I said the Crest........ -
OH MY GOSH!!!! One of my dearest friends and her husband who used to be in the business have been eating at Basement Bistro since it started and are good friends with Damon. Don't know if the 2025 booking is accurate but I do know that the last time they wanted reservations for their anniversary 5 years ago they had to call almost a year in advance. She did said he did it all himself and the food was all locally sourced. Will have to talk to her and get her take on the article...

Heading to Atlantic City - Ideas for Where to Eat?

about 45 minutes south is a place called Exit 0 Cookhouse in West Cape May or Red Store in Cape May Point. Two new places that are quite good. You might be able to check out Cape May Honey Company or several of the wineries in the area. What ever you decide can't wait to hear your adventures.......and at least you will have a rental you won't have to retrieve if anything goes bad..... I'd suggest some places in Wildwood Crest but Saturdays can be a bit problematic ... especially in September when it is crowded. -

Sorry....I'm a librarian married to an engineer so we speak in acronyms...New Jersey Library Association. New Jersey Monthly in the last year have recommended the following places in AC: Gordon Ramsey Pub and Grill in Caesars Girasole Knife and Fork Inn any chance you have some time to head a bit outside of AC or are you on a tight schedule? -
Do you have any rice noodles? (Sorry - just re-read your post) Johnnybird seems to have developed a gluten intolerance and they have been a life saver for me. If you do he likes a cold noodle dish with some sautéed chicken and lightly cooked carrots, cabbage and mushrooms. I make a sauce with some vegetable broth, soy sauce, honey, grated ginger and a gluten free hoisin sauce I found. If you like spice you could add some of those Thai bird chilis when cooking the veg and some kimchi to the sauce. Another way would be to head to the Mediterranean with the sautéed chicken and a pesto, nice salad with the lettuce and mushrooms. For dessert I want a fresh dessert with some of those grapes, apples and shredded carrot with a dressing of vinegar(white balsamic if you have it), honey and a touch of water with infused lemongrass. You might add some of the lavender or mint but I don't care for them.

Husband coming home last Tuesday with BIL and SIL in tow for the Black Sabbath concert. Thinly sliced chicken breast alla pizziola, spinach and ground bison meatballs(gluten and lactose free), salad, both bucatini and a rice linguine. Ham and cheese and turkey sandwiches for after the concert on the drive home. Went to heat up some of the meatballs for John yesterday for dinner but SURPRISE!!!! None to be found anywhere. John then informed me that when they got back from the concert BIL AKA "The Cookie Monster" turned into an eating machine. Seems he went through about a dozen and a half of the meatballs and wiped out 2 half containers of ice cream. More bison thawing...now just need to get more spinach.

When NJLA convention was held in AC John and I would go to The Irish Pub as it was close to the venue. Brigantine is just north of AC BUT if you are a birder it is a place to check out. -
Elphaba is that you???????? love the tomato and pimento cheese but I want my figs with blue cheese and prosciutto and some balsamic glaze

Made two mini bison loaves with sautéed red peppers, onions and instead of the usual panko for the panade I used some of his gluten free bread I buzzed up in my mini chop. Added an egg, Worcestershire sauce and some vegetable broth. I sautéed some more red peppers and onion. Whisked together 3 eggs, a heaping teaspoon of pesto sauce and a few sundried tomato pieces in olive oil. Added the egg mixture to the pan, set about half the eggs then put into the oven with the baking loaves. After about 20 minutes the frittata was ready. Let it cool about 5 minutes then devoured half of it. Loved it!! Creamy, crusty on the edges and a bit tangy from the cheese in the pesto. Will have the rest with a salad and some bread for tomorrow's lunch. John had two slices of one of the bison loaves along with half a baked sweet potato, He's taking the other loaf, some roasted potatoes and two chicken sandwiches up to his sisters' when he leaves later.

STARVING this morning...not much to eat yesterday and good cool sleeping conditions revive my appetite. Made a small tuna salad yesterday night : individual package of light tuna in water, minced red onion, sweet relish, celery salt, mayo and a tiny bit of Marzetti's original slaw dressing. Nice and cold to just fork out of the container. Only ate half - the other half will get mixed into a handful of cooked elbows. OK that itch has been scratched for another 6 months or so.

Well, I guess most of us are aging out as this thread hasn't been touched in a while:

So John is supposedly due home about 7 pm. I have no idea if he has any food leftover that he went up with or bought. I don't care. It is almost at a human temperature around here so off to create something: rice noodles are soaking shrimp to saute squash - both yellow and green last of the snow peas to steam scallions to chop mix it all together with a sauce of some sort for dinner. In the meantime I need something to eat so I have chicken breast to shred and make into a chicken salad with some minced red onion, replumped dried cranberries, chopped pecans and some mayo along with a hint of celery salt then into a tortilla.

another HHH day here so at 5 am roasted two chicken breasts along with a mess of carrots, red potatoes and sweet potatoes to fit in with Johnnybirdhave to deal with 's new diet. I can reheat the veg or not.... make a potato salad...cut the meat off the bone and make a salad or sandwich,,,,I have yellow and green squash that I love to saute with some onion and garlic and some red leaf lettuce from a local farm to make a salad bowl.... I SO feel for those who have to deal with this kind of heat and humidity all the time....

OK when are you going to make it for me........ what caught my eye was the smile and wave because that is what my bil said to his grandmother at his sisters wedding......well actually it was "Wave to the crowds"
-
Stuff the figs with the cheese and drape with a thin slice of prosciutto then bake..... Lunch yesterday was an ice cold Dr. Pepper. I rarely if ever drink soda but I was craving that unique taste.
-
Lots of iced tea...at 9 pm cheddar bacon burger with a nice slice of Jersey tomato and some kettlecorn for dessert.
-
Iced iced tea, toasted English muffin with butter and toast dope. More iced iced tea.

Sure you wouldn't want to make a lovely duck breast ..... slowly cooked on the skin side until most of the fat is rendered then use the fat to saute some snow peas, scallions, garlic, carrots(you MUST have carrots), red peppers and thinly sliced mushrooms. I'd like some long grain and white rice with it. another possibility would be to poach the chicken breasts and thighs then shred them and make a mix with sautéed onion, garlic, peppers then a casserole or fajitas..... just thinking

Sometimes I will go back and re-read some of the early blogs by folks who dealt with different issues and how they dealt with them....inspiring words indeed.

Just was watching the news and they reported that Walmart will be selling those state fair food favorites for the next few months: http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/nation-now/2016/08/12/hostess-deep-fried-twinkies-treats-frozen-food-section/88606496/ OK someone from MN has to do a side by side comparison......
