  1. That crawfish seems to like them. Maybe they would make good crawfish bait.
  2. This is going to be a good thread.
  3. I bought some Alubia Blanca in my last purchase. Boiled them with just onion and garlic. Reserved half for barbecued beans. For the other half, I sautéed onion and garlic in a little olive oil. Added beans, chopped parsley, rosemary, lemon juice and a little lemon zest with some salt and a more olive oil into the food processor. Served with crostini and veggies. Pretty good.
  4. Probably got into some raw vegetables. Fun story, thanks for sharing.
  5. Well, yeah. But definitely horse country.
  6. Sunny and warm here today. Exceptional weather for a horse race and associated activities. It's usually raining on the 1st weekend in May. I had not planned in advance, but if I find some mint I'll have to make a MJ. Mint gets very scarce this time of year. Woodford Reserve is about 20 minutes from my house. Toured it several times with visiting friends and relatives. Beautiful drive out there through horse country.
  7. I should start planning something. I turn 60 on May 5 this year. I may have to do the celebration on Saturday when I'll have time to cook. There's some horse race thingie here that weekend also.

    Dinner 2021

I've always heard it pronounced CRAW-pee. One of my favorite fish. And a lot of fun to catch if you get into a school of them. Shelby's look delicious.
  10. I put a little in my pasta water. Helps to keep it from boiling over.
  11. I found a picture of the stewed okra from last summer. Tomatoes and herbs are from my garden.
  12. Justin "I Gar AAANNN TEE" Wilson has a recipe for stewed okra. I make it several times every summer. Olive oil Diced onion Lots of garlic Really good, ripe Roma tomatoes Sliced okra I usually have some cayennes getting ripe about this time so plenty of those Chopped parsley I throw it all in a sauce pot and simmer until the okra is tender. Serve over rice.

    Breakfast 2021

Looks great, I make these when my kids are over. I put the sliced bananas on the griddle 1st then add the batter. Seems to work well either way, though.

    Superbowl 2021

I can't find the recipe I used last time, but I think it went something like this. Soy Brown sugar Garlic Ginger Gochujang Sesame oil Last time I made them, I just skewered them and grilled them over charcoal and they were pretty chewy. Shelby at some point mentioned that she puts them in a pressure cooker first then fries. I plan to pressure cook then grill.

    Superbowl 2021

I've been a KC Chiefs fan since the first time they won the Superbowl. A lot of lean years with a few good ones in between. Pretty cool to have a good team again. Normally, I would fire up the smoker and do a brisket with a bunch of sides. But with the virus, it's just me and my wife this year and there's no way we could eat that in a month. Add to that the fact that she doesn't like football. I think I'm doing apps. Deviled eggs, ABTs, maybe chile con queso. I did Korean grilled chicken gizzards one time that came out pretty good. I may try those again.
  19. My wife was out running errands this afternoon and stopped by Jason's Deli for a 1/2 of a muffuletta. Pretty tasty.
  20. I only tried once. It was a complete disaster. My wife requested a cheesecake made from the fake sugar in the yellow box. Splenda? The recipe called for a lot of it. It looked beautiful coming out of the oven. Nicely risen, slightly browned top. Looked like a really nice cheesecake. No one took more than one bite. It was so bitter, I'm not sure anyone swallowed their first bite. Shivers.
  21. I will never again buy a can of PAM without reading all of the label. It said PAM, I bought it. Then I made late-night chicken wings in the air fryer. I mix half cornstarch and half flour and season with a boat load of cayenne and some Lawry's salt. Arrange in the air fryer and spray with PAM, close it up and shut the lid. 10 seconds into it I'm asking myself where that weird vanilla scent is coming from. PAM baking spray with vanilla, WTF is that? And why does it need vanilla in it? Who doesn't add vanilla into their baked goods? After cooking, the wings were then tossed in a sauce of Frank's, El Yucateco Caribbean and coarsely ground black pepper. With enough El Yucateco, I think I killed the vanilla flavoring.
  22. I had never heard of Duke's until moving to KY about 10 years ago. Seems to be the favorite here. I can't tell much of a difference between Duke's and Hellman's to be honest. I usually get Hellman's because Duke's only seems to come in giant economy size.
  23. I use a little smokie. Pulled pork works well too. Yours look delicious.
  24. I've been using this for about 20 years https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/shakes-honey-brine.49739/ It could get a bit salty with an "enhanced" turkey.
