    Farmed Salmon

My understanding that methods changed, but not everywhere. It is suggested that we research how the fish was raised before purchasing. 2 recent fairly informative articles: https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/green/reports/2019/05/13/469730/american-aquaculture/ https://www.fishwatch.gov/profiles/atlantic-salmon-farmed
  2. Going a step further the big chains here separate the Kosher products to their own dedicated bit of space. So the matzo mix, candles, and cookies all packed together. I prefer the ethnic separation because the general aisles are so so packed with product you can't find stuff that you know is right in front of you...
  3. I use the cans. Leftovr into a small zip bag pressed flat. Easy to break off chunks as needed. I do the same with leftover chipotle en adobo.
  4. I used to sling the cantaloupes on the vine with pantyhose parts. We get donations from retiring gardeners and they often use pantyhose to tie small stakes to plants. They do not break down and are gentle.I always imagine the guys waiting for wife to curse about a run in her stocking so they could zip over and squirrel the offending stocking away And yes they exist https://www.neimanmarcus.com/c/womens-clothing-clothing-lingerie-shapewear-hosiery-cat9860744?ecid=NMPN__XX&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI15nJ7YP55AIVsCCtBh2QMwDvEAAYAyAAEgJPX_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  5. it is actually quite amazing. I entered the Los Angeles Coliseum via the tunnel once. I think the most impressive part was looking up and seeing what the fans look down on. Kitchen space - I am good with tiny galley I could do a boat
  6. I spoke with several people in late 50's early 60's last week about where to retire. You give us grand inspiration.
  7. OK step back and look at how wine is shipped. Corrugated stuff or the cute wrapper you see on Aisian pears. Done ALL THE TIME. No need to reinvent the wheel. breathe. Worst case - tomato sauce - not funny I know.
  8. We have had the discussion. The term is wide and deep. When able I prefer to use M & P to grind,/pound. The cans work if using coconut milk - brings it together. One example. especialy if f you are using coconut milk wjoch mellows things out.
  9. I lost my favorite beef noodle place to gentrification. But the memory lingers on. Memories can cloud current taste.
  10. Oh! men are creatures of habit so the same good stuff works for them - sexist but I think true..They love you
  11. Oh Chum! working dogs are so awesome. So when you hear a bunch of giggles and chatter outside your door it is eGullet members crashing your party.

    Dinner 2019

Interesting. For some unknown reason I have done corn (which I love) with a curry paste. And I like green beans alongside. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Breakfast 2019

Well m'dear your "just a baguette" is what most of us consider over the top special. Your bread baking inspires me. As soon as I get my kitchen back (hopefully mid October) - the dough will be aging (cold ferment girl) and baked
  17. Oh my - my peeps are hyper honest. One of our old members did a blog about hr farm and her hubby published in a well known book book about farming. - I put it up but can not find/ This is their farm blog and older newsletters http://www.mariquita.com/news/news.html
  18. I sent your hunting pics to a former employee who landed in Wichita. He would love a hunting connection, He is from Michoacan, Mexico. So you globally inspire
  19. Oh my goodness - that oven is a work of art!
  20. In terms of produce I prefer to buy from local farmers. My farmers market peeps are honest. They will say "no pesticides - not organic certified" and you can ask them exactly how they manage their fields. The certification process can be excruciating and as noted above "organic" is a fluid term.. Fish similarly - know your supplier who also knows his provider. I know exactly where my fish come from and they will tell me openly the status and provenance. PS: went to school with the boys https://santamonicaseafood.com/

    Dinner 2019

Who knows (or cares) but my peeps from 1700s high German used it. No hard "a" as they do in the US. When folks toss around jam or jelly I still have to think what they mean to say.
  22. In my experience they do not keep so well. I would juice and freeze it in ice cube trays. Then whenever you need a jolt- pull one out for a dish. Alternatively you can do what many Asian countries do - gather a crowd and enjoy. Like a party featuring fruit - quite common.
  23. I caved to the raw peanuts in the bulk area of the Korean market. Small, skin on. I roast them but circumstances impede that for a few weeks They are currently in tupperware type container in a cool dark place. Freeze?
  24. Oh hell we have the thriving chain Veggie Grill here. All mock meat. Years ago I bought a cold prepared dish at 99 Ranch - i did not realize until later that it was Buddhist vegetarian - I thought it was a ham/spam product in there - but nope- t'was fake meat in 1994.... https://www.veggiegrill.com/
