  1. I thought that too. I mean here you are going to be so critical of her when you messed up rice for crying out loud! Right now this far into the show I am surprized they are not completing services, yet. So far it looks to me like Dave will take the show, if he don't quit hurting his wrist, but judging from the preview scenes from next week that does not look like it will be the case. But I tell ya' what, there is something to be said when things are so bad Ramsey is just walking around the kitchen muttering.
  2. I am saddened by the news. I only had my subscription this one year, but use to purchase it on the news stand full price when the issue looked interesting. I think this is a loss for the culinary world.
  3. Honeycrisp apples. Now that they are in season I am eating myself sick in them everyday. Donuts, all kinds, I cannot keep my hands off them and really good scones, right out of the oven and I am done for!
  4. Good Morning! I am out shopping today. So will be taking with me pistacho apple pie from teavana.
  5. NO, this stuff is not good tea. But I am back home now and I am hitting the teavana gingerbread spice. *this* is good tea!
  6. I am almost embarrassed to admit, I am drinking some pumpkin spice from adiago that I ordered a long time back. I am trying to use it up, it was too late to return it when I decided to crack it open and discovered it doesn't taste like pumpkin spice. I bought 8 oz. of that and the gingerbread spice and they both taste the same! But I don't want it to go to waste...so bad tea for me today
  7. Would you please tell me where you got the cup? Is the cup microwavable? The cup is not microwavable--as I mentioned before, I use hot water out of a botted water dispenser. I bought the cup at Red Blossom Teaon Grant Ave. in San Francisco's Chinatown (a wonderful place to buy & taste teas, BTW). You can buy an infuser cup onlinefrom Red Blossom. I like the kind with a lid, as you can use it as a coaster for the infuser part while you're drinking. Very nice! I am going to have to order one!
  8. I heard the story today also thought it was well done. I giggled half the day at the thought of well dressed men, in properly laundered oxford shirts carrying huge spitoons.

    Good Autumn Food

pumpkin....anything pumpkin!! slow cooking stews This is my favorite time of the year foodwise!
  11. I have big problems with this. I would love to drink more teas at work, but have not found a good way to do it. We are not allowed any sort of electrical heating device at our desk, so all my fancy water brewing stuff cannot be used. When I do drink tea it is usually a bag, with water heated in the microwave in the break room. I would love to have time in the afternoon to enjoy my loose teas, that would make a welcome break. I have a double walled cup from Republic of Tea that you can press down the plunger and it pushing the loose leafs to the bottem of the cup. The problem with that is that the leafs say seeping the bottem of the cup and can get quite bitter. But it is better than nothing at all. I long for the day they invent a cup, microwavable, that opens from the top after you heat the water, can put the leaves in, steep, and let it drain to an attached cup that the top then screws off leaving you with a cup of perfectly brewed tea. If an instant read thermometer was on the side to get the correct tempurture, I wouldn't complain.
  12. Am I understanding you correctly in that they are going to try to air the show again?
  13. OMG..that is so funny! But absolutely correct. I agree, suzanne is just sliding by in this on the skin of her teeth. I don't think things are going to get better moving her the men's team. The women would have gotten rid of her sooner if they had come up with another arguement other than "she is not a team player", and really attacked her skills. I usually see a clear front runner, but at this point I don't see who will win.
  14. You know your an egulletier when.... I actually "pimped" my husband out to work part time at william sonoma so we can by discounted kitchen gadgets. edit to add: I may talk him into going back to work part time again this holiday season, and he ain't complaining about it...
  15. At this point I am rooting for Dave to take it, he really has hung in there. But I am ready for PTSD guy to go, he is getting on my nerves. We will see who goes home tonight... (here in about 15 minutes)
  16. I too was hoping Micheal would go home. But I have to admit that pasta salad with the sun dried tomatoes was everyday food in my house, not TC quality.
  17. I don't think it matters, really. I think it is just a poly to make wine seem more posh.
  18. For me its making a long slow bolognese. The longer I simmer the happier I am. On any given Sunday in my house you will find a pot on the stove with bolognese or marinara simmering for at least 5-8 hours. Hand making ravioli comes a close second. But nothing is a total bliss out than pick 6-10 different baking projects and just spending the whole day with the music cranked and baking till I drop.
  19. The link here no longer works, does anyone have directions? This would be a perfect gift for a friend of mine! I have been thinking I was too early to think of Christmas, but I guess not. I want to send people "a party in a box" but I like the martini picks, cheese straws, maybe some home marinaded olives, lemoncello, I don't know what else though...
  20. I found a chilean merlot that actually had a nice peppery finish to it.. Central valley frontera, 2007
  21. I agree, if after all this experience being on the show you have not gotten a clue on how it works, you don't need to be there. I do think Andy is next on the list to leave. Right now I am rooting for the guy with the broken wrist to take it. If he can keep up with a broken wrist, he deserves it.
  22. Ok, this is month number what? 10? roast chicken and chocolate, topped off with cheesecake. edit to add because of stupid computer: ever get tired of cravings? I am ready to start craving something different.
  23. I don't know if this has been mentioned, but "The Silver Spoon" is my go to book for italian. Deserts by the Yard, by Sherry Yard for desserts.
  24. I just watched my recording of the show and wow, I was surprised by Chiarello. I thought up until now he came across as a nice guy. But say what you will about his attitude, the man can cook. (I think) I was sad to see Anita Lo go. Bayless came across as a true southern gentlemen and Keller is just a pro. Right now I am on the fence for who am rooting for to win.
  25. I am sorry to hear about this. I have had this happen beforre and it is disheartening when it does happen. I would have tore that up!
