    Dinner 2019

It snowed. A little. I'm pretending that we're snowed in. Next weekend is supposed to be snow, too, hopefully my snowed in dream will come true Anyway, along with snow, it's Ronnie's birthday on Monday which means he gets to pick his favorite meals for a week--that started Friday night with chicken fried venison Last night was potato soup and grilled ham and cheese

Spaghetti night with venison meatballs under there somewhere Oysters as a starter and then a sausage pizza Tostadas Ronnie wanted doves on the grill last night along with scalloped potatoes which gave me a good reason to use one of my Darto pans. Fits perfect into the CSO.

😲 You HAVE to post a picture of one. With a review.
  5. Ohhhhh @Jacksoup I envy your lemons! Here they are about 60 cents a piece right now, but they often go up to a dollar a piece! How about some lemon curd in the Instant Pot?
  6. Ok, yes, it was @ninagluckpost that I was thinking of here (where has she been, by the way, I miss her!)
  7. I'm making dinner but tomorrow I'll look more....I think it was @ninagluck ?

    Breakfast 2019

Completely inspired by @Anna N's incredible looking breakfasts--and lunches and dinners. I decided to get off my butt and make some sushi rice this morning so I could attempt a spam, egg and lettuce onigirazu (or is it onigirazo?--auto correct changes the "u" to an "o"). Mine is a very poor example compared to Anna's--I need more practice for sure. And I might invest in a mold. And a special thanks to my spam fairy for supplying me with single serving spam packets! These are goooooood. Too good, actually. I was going to save half for Ronnie for when he gets home from hunting.....I'm not sure that is the plan now......
  12. Hi Kim! That meat looks lovely. Just by looking at the color of the meat, it looks tender to me. Like Martin, we make burger out of a lot of the shoulders.....but since you have that whole wonderful bone-in piece, I think you should do it low and slow. Like all day slow. It looks too big for the slow cooker, is it? If it's too big for the slow cooker, I'd rub it generously with salt and pepper and put it in a big, deep roasting pan on top of a bunch of sliced onions, carrots, potatoes and chunks of garlic (salt and pepper the veggies, too, a bit). Then pour a nice beef broth (if it's store bought broth, cut back on the salt in other places if the broth is super salty) in so that it mostly covers all the meat. Cover tightly with foil and put it in the oven at 200F for at least 5 hours (Check at 5 hours--it might need way more so start early in the day--you can always keep it warm and you want it falling off the bone tender). If it fits in the slow cooker, do the same steps only on low for like 10 hours. I used to do that with venison roasts when I was still working. I'd start one at 6 in the morning and by 7:30 at night it was so tender and good. You can add some cornstarch to the broth after removing the roast and veggies and make a nice gravy, too. This website is one that I trust and have made several recipes off of--this should give you a direction to start in. And another link from the same site that might be helpful Just remember you can't go wrong with low and slow and covered in tasty broth

    Dinner 2019

🤣 I'll take her share--it all looks DELICIOUS! I hope your mom gets better soon (((hugs))) Like I said yesterday, I wasn't going to mess around with the luck thing--we need all the help we can get! The only thing close to greens that I had were brussel sprouts--I figure that counts. Along with those, Rancho Gordo black eyed peas with Bentons hocks--I did the hocks for a hour in the IP before I did the peas. SO good and tender. Fried chicken and pasta salad to go with (noodles =luck lol).

    Dinner 2019

Happy New Year!!!! I hope every one had a great NYE. We never go anywhere--and I like it that way. Can't get a DUI going from the kitchen to the bedroom (well, not normally, anyway). On to the food. This is venison stew that I made the night before (2018 thread is closed so I'm posting here) For NYE we wanted a bit of everything.... Deviled eggs and pimento cheese Salad Oysters Shrimp Excellent cheese Boudin balls And foie gras Now, I'm off to google all the lucky foods you're supposed to eat on New Year's Day. I already have my Rancho Gordo black eyed peas soaking. After the year we had last year, I'm not taking any chances in the luck dept lol.

    Dinner 2018

Mucinex saved my life last January when I had it. Like others, I had a couple days that I thought I wasn't going to make it. It was over 3 weeks before I felt like a human again. I hope you feel better ASAP. Chicken gizzards with gravy (and a bit of ketchup for me). Leftover cheesy hash browns and salad to go with.

    DARTO pans

We seasoned ours last week--I can't remember how many high heat/flax oil repeats we did. At least 6...probably 8? Anyway, we've done eggs--both scrambled and sunny side up. They slide around like a dream. Do be prepared to also scrub the heck out of them before seasoning.
