  1. I have never really liked white chocolate so these would be a hard sell for me. I'm more of a dark chocolate afficianato.
  2. How lovely to have another blog! How long will you be staying?
  3. Thanks, pretty sure I won't be buying this book- what a shame.
  4. Just have to say... I was talking to my sister recently about the last things we would give up and mine were my cookbooks!
  5. Joy of cooking- definitely my go to reference. A Cook's Tour of Rome for all things Italian and definitely Julia for all things French!

    Dinner 2016 (Part 9)

@ElainaA. Can you provide a link for the pie recipe? Many thanks!
  7. @naguere. Being half German, sauerkraut is one of my favorite things!

    Nespresso

... Of course, I find that anything is better than Starbucks!
  9. Yum! Coffee is one of my favorite things! Welcome!
  10. Welcome- I'm sure you have a lot to share and receive!
  11. Just to clarify- when I was in grad school during the '80s, I was absolutely addicted to M & Ms. When papers were due, I would brew a carafe of French Roast and throw a handful of M & M's in my mouth. I would drink the coffee and thoroughly enjoyed the drip of chocolate down my throat. I'm not sure it improved my papers but it sure elevated my mood!
  12. Can you post it here? ...and welcome!
  13. ... Yet, pickled green tomatoes would be a perfect fit! And I personally volunteer to judge the competition!
  14. Darn it! My two favorite things- coffee & chocolate. There is no hope...
  15. A few years ago, I bought Molly Steven's "All about Braising". It includes a recipe for those last of harvest long green beans. I never knew what to do with those since they seemed so tough. Well, I have to tell you that braising them in her tomato sauce flavored with anchovy ( which lends a lovely bass note) is the way to go! Fall isn't fall until I make at least one batch of them. They never make it to the plate- I eat them right out of the skillet!
  16. Market price is different than no price. I see market price on many menus, as you said, mainly referring to seafood. However, I have never seen a menu with no listed prices period.
  17. I once lived in a housing coop where we shared cooking duties in the well- equipped industrial kitchen. We quickly learned which cooks were better than others. One guy was absolutely infatuated with garbanzo beans and we had them in every possible permutation during his rotation. Garbanzo loaf, garbanzo soup, garbanzo salad, garbanzo casserole... it it was decades before I could look at one without feeling queasy and even today, 40 years later, cannot eat them whole.
  18. Like you, I used to think I hated all things bean as well. Then I realized that it was simply because they had been so poorly prepared at home. Now, I love red lentil with lemon soup, Senate navy bean soup and a lovely chile recipe that has become my go to. I think this came about because I found the flavor profile that I prefer and then found the recipes that fit it.

    Oreo Cookies

It makes my teeth hurt just to read this thread! Seriously, if I wanted to eat that much sugar, I'll just take a spoon to my sugar bowl! Ouch!
