  1. When I was in my 20s and 30s I didn't like it too noisy. Its worse now to my ear. I honestly think that they aspire to being noisy.
  2. he may have a point. But its a matter of degree, of course. I can't see value in a place where I have to shout to converse and strain to hear.
  3. It sucks, but yeah.
  4. I'd wait for the new anova oven

    DARTO pans

    That's a very shiny CSO!
  6. Not a whole lot different than steak Diane sauce( maybe a little sweeter). But since that's an American invention I renamed it for this thread... 😀
  7. Strip steak, brandy dijon sauce and roasted root veg
  8. Fels-naptha. A brick of toxic waste, basically. We always had that around the house too
  9. After reflection, most of what I cook (except the Italian stuff) would fit here.
  10. These sorts of things make the whole book suspect (and drive me crazy).
  11. Red wine braised short rib and veg
  12. Duck breast and potatoes dauphinoise (no cheese)
  13. 😀That was an old photo. I haven’t made this in ages. If I recall correctly I beat the hell out of two whole eggs with a tsp or so of water...s/p...sautéed mushrooms and peppers or sometimes onions...poured in a ramekin...topped with shredded cheese. Broiled for about 10-15 min. It rises a little and shells out with a big spoon when done. Sometimes I added arugula or roasted tomato. I need to test this recipe. I don’t trust that I remembered everything. Perhaps there was heavy cream too. Apologies if it doesn’t work.
  14. Why? It’s ok but not life changing.
  15. Mushroom and pepper "souffle"
  16. Neat idea! So you mean un-fussy, French-ish food? Have a better definition?

    Dinner 2020

    two (2) meatballs
  18. We have several day power outages frequently. A couple a year. Nobody dies, but where we are no power means no pump which means no water. No heat and no AC. The stove works though. Hurricane season and winter were a cause of dread. We finally got a big ass generator. Worth every penny

    Canned corned beef

Indeed. Canned CB lately is like cat food. I make my own too. From cuts cheaper than brisket.

    Canned corned beef

@Darienne what was in it? Onions and potatoes? I've made an "Irish stir fry" with CB, potato chunks and onions. Cooked loose, as opposed to a patty. Tossed at the end with a mixture of ketchup and sriracha enough to lightly glaze...cooked a little more. Not bad.

    Dinner 2020

The Sv bag isn’t a vacuum. It’s just had extra air sucked out so that the bag is completely in contact with the meat.
  22. @JoNorvelleWalker Halyomorpha halys is all over the place around here. Complete PITA.
  23. We are at the northern edge of crab territory. It’s a quick drive to DE and MD. When he was a youngun, our son loved doing battle with blue crabs. For me it’s a lot of effort for a morsel of (tasty) meat, but with a few friends and a lot of beer I can still be persuaded, though I eat more fries than crab. Old Bay on fries is a good thing Pro tip...keep fingers covered with crab boil out of your eyes
  24. That's no where near enough detail. Lol.
  25. I read this earlier. Five minutes ago it hit me that YOU CATERED YOUR OWN WEDDING.
