  1. FatGuy? I can feel your inner Sam Kinison on this subject! lol I must say Ive given the wrap bread itself numerous chances, and all the times Ive tried it, it always has that same bitterish chemically nasty aftertaste. What is that?
  2. Water Salad is a Japanese beverage from Coca Cola co. Japan. Heres a pic: http://www.photomann.com/japan/machines/dscn2083x.jpg
  3. Honestly? The best pizza sauce is 2-4 tablespoons tomato paste, olive oil, oregano and a little water...
  4. Me too! JList needs to get it to us. That and Water Salad!
  5. I would try half Splenda, half Erythritol. All Splenda makes for a weird flavor. Or Birch Sugar, Erythritol and splenda.

  7. I used a big jar of Claussens. I poured off about 1/3 cup of brine. I bought these http://www.kraftfoods.com/koolaid/2001/ka_...rs_singles.html And used 8 packets and closed it back up and shook it and let it steep for 3 weeks. I tried using a unsweetened lime Kool Aid pack and a cup of sugar in the second jar but it made the pickles shrink.

    Cheese-making

I gotta question? If my house has a damp basement and house molds, would it be not advised to attempt to make hard cheeses?

  17. Garlic and Onions and their Ilk all have antibiotic properties. RAW More so. Raw Garlic and Onions et al have a substance called ALLICIN, which kills bacteria. The more cell walls of the raw clove you crush, the more allicin you release. It takes a long time for garlic and onions to go rotten because they are so antibacterial. Chicken Soup got its name of "Jewish Penicillin" due to the head of garlic in it.
  18. When buying a new cookbook, which is acceptable: 1) No Pictures 2) No Pictures, but illustrated with drawings 3) Black and white photos 4) A few color photos 5) Fully illustrated with tons of color photos and demonstrations throughout.

  20. I have them all. The Culinaria America Book is quite thorough so for that reason I love them so much that I was hoping and praying for extensive Asian varieties to follow, then Koenemann went outta business. They NEED Japan, Korea, China (probably a Boxed set) Thailand, Philippines etc. And UK and that area, Oceania, Canada, Africa and South America...Oh and the area encompassing Norway, Sweden, Denmark etc... ONLY Culinaria can give us the type of Japanese cookbook I think people have been wanting... Which Japanese cookbooks that you know of have Combini food, Takoyaki, KareAge. Daifuku and even MENTION Pocky and KitKats... NO ONE. Which is why Im ecstatic that Ullmann bought Koenemann...
  21. My EX Sister In Law, invited me and my ex to a homecooked Spaghetti dinner. She presented us with two plates on which a pile of skettis were placed. On top of that, cold store brand sauce and about 1/2 cup cold cooked ground beef. She then handed us each lil trial packages of grated parm cheese... 3 weeks later I made my thousand layer lasagna (paper thin layers of homemade pasta, homemade sauce, 4 cheeses and sausage) and she never invited us again. But always wanted to eat here.
  22. I recently found out that Koenemann Publishers, the publishers of the popular Culinaria series, was bought by Ullmann Publishers and they seem to be putting out cookbooks etc again... Im still trying to obtain Culinaria: India, Culinaria: Britania and Eire. Ive found out theres a Culinaria: Russia... Heres the new website (in German) http://217.160.173.87/wvs/koenemann/view.p...baa7f679ff6b549

And lastly Stouffers ham and cheese crepes...
  24. But even a Big Mac and Velveeta Slices and even Hamburger Helper are full of comfort food merit. I think a Foodie is one who appreciates all things from Big Macs to Filet Mignon with Truffles.
