@chefmd Thank you so much. A friend of mine was recently flying home and a passenger had a seizure. Luckily he told me there was a physician on the plane so they were able to stabilize the patient then were able to finish on to their destination while the patient was under medical supervision. Got the patient off with no problems....

so Friday I officially got my Medicare Part A card. A dear friend asked if I would be interested in visiting for the weekend and I said YES!!! Friday was the traditional dinner I have come to love - homemade thin crust pizza and salad. Oops, no lettuce! I brought some heirloom tomatoes up from here in NJ. A Purple Cherokee and Mortgage lifter went into a tomato salad with some shaved garlic, olives, red onion and roasted red peppers with some olive oil, salt and pepper. Since she cooks during the week while her husband works on the weekend she gets a break - luckily her husband in a former life was a cook/pastry and bread guy, all-around dogs body. He made us BLTs for lunch on Saturday, mid afternoon mocha espressos (hot for him and me; iced for her) then dinner was my request - grilled lamb chops and vegetables. I was allowed to sous for him (Oui, chef) and it was one of the best meals I have had in ages. Thank you Ed and Joyce for making me feel like a queen and helping to feel part of.... a family and something bigger than myself.

Imperial Nuts Honey Mustard Crunch Bar Mix - honey mustard mini bagel chips, honey mustard sourdough pretzel pieces, honey roasted peanuts and honey mustard sesame chips (which I was a greedy gus about and snarfed them up first).

Red gravy simmering away for later today. Used onion, peppers, ground beef, pork spareribs and Italian sausage with passata. I have some basil and parsley form the kitchen garden to add at the last minute. Gluten free pasta for John, bucatini for me. too bad John can't seem to find his way home in timely fashion...OOOPS

I adore your reports @liamsaunt. That was the one place my mom wanted to go to but she didn't make it. Took my mother-in-law #1 but she wasn't impressed. Party on with the niece, girl!!!!

pulled some chicken legs to get them out of the freezer. Roasting now with some salt and pepper. Will glaze with some Sweet Baby Ray's sauce. The good corn is starting to come in so have both bi-color and white, a mixed tomato salad to pop over some local red leaf lettuce...yellow watermelon for afters

Mr. Ron's coleslaw is available at most Acme's and now most Shoprites in NJ. It is a PA product I first was only able to find down the Shore at Acme. I find it so much better than I can do that it is my go to and I no longer make t from scratch.

It is a gloriously cool morning here!!!! There is a pan of scalloped potatoes in the oven right now and I'm two cups of decaf into the day.

woman/women I can only speak for myself but I adore all of the eG travels. I have learned so much and enjoyed places I can never go …. or have gotten suggestions of places to go( see Newfoundland). Funny I ran into a lady who had property in Manitoulin while in Newfoundland last year and she knew of Kerry. Ran into a couple last year in Newfoundland who came from the Oganganaka and when I mentioned some of the places I have learned of the were amazed I had ever heard of them.

HHH here. Small dollop of potato salad, small dollop of Mr. Ron's coleslaw from the store, small bowl of horseradish sweet pickle chips, small bowl of 3 bean salad and a sliced yellow mortgage lifter tomato.

Woke up starving. Toasted a piece of bread, minced red pepper, minced onion, some smoked ham and an egg. Voila - western sandwich....with Miracle Whip and ketchup. 😉

Thank you so much. I adore your trips to one of the best places on earth that you and a dear friend (whose family still live just north of Saint John's to this day} introduced me to. Maybe one day our path's may cross in the Irish Loop.....😘

OH, GREAT. Just got a text from John he is heading home in an hour or so. John NEVER heads home from trips before 7 or so ... now I have to figure out something to feed him ( I have been living off of salads, sandwiches, sautéed veg and pickled veg … none of which he likes to eat). Shrimp and pasta, pasta and shrimp. I figured I wouldn't have to do anything until tomorrow...…. Well, while finishing up the shrimp fried rice I was making I got a text that started... "To make a long story short...." Uh, no. You are Irish and are required to make a short story long and convoluted.... Shrimp fried rice in the fridge using Jet Tila's "gold on ivory" way of making it.

I SO want fish cakes with schrunchions …. and tartar sauce with Cholula chile lime. Reminds me of when I would visit my mom and she would make a "breakfast" of flounder, bacon, boiled potatoes and lima beans. 29 years and I miss her like crazy. Sorry...all

Oh heck yes!!! The only reason I make corned beef is to make hash!!!
