have made more mushrooms they really hit our spots. Along with turkey paninis. Used the panini maker to do some chicken/onion/jalapeno quesadillas Worked really well and didn't use any oil to fry in so a tad bit healthier Roasted turkey quarter, stuffing and collard greens Blackberry cobbler and homemade ice cream for dessert Cream cheese/green onion/cheddar cheese stuffed jalapenos Fries and more sandwiches--I seem to be obsessed with my panini maker at the moment Tuesday we had a meeting that started at 4 and was an hour away so I started a pork roast with carrots and potatoes that morning. Didn't get home until about 6:30 so I was super glad I had done that. Last night spaghetti with Italian sausage and venison meatballs and salad

Is your egg noodle recipe on your blog?
  8. @Annie_H I've been meaning to thank you again for the good review of the jarred artichokes from Misfits. They are really good. I hope they have them next week.

    Well that's amazing!
  11. It depends on if you're talking spring, mid-summer or September 🤣. Spring I'm anal and meticulous about getting every weed, summer it depends how hot it is and how close a big weed is to a plant, September I'm over it lol. Seriously, we both take our hoes out in the morning and use those. If you do it every day, it's not a lot to keep up with. Buuuuut, skip a few days and you're in trouble. After the tomatoes are all planted we get a huge round bale of straw and spread that--it helps. I know we could lay down newspaper etc. but we don't. We also have a small tiller. It sounds like a chainsaw and the damn carburetor has to be replaced every year it seems like, but it's handy to go up and down rows. Right now it's the hoes and my fingers plucking out weeds that are too close to the onions to hoe safely.
  12. 😳 How dare you, sir! 🤣
  13. I'll also say that I do like the fried kind if someone else does it and it's not drowned in sauce that makes it soggy.....or maybe if someone else made them I'd be happy as a clam regardless so that I didn't have to fry and clean up lol.
  14. I don't usually--the battered are a pain lol. AND I end up picking off the breading because I love the pepper by itself with the cheese and enchilada sauce.
  15. I do a bastardized version of cheese stuffed poblanos that I'm sure you've seen. I steam broil them in the CSO for 10 mins on each side. Cool and then peel. Then do a slit and get as many seeds out as I can, but getting out the top ones next to the stem ruin the structure of the pepper and then you can't stuff it. So, yeah, we have seeds and don't eat the very top. I simply stuff with shredded sharp cheddar and top with a bit of enchilada sauce. Ronnie would love it if I included venison burger but I rarely do because I love them as they are and there is plenty of meat in the main dish that I make with them.
  16. I've been pondering on this. You've done a dozen before with success using the racks you linked and since you kept each batch separate, putting them all back into the same egg carton together, it makes it even more perplexing why this happened. The temperature of the eggs was my first thought, but leaving them on the counter longer before putting them in would only make them be more over done. And since since some were raw and some were done correctly in each separate batch that wouldn't be it anyway. Sigh. I just can't figure it out. If it makes you feel any better I've done steamed eggs three times when making breakfast for dinner. The first batch and the last batch were far to done for Ronnie's taste. The middle batch turned out perfect. All done the same way, same time, same amount of eggs.
  17. That looks incredible. Want Want Want.
  18. Look how big these lemons from Misfits are! Like oranges lol. They're called Eureka Lemons.
  19. Do they really?????!!!! I LOVE the goblets (that's what I call them) in the first picture. I haven't been able to find them since I broke ours. I will be purchasing if I can.
  20. Ooooooh I think I've expressed --maybe here--my love for the blue rimmed glass items. I got my first batch at Pier One. Managed to break most of them. Found some on Wayfair a while back (I think it was Wayfair). Anyway, it's a good thing I'm not there because your whole camper would be full of that stuff.
  21. I'd be torn between the chiles rellenos and the huevos rancheros..I love both. Definitely a margarita too.
  22. Have you done that many at the same time before?
  23. I didn't make it, so I'm no help at all with a recipe, but for Thanksgiving I bought Sweet Potato Pecan Praline ice cream. It needed....something....maybe more cinnamon.
  24. Sorry yes, I'm sure your method is super great!
  25. NO But you all know I'm a tomato skin-a-phobe
