    Dinner 2016 (Part 6)

LOL yes I have a special SV set up......takes a few hours but then presto.... Sauce is just run-of-the-mill cocktail sauce. Ketchup, horseradish and lemon juice.
  2. Oh I love Clamato juice. The can that says Hot Chicken Sandwich is gravy? And maybe there are popsicles happening soon?

    Dinner 2016 (Part 6)

    SV'd steaks last night
  4. Made baked taters last night. Phenomenal. We both agreed they were the best baked taters we've ever had. Fluffy and creamy at the same time. I even ate the skin which I never do. 55 mins on bake/steam and then I used the keep warm feature until the rest of dinner was ready.

    Dinner 2016 (Part 6)

Yup Dinner envy going on here
  6. I've been thinking about the pretzel process and comparing it to when I make bagels. I boil the formed bagels in water for about 30 seconds on each side. I wonder if I could brush them with water and simply steam them and then bake?
  7. I vote that the other doctor goes
  8. Spent this afternoon playing I decided to make something from the manual that came with the Cuis because I'm such a newbie. I settled on soft pretzels. I liked that I could test the steam function along with the baking function. I had to add another tablespoon or so of water to get the dough to feel right....but that could have been my fault. Sometimes I'm heavy handed when scooping out flour. Yes, my pretzel shaping leaves much to be desired. I did some with regular salt and some with black salt. Out of the oven I thought the tops were getting a bit too brown so I covered these during the last 4 minutes of baking. These are good. Very pretzel-y. The steam function is awesome with bread. I can't wait to make a loaf of French bread. Had to have one with spicy mustard. Very pleased with this new kitchen addition. Very very pleased
  9. I still think Kerry needs it.......and her husband could take care of the cow...I know he wouldn't mind. (I only knew the curling because I got obsessed with it during the last Olympics. Yes, I am a nerd.)
  10. I have the same iron That milk separator would even be cool as like a planter......I think Kerry needs to go back and get that sucker. Hmmmm.....the object in the picture.....some sort of snow remover? Is that a brush on the end? Is it used in the sport of curling on the ice?
  11. Wayne, that garlic looks so good. So do the tomatoes! I'm slowly harvesting the onions. No laughing, I know they're small--I never can grow big red onions....the white ones are bigger...., but they are good
  12. I didn't make this....wish I could make crust this good. My mother-in-law made this rhubarb strawberry pie for us. SO good. Perfect balance--not too sweet, not too tart.

    Dinner 2016 (Part 6)

Lovely pizza, John. Although Rotuts will have something to say about the green peppers . I personally love 'em on pizza. Last night was breakfast for dinner. Used my Cuisinart steam oven for the toast. I never thought I would be exclaiming about toast, but boy is it good. No picture. Night before last was spaghetti night. Bread toasted in a skillet because it was pre-Cuisinart lol. Lettuce and cukes from the garden.
  14. Gorgeous stuff, Elaina. Those beans look just like the pole beans I had growing...before bunnies and hail lol. I bet they will enjoy having something to climb on.
  15. Ya'll weren't lying about the toast.
  16. OMG THE LIGHT IT HAS A LIGHT
  17. AWESOME!!!!! We will be learning together. I just got one delivered today. I can't wait to get him fired up. Toast will be my first ....we're having breakfast for dinner tonight. I wish I could set mine on top of each other.... might have to look into getting a cart of some kind. Right now the steam boy isn't in his permanent spot....but he's sure happy here. The Breville feels like she has a friend
  18. Boy, it's liberal up there in Canada Ok, we're pouring a glass of wine right now so we can have cocktails together. I like the candle. Adds ambiance.
  19. I am so impressed with these kids! Like others have said, they spell and have better penmanship than many other people I've seen from the US. Really enjoyed this, Liuzhou.
  20. Me too. I want to go look and see how many Manitoulin trips they've taken us on... I always feel like we're all having happy hour together.
  21. This is interesting. I wonder why they make the other slot then? Why not just have a one slot toaster. Does the other slot keep the toast warm? I don't have a toaster. I am so excited for this trip oh and HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!! Will there be fireworks over the water? Yes, yes, get the steam boy (girl?) out I am now hungry for steak.
  22. TOMATO ENVY, CHRIS
  23. Diana, thank you so much! I feel very very blessed that it's come back halfway decent. When I get a chance I'll post some pics of right after the storm as compared to now. It was too depressing earlier lol. You're so right about the weeds. I always wait until I've watered or we've had a good rain. We have a huge chance for some downpours (nohainohailnohailnohailnohail) beginning this afternoon so I'll probably spend tomorrow morn. pulling. I know it was everyone's positivity here that helped my poor bedraggled plants come back
  24. AWWWW I love your potato helper And LOVELY taters.
  25. I honestly don't think the weight of the eggs matter...I've done all sizes together --my eggs are usually from chicken down the road and there are a WIDE range of sizes lol. The steamer basket might have been a difference, I've never done them in that.
