  1. Nothing is boring with Miracle Whip.
  2. Wow. I'd love to see pictures. I know you're not too busy or anything Get a floor fan going. Gonna get hot in there today.
  3. *rummaging around for stocking* Must be ready for Santa.
  4. Christmas is on the 24th?
  5. Haha! I thought about you yesterday. I picked a total of three okra. My plants look 100% better than they did last year, though, so I'm hoping for okra to be coming out of my ears soon.
  6. Sure is pretty, shain. I love me some pickled beets!

    Dinner 2016 (Part 6)

I've been craving hummus, shain, and yours looks so good. Robirdstix, your pasta looks great. Norm! Thanks for the meatball recipe. I've been wanting to make venison stroganoff but I may switch to venison swedish meatballs after seeing your dish! Elsie, ribs in the IP are now on the list for this weekend. They look sooooo gooooood. I was too hot to cook much last night. If I was smart I'd make something this morning for tonight, but I've never been accused of being that smart lol. Sandwiches again. Homemade buns. Onions and banana peppers from the garden. Good stuff.
  8. I have the plug..didn't know it until Kay had a problem and I use a Brita water pitcher to fill the cuis. I still am glad to know this and will drain it often.
  9. I've gotta get me some smallish button mushrooms. Every time I see your pickled ones I drool.
  10. More details on the wings, please . Brown them first? When you say chili, you mean they were spicy? I need to make this.
  11. The lowest it goes is 100 F.
  12. That sounds good. I'd do the crust in the cuis, then the filling in the IP, then back to the cuis for the topping.
  13. I don't use a paper towel, either. Just the loose foil. Actually, the first time I did it I didn't cover it with anything and it was fine but that could have just been beginners luck.
  14. Ok, I just bought these pans. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ONHPVIC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Dinner 2016 (Part 6)

Oh gosh, that looks good. What sort of tool do you use to pick the snail meat out? A toothpick? I could eat a huge plate of all of that right now. It's hot here, too. I mean, I know it's summer but this week is super hot. Heat advisories every day. I think today is supposed to feel like 108. Anyway, I was not in the mood for anything besides salad last night. I used some of the left over steak and some shrimp. Rotuts, ignore the olives, please lol.
  16. Ok, so, I made the Anadama bread yesterday. It didn't turn out nearly as pretty as Kay's did. First of all, I only have one smaller pan and that recipe makes enough for one large pan or the two smaller ones like Kay has. I probably should have used some patience and just done one loaf at a time but I opted to use a big pan. I proofed the dough in the pan at Kay's suggested 110 degrees for 15 mins. It wasn't above the pan so I did it for 15 mins more. By then, it was about 3/4 of an inch above the lip and I decided that was enough in case it rose more during baking. I set the oven at 350 degrees for 30 mins. I checked on it with 18 mins left and saw it was already browning far too quickly on top so I shoved some foil over it (which also probably contributed to it not looking as good as Kay's). Anyway, I ended up baking it for the whole 40 mins, took it out, cooled it a bit and got it out of the pan. It smelled SO good. We each had a piece with dinner and we really liked it. So, things I would do different: I'm going to buy another pan so I have 2 smaller ones for next time. Also, I only had dark molasses. Maybe I'll use honey next time or a lighter molasses? The color of the bread is like a wheat bread. But, the flavor is good. Thank you Kay!
  17. I think they look great and I'm super excited that the steam/bake works like that. I will for sure take on more desserts etc. if I don't have to mess with a water bath.
  18. Fess up. These pics were taken in some sort of cookbook history museum, right? Right? That is a fabulous collection. I'm going to stare at the titles when I have more time....and I bet my shelves get a bit fuller lol.
  19. I'm not even hungry and I want an egg now.
  20. Stacked up cookbooks make great end tables. Just sayin'.
  21. I did another ear of corn last night. 15 mins on super steam and we were very pleased. Also did a couple of baked potatoes. I LOVE this oven. Doesn't heat the kitchen up at all.
