My mom and step dad sent us a huge wonderful bag of oysters from Cajun Grocer that we keep in the freezer. A few hours before dinner, we take some out so that they thaw enough to get them open. They are wonderful.

Did a pork roast in the slow cooker the other day. Venison chili Last night was oysters and salmon And now I'm off to plan something fun for dinner tonight ....I need something to distract me from the Chiefs/New England game. I am a die hard Broncos fan. I need this game to have no winners. A score of 0-0 would be nice.

Hey, we got like .70" of snow last night. You can't expect me to get out in that. Smithy, besides the made in japan stamp on the back, are there any other markings that could help locate another one?

I'm so sorry about your plate. It's beautiful. No possibility of gluing? I think you should take the things you enjoy out of the cabinet at home and bring them with you and use them and enjoy them. Accidents may happen, but the pleasure of seeing them far outweighs them being safe and tucked away, I think anyway. Hell, I break things all the time and my house isn't even on wheels. Glad your internet is back

It snowed. A little. I'm pretending that we're snowed in. Next weekend is supposed to be snow, too, hopefully my snowed in dream will come true Anyway, along with snow, it's Ronnie's birthday on Monday which means he gets to pick his favorite meals for a week--that started Friday night with chicken fried venison Last night was potato soup and grilled ham and cheese

They're jalapeños! I swear! I don't even have a single bell pepper in the house!

Spaghetti night with venison meatballs under there somewhere Oysters as a starter and then a sausage pizza Tostadas Ronnie wanted doves on the grill last night along with scalloped potatoes which gave me a good reason to use one of my Darto pans. Fits perfect into the CSO.

Ohhhhh @Jacksoup I envy your lemons! Here they are about 60 cents a piece right now, but they often go up to a dollar a piece! How about some lemon curd in the Instant Pot?

Ok, yes, it was @ninagluckpost that I was thinking of here (where has she been, by the way, I miss her!)

Completely inspired by @Anna N's incredible looking breakfasts--and lunches and dinners. I decided to get off my butt and make some sushi rice this morning so I could attempt a spam, egg and lettuce onigirazu (or is it onigirazo?--auto correct changes the "u" to an "o"). Mine is a very poor example compared to Anna's--I need more practice for sure. And I might invest in a mold. And a special thanks to my spam fairy for supplying me with single serving spam packets! These are goooooood. Too good, actually. I was going to save half for Ronnie for when he gets home from hunting.....I'm not sure that is the plan now......

Hi Kim! That meat looks lovely. Just by looking at the color of the meat, it looks tender to me. Like Martin, we make burger out of a lot of the shoulders.....but since you have that whole wonderful bone-in piece, I think you should do it low and slow. Like all day slow. It looks too big for the slow cooker, is it? If it's too big for the slow cooker, I'd rub it generously with salt and pepper and put it in a big, deep roasting pan on top of a bunch of sliced onions, carrots, potatoes and chunks of garlic (salt and pepper the veggies, too, a bit). Then pour a nice beef broth (if it's store bought broth, cut back on the salt in other places if the broth is super salty) in so that it mostly covers all the meat. Cover tightly with foil and put it in the oven at 200F for at least 5 hours (Check at 5 hours--it might need way more so start early in the day--you can always keep it warm and you want it falling off the bone tender). If it fits in the slow cooker, do the same steps only on low for like 10 hours. I used to do that with venison roasts when I was still working. I'd start one at 6 in the morning and by 7:30 at night it was so tender and good. You can add some cornstarch to the broth after removing the roast and veggies and make a nice gravy, too. This website is one that I trust and have made several recipes off of--this should give you a direction to start in. And another link from the same site that might be helpful Just remember you can't go wrong with low and slow and covered in tasty broth
