JOHNNYBIRD is heading out for 2 days to learn how to teach rock climbing and needs fuel. For dinner tonight he has chicken cacciatore with gluten free pasta. Tomorrow, to share with any and all, a pork loin that was stuffed with garlic and sage, sautéed then braised in some vegetable stock with some thyme, onion, carrots and bay. I defatted the sauce and finished it with some butterbean honey. There are boiled potatoes to heat up and I threw some thawed green peas in with the carrots. Cheddar tidbits to munch on ... supposedly someone is bringing fruit and either pears or apples would go nicely with the cheese.

I actually wanted this for breakfast but was too busy running errands... 93% lean ground beef mixed with some Worcestershire cooked medium rare, lightly toasted squishy hamburger bun, mashed avocado and mayo, lettuces and some Cabot White Oak cheddar melted on the burger. 2 napkins as the lovely juices dribbled down to my wrist.

I do remember that and, believe it or not, my grandfather actually used to eat one "meal" over the whole day and saw nothing wrong with it. It was how he ate during the depression and during the war.......as long as you got some protein, vegetables and carbs spread out throughout the day he didn't care. Course we were hunters and gatherers and raised a garden. -
Me, too!!!! Although now all I have to do is go about a mile from home on Tuesdays or Thursdays to a place called Upstream Grille and the chef features New Orleans food on those days...Had some good gumbo there WITH okra.

We found this place last year at this time....shared a cone of fries among several other small plates and John really liked the beers.
-
DANG!!! Did you even have enough time between trips to do laundry? Have some of that Lebanon bologna this year.....

The second one looks very interesting but unfortunately I am one of that minority to whom too much cilantro makes my mouth taste like it was washed with soap. This looks like it may be just below that threshold and I adore pineapple and turmeric. Thanks!!

My great aunt got looped on Cold Duck(we bought it specifically for her) at my wedding reception. She got so happy that she sat on the lap of the Justice of the Peace who performed out ceremony....funny since at the time she was the Town Clerk who basically worked for him. We lost her not long afterward and the picture of her sitting on his lap laughing is one of my best memories ........which .including the picture of my grandfathers girlfriend talking with my mom who was holding the youngest guest - a 3 week old Clark. OK ...gottta get out of this forum.
