  1. i'm gunna have to go ahead and sorta, disagree with you. i love the new BK fries. they're always crispy and have lots of flavor. not sure what the flavor is, but they got lots of it. McD's are more often than not soggy. i'll take crisp over soggy any day. wet is good on a sandwich, but not in a fry. does McD's really not cook their patties at the store anymore? do they just heat them in a microwave or something? this might call for a new thread. it's an outrage.
  2. agreed. it's my sandwich of choice lately at BK. however, McDonald's is fighting back with their double quarter pounder. not quite as good, though. but i never liked regular quarter pounders. although it's somehow not twice as horrible, but rather much better to some degree.
  3. The Hump is overrated. bah! quite a scene though, no? is that thai place still there? that's the first (and only) place that i ever had crickets. and ants too IIRC.
  4. i didn't catch that part. perhaps they were talking about some americans and not all, or even most, though.
  5. 14 for me. i didn't think i'd do so well on this test.

    Fantasy sandwich

#3 is a #2 without hot ham. #7 is turkey. jersey mike's is the benchmark to me. they started in Point Pleasant Beach in 1956. it was owner operated well into the 80's. he then (i think it was the same guy) opened another 1 or 2 in the surrounding area. he then franchised the place. i remember driving around whatever hiway it is that circles cincinnati and seeing one, much to my surprise. anyone in cincinnati should give it a shot.

    Wine Must Change

i still don't think wine is a drink that would be characterized as being "bitter". although the article doesn't actually say that. again, i'm not sure what it says. something about coffee or something.

    Fantasy sandwich

ham, provolone, hot ham, lettuce, onion, tomato, oregano/s/p. usually a "#2" in jersey sub shops. other than that, i quite like the vietnamese style of sandwich, on crusty french bread, with pate and grilled meat.
  9. another piece of carrot cake.
  10. i just had a piece of carrot cake and now i want another. is that so wrong?
  11. i'm with bux. but don't tell anyone i said that.
  12. yup! and that's why i pointed out that particular thread. now stop pissing me off by gettin all indignant and condescending.
  13. see 2) above.
  14. "yanks" jon? edit: errr, what jon said. the other jon i mean. forget it.
  15. i personally think last link is the most informative for those who still have no idea what the heck this thing is. since i read egullet every day, most of the day, and i fancy myself a relatively sharp fellow, i can't help but think that my lack of understanding is due to either 1) lack of cohesive and clear information being posted 2) i'm a complete dolt i'm looking forward to seeing this thing unfold. godspeed.
  16. vee have vays.
  17. i think i had one shrimp cocktail and perhaps 1 crab claw. maybe a piece of sushi. our wedding was basically a huge extended cocktail hour, as we realized that very few sit down wedding dinners are memorable food-wise. i do recall drinking champagne, wine, and bud most of the night, however. that's about all i remember. had some cake the next day at home with my best man and his girlfriend, as we were told it was very good and didn't get a chance to really eat any. wedding number 2, if it ever happens, will certainly be much cheaper. coming full circle to the White Castle thread, i'm thinking something along the lines of a few sacks and a cooler of beer. and no fucking tux.
  18. inspired by the White Castle thread.
  19. the link still exists from morrel. also, i think *any* first time customer gets the discount. if you started signing up, and odering, and then got distracted (like i did!), just continue with the ordering process. even though it doesn't immediately tell you that you have a 50 dollar credit, it should remember that you do. you'll see it when you get to the confirmation screen. believe me, i almost cried when i lost mine.

    Wine Must Change

i never allow myself to raked over the coals in matters of taste.
  21. i lied. i just wanted to include my birthday so someone says "happy birthday" to me on thursday. but trust me on the vampire slayer bit.

    White Castle

perhaps we could arrange some sort of time share. you could come live in NJ for a month and eat all of the white castles that you want, and i could live in paris and eat all of everything other than white castle that i want.
  23. zenial, that is some interesting insight and just a small example of how things aren't always as they appear on TV. i for one am looking forward to more of your thoughts on the show, and the restaurant. welcome to egullet.
  24. dude, the vampire slayers in my high school were all geeks and nerds. into D&D and shit like that.

    White Castle

yes. so the cooking method i suggested is for those, rather than the frozen-at-the-store version, which i've never had.
