  1. I'm gone to get my SOH refurbished we'll expect you back bright and early monday morning.
  2. who. where.
  3. what does it matter what they're wearing? one would think it matters more where they had those hands, and if they are clean.
  4. i, too, am a musician and all. and Pearl Jam RULES!!!!!!
  5. OK, now see... I would totally suggest that. Heck, I'd outright say it. Pearl Jam is the musical equivalent of a really good guy at Burritoville as compared to Rossini who, in addition to being a cook of some repute himself, is more the musical equivalent of Thomas Keller. clearly a subjective opinion. just as with food and restaurants.
  6. click me if you dare...
  7. Ok...but nowhere do I see anything about this being a fine food and dining site; i wasn't suggesting that opera was "fine" and Pearl Jam was the music equivalent of junkfood. i was, however, suggesting that discussion of one wouldn't necessarily fit in with discussion on the other...just as i wouldn't spend a large percentage of my posts telling the world how much i like Big Macs. one must recognize and understand their audience.
  8. you're right. it wasn't a very good analogy. however, perhaps my 11000+ posts are more telling about my "perspective." and you still haven't pointed out any examples of someone telling someone that they shouldn't post on a topic. btw, people who post about the artistic genius of *nsync on music boards are ripped apart. that's just the way it goes.
  9. rdaily and eat eat eat made this claim long before that post. and, it would seem that slkinsey is suggesting that it wouldn't be unheard of. but i don't think he was suggesting that people should or shouldn't post. i wouldn't go to board on Opera and post about how much i like Pearl Jam. seems like a reasonable analogy. matthew, it's not obvious to me and at least one other poster, or else i wouldn't have asked. i have better things to do believe it or not. is it too much to have people support their claims with facts or examples?
  10. i'm still looking for examples of where someone suggested anything like this.
  11. the site is what it is. some feel comfortable, some don't. some take things personally, others don't. certainly the site is very dynamic, and even though one may not feel comfortable talking about how much they love Kendall Jackson chardonnay on the wine board, they might certainly feel comfortable posting on something like the Dinner thread, regardless of what they prepared for dinner. dynamic indeed.
  12. i'd be happy to bring non-food stuffs. the thought of preparing food for this group is daunting indeed.
  13. elyse was officially sold out of pecan pies by 3 pm today. just minutes before i arrived. and the bastard who bought the last one was still there, with the pie. but, i picked up 2 cookies. i should have picked up more, as the only thing left of them by the time i got home were the crumbs on my front seat and shirt.
  14. i think the funny part was the "which is better" bit. again, if it has to be explained, it might be time to move on.
  15. comments like that, i think, are just completely inappropriate. i agree with bux's assessment.
  16. oh really?
  17. jackie, that's 2 posts and 2 negative comments on restaurants!
  18. are you there today?
  19. gus, if you're talking about larb in the regular salad sense, ground rice adds texture. a wonderful texture indeed.
  20. but that's the thing. it's not above average for me, for example. it's way below average. and that's the crux.
  21. don't set your goals *too* high.
  22. welcome to egullet, nathan! thanks for sharing your larb story. as far as temperature, i usually serve it just a bit warmer than room temperature. not much warmer though.
  23. i'd like to think that's the case. but it's an unlikely explanation.

    Summer Chicken

    larb.
  25. don't they realize that publishing nonsense like that discredits the entire poll, if not the magazine? dangerous waters i'd say.
