  1. You just made my day. I'm sitting here having a pity party over my never ending poison ivy. I needed this laugh. PS--Judging by how dreadful those vegetables look, I'm scared to ask what the steak was like.

    Dinner 2018

Needed something easy so that always seems to be breakfast
  6. It wasn't super long in the beginning....I've just tacked on to it so it feels longer
  7. I compromised with myself. 30 minute nap. Now time to sit on the porch. I'll come over for ribs after a few more glasses of wine.
  8. Thanks, guys. I'm having a hard time deciding whether to take a nap, or pour a glass of wine and sit out there.
  9. Yes it's treated--I think I would like the grey color, but we've also tossed around the idea of staining it this fall. DEFINITELY NOT painting it. It goes good with the new Weber
  10. Anna, you run circles around me. I'm really tired today. I have a family thing I have to go to and then I hope to have a big nap. It's bad when you wake up in the morning and the first thing you think about is when you can lay down again. And, it is I that thank you guys for being here with me--you keep me sane, and motivated at the same time
  11. Good morning! I can't believe how fast time flies. I don't think I sat down yesterday until I was eating dinner. Between cooking and horse racing it was a full day. The final touches were put on the porch. It looks so pretty. Just a couple three pictures --after all, it is the holder of the new Weber They even built me new bird feeders out of the old porch wood. After all that hard work, the guys were hungry so I made some sausage rolls with some jalapeño mustard for dipping and set out some pimento cheese and celery Of course, we had to break in the new grill last night so we had venison burgers. I had made some of @cyalexa's buns and put them in the freezer--I was glad to be ahead of the game for once in my life I made potato salad Broccoli salad And our friend did the burgers and an onion that went on the side Best burger ever! And that's it for this trip. He will be back in September for dove and duck season. Until then, if you need me, I'll be sitting on my new porch
  12. Thank you!!! She is pretty amazing Happy Saturday ya'll (and Happy Preakness Day to any horse racing fans) Another busy day on tap. Had a storm last night and got some much needed rain so we don't have to water the garden--YAY. The guys came home with some really nice fish 3 big catfish, some white bass and a wiper I think. I forgot to take pictures of the fish before they cleaned them but here they are after The usual breakfast got made They had such a late lunch that no one wanted any appetizer type stuff so we skipped that last night and went right into dinner Fried catfish and frog legs Asparagus from the garden My plate I gotta hurry up and get outside to do my chores before it gets too hot. Be back later
  13. I knew it
  14. My mom used to work on a peony farm. Sucker budding is done in order to make sure you get the main bud to bloom the biggest and best that it can--the "suckers" are off-shoots of smaller buds that form on the same stem and they "suck" nutrients from the main bud. You want to make sure you identify the main bud that forms and then pick off the smaller off-shoot buds.
  15. O M G I am SO SO proud of you!!!! I swear on my life, the blossoms will be amazing. Keep doing it every year and they get even more amazing. Edited to say my mom will be proud of you too
  16. Thank you! I love this time of year when I am motivated can keep the garden looking nice. Yeah, we don't let on that the bench isn't for her. I'll snap a picture when we get the grill put together and put on the porch We have a deep chest freezer in the garage, an upright freezer in the basement and two fridges with freezers. So four ? Or two and two halves?
  17. Thank you! Is there any other/better way? The guys texted that they are on their way home. With tons of fish. And they are hungry. They requested turkey sandwiches and more onion dip and chips. Excuse the paper plates. I am on dishwashing strike for a couple hours.
  18. Our soil does have some sand in it. Right now the weeds are pretty easy to pull. If I let them overtake, it's a lot harder. Hogweed gets really tough later in the summer. Ronnie has sprinklers set up all around the perimeter. In a couple weeks we will lay soaker hose down on the tomatoes.
  19. *lighting a candle*
  20. I am going to bore you all with this mornings garden pictures: Beans cukes onions Potatoes ( I love the flowers ) 'Maters eggplant volunteer corn okra peppers corn i planted watermelons poking through zucchini
  21. Good morning! Almost afternoon already. Phew. The guys went fishing today. I hope they catch enough for dinner! I weeded the garden. I'm glad to have gotten it done. I don't think I've shared the picture of the bench that Ronnie made me so that I can sit and view the garden. My other one rotted over the winter. Chum approved. Anyway, here is my view of the garden this morning from the bench. I had Ruffles and onion dip for breakfast. I am such a healthy eater.
  22. My guys were super exhausted . They have worked so hard. They sat outside on the new porch/deck and enjoyed the nice evening. I have to admit, I wish I could have sat out there too! But, I was cooking and that's just the way it goes Ann's honey garlic chicken with some of my cowboy candy to make it a bit more spicy I did pork belly in the IP with some broth from the Asian market....always good. And I had 4 egg rolls left in the freezer so that was perfect. My plate I didn't get a picture of our friends plate...but he declared this the best meal of the week so far I've done as many dishes as I can, I'm pooped and this DAMN poison ivy is the pits. See ya'll in the morning and thanks for reading
  23. OMG then you come on over! It really was good.....just not gourmet or anything.....but I'm not a gourmet..... No no the okra was from last year I only have one jar left. Hopefully the okra grows this year. Nah.....well, homemade bread just does trump store bought....
  24. The porch is done......it looks A-MAZ-ING. I can't even express my thanks to our friend. He does too much. He's currently mowing....he claims it's relaxing lol. Anyway, with work being mostly done, tomorrow can be a fun day (I hope) of fishing. So, I made breakfast again--I asked if they wanted something different, but they opted for the same (except using my homemade bread instead of store bought bagels). I cannot seem to make eggs without breaking a yolk I'm off to start cooking--opted for Ann's chicken and probably some lo mein and some pork belly.....I was going to make egg rolls but discovered I'm out of wrappers. I have 4 still in the freezer so we will make do.
