  6. sounds wonderful - as long as i can get there a little late (like after the hawks stop flying for the day). i have a pull-out couch if someone wants to crash instead of driving too far back oh... and for Rock, tommy and lou - you can alsways check out high heels on 15 south - they're almost done with the renovations and the kitchen is now open - or at least that's what their new sign says

  12. nope - repeat of NOLA which had me laughing as much as the first time. actually went on a bayou tour for our third anniversary and maybe the reason the alligators are said to taste like chicken is because the tour operators call the gators to the boats then feed them chicken....

    Dinner! 2003

friday night bangers and mash with onion gravy and steamed green beans saturday - bass with a mixture of chopped shallot, red and yellow peppers, minced garlic, green and nicoise olives, capers, evoo and from the garden fresh tarragon and flat leaf parsley wrapped in foil and baked in the oven(had planned to do on the grill but the lines of thunderstorms blowing through discouraged it) wild and brown rice zucchini fritters tonight i'm planning on buffalo burgers, german style potato salad and mexican slaw - as long as it doesn't thunder and lightning
  18. at lunch there was a promo on channel2 (nyc) for the cbs evening news doing something on this project tonight
  19. after a disasterous morning - who knew DMV had moved and the mall that has Fashion Bug in it(I was in the mood to buy clothes and spend the gift card my mother-in-law gave me for my birthday last august)had no power- I stopped in to American Grill a desperate woman. i didn't want to sit in the dining room - i just wanted to grab a magic hat and something to eat before i had to finish the 4 other errands i had on my list. lou was there sitting at the corner and- i find this totally amazing - he recognized me, even with newly shorn hair. the beer was cold the amuse was a wonderful blend of zucchini, olive oil and lovely chunks of parm. since i was cooking shrimp for dinner i just wanted something .... then i saw the words pear and blue cheese - works for me. over mixed field greens with pine nuts. and the vegetable strudel...i've had this before and it is one of the best things i have ever had. talking cheese with lou i mentioned that i love stinky cheese - bleu was my favorite since the time i was four - and he offered me a slice of a double cream blue that was so ...so....so.........close to orgasmic. thanks to lou, too, i found out where DMV had moved to and now am the possesor of a truly horrid nj photo id lisence. though i must say it wasn't as bad as my passport picture. thanks to all for helping my day get a bit brighter... i really felt wonderfully comfortable and the beer ain't bad either....though the choice of tv shows is a bit interesting. enjoyed it lou - thanks for the hospitality
  20. northern nj - depends on what pairs best with dinner. last night some pinot gris which i had used to deglaze the pan the pork chops had sauteed in. pizza, chinese, mexican - a good beer. i tend to drink seltzer, water or unsweetened iced tea before or after dinner.
  21. the days that both of us are home for dinner we definitly sit at the dining room table or outside on the new patio furniture. we ususally put classical music on the cd and there are no tv or phone calls allowed. it is so much nicer to be able to sit, talk and concentrate on the food.
  22. happy anniversary snowangel - john and i just celebrated 21 on 15 may down the shore if he lives through the backpacking trip he's on this weekend (it is pouring rain here - quelle suprize with flood warnings and he is up in the catskills of ny) we will try to head for another 20+
  23. date nights are tuesday, friday, saturday and sunday - we almost always eat at home; monday and thursday i work till 9 so leftovers; wednesday i work till 7 so leftovers again. we will eat dinner out maybe once every two or three weeks. if husband has been traveling for work and eating at all those chains that engineers seem to prefer - he would rather have a nice cooked meal at home. we were on vacation for 5 days recently - at at the motel 3 dinners, out for 2 - better than last year when i got to cook all 5 nights
  24. if anyone gets Consumer Reports - begining on page 18 of the July issue is an article called Best Meals/Best Deals - Chain Restaurants they were separated into categories - American Traditional,Italian, Mexican, Pub-style or Grill, Seafood, Steakhouse, Various and Family Restaurants several "favorites" on this and other threads appear including Cheesecake Factory, Legal Sea Foods, Red Lobster, Ruth's Chris, Chevy's Romano's Macaroni Grill and Olive Garden and P.
