  1. lutefisk, white truffle oil, stinky tofu... I watch too much Andrew Zimmerman....can you tell?
  2. Help! I am hoping someone has an answer for me. I have a 4 1/2 qt. classic KA the tilt back top, the bowl screws on to the bottom. What I have noticed in the last couple weeks is that the top head "jerks" from side to side when trying to do ANY type of dough. When I take the bowl and dough off the mixer, and just let the pattle run with out it mixing anything it does not do this. When I put the empty bowl in place, with the pattle attachment on what I noticed was the the pattle was hitting the "lump" that is in the center bottom of the bowl causing the mixer to jerk and click very loudly. It did the same thing with the dough hook. It never did this before even with the most heavy duty mixing jobs. Before I fork over the cash for repairs I was wondering if anyone would have a clue as to what caused this and how I might be able to fix it?
  3. Thank you aloha and cm, now if they stay in stock until the ole' payday comes... WOOOOOHOOOOOO!
  4. I still have a Sunset Chinese Cook Book in my collection, 1979. And a Sunset Oriental Cook Book, 1970. Ok, I must be mistaken about the name of the book. I just know that after I got a life long love affair with chinese cooking ensued. I was 16 at the time and spent that whole summer cooking from it.
  5. So amazon france will ship to the US? I just wanted to clairify because I see it is in stock right now....
  6. Thank you so much for all your ideas! These are wonderful ideas, I am beginning to think I may end up making this stuff and keeping a batch for myself!
  7. Thank you, Thank you! I saw your post and even went out to your wonderful website. (that was yours with all the neat pix's of hot cocoa?) All these look so good they may end up in my cup! Once again, thank you! PS - I wasn't sure about hot chocolate, wasn't sure how it would keep if people decide not to use it for a while...
  8. I was thinking it would be kind of fun for holiday gifts for the office to make some gift baskets with different flavors of hot cocoa w/ homemade marshmellows. The only problem is that I cannot find a reliable recipe for hot cocoa mixes on the web with out trying a hundred different recipes. And there is not alot of flavored recipes out there. I was wondering, does anyone have a good hot cocoa mix recipe, and if I wanted to make different flavorsof the recipe (for example, peppermint, amaretto) how would I do that? Thanks!
  9. I do this, mostly because I love to cook, but hate to clean. Top that off with the fact I cannot stand the noice my current dishwasher makes, I wait until it becomes a have to most of the time.
  10. I hate to say this in a thread about gravy, but I hate gravy. Always have. Living in the south most my life where there is such a fuss made over biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak, and stuff like that I could never get myself to eat it. So I have to admire those that not only can make it, but like it.
  11. schmeeze - a combining of the words - it's a mystery if it's cheese - the stuff you get on most american grocery store shelfs. this can also be applied to meat as in 'schmeeat'
  12. OHHHHHH!! I cannot wait to see the chef list!
  13. Let's see if I can get this post right I too cannot imagine Kevin sabatoging anyone's dish, he just don't seem like the type to me. I think the judges realized that Jen was just having a hard time or she was still sick, maybe they took under consideration her past sucess? But I do think she "dodged a bullet" I thought some of the arguing that went on in the other kitchen was just uncalled for. I mean, did that guy (I cannot remember his name, but he was one of the V brothers)go after Robin like that? It was her dish and ultimately she would go down for it.
  14. Boy, all these take me back some time. I remember the first cookbook I ever had. It came from a garage sale and it was a Sunset Cooking School Chinese Cooking. To this day I have a fetish for chinese food cookbooks, and cooking chinese food. The very first expensive cookbook I ever owned was Hazeltons "Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking" I swear, I thought I lost it when I moved last and was crying when I could not find it. My husband didn't understand the attachment. Next I would have to say "The Bread Baker's Apprentice" for the knowlege.
  15. As I read threw this thread, I realized I am guilty of almost all these at one point or another. My worse one now is not cleaning the oven. I don't think I ever had, I had apartments and was moving before I ever did it. Now that I own my house I still don't. And I have a self cleaning oven. Waste. Period. We throw out so much veggies that were bought and never cooked, made way too much rice so half goes out. Leftovers never ate. It's crazy. There needs to be a 12 step group for this....
  16. Poor Ash, I didn't think he deserved to go. I thought there was a lot worse dishes. If anything makes anyone think of cat food, that should be an automatic out. I think for all the crap Robin is recieving she sure is hanging in there. I am surprised she made it this far cooking wise. I think they are keeping Micheal around for the show factor.
  17. I finlly got to watch my recording of it. Yea Dave!!! He so deserved it! Man, Robert was nothing but a whiner and poor loser. Amanda was suppose to be the fish person in the group? WTF? I think Kevin gave a heck of a fight, though. I hear they are casting next season...
  18. [quote name='KristiB50' date='09 October 2009 - 10:19 AM' timestamp='1255105187' post='1703960' And Padma needs to burn that green jumpsuit.
  19. It's early in the morning for me here...that made my head hurt. On another note, I was glad to see suzanne go!! yea!! Poor Dave. If he can get this far with one hand, then he should take it, seriously. In that much pain and still busting it out, yeah, he needs to win.
  20. Good evening! Today it was Stash's double spice chai at work. Now that I am at home I am thinking Vanilla Bourbon Rooibos, republic of tea.
  21. I went shopping this evening, and discovered a new teavana store in my local mall. Would have just walked by if not for this discussion. Lots of different teas, but not clear what grade of which ones. Are the teas you're discussing here herbal or flavored black or green teas? tThey are the flavored Rooibos, and flavored green. And they are delish, taste like they smell and you typically get two good steeps out of the leaves.
  22. Oh and another one, candy corn and those darn Brocks mellowcreme pumpkins. I will eat bags of them from now until holloween.
