  1. It was Independent we found them at - Winkels in Sudbury. I've seen them a few times at home - but not paid much attention because they are expensive. Kira liked them, Anna thought homemade would be better.
  2. The rest @EvergreenDan - any thoughts?
  3. Didn't find them at Costco - really bought them for the bottles. Making your own is better.
  4. We were asking for lunch suggestions at the nursing home today - and the mother of one of the girls who works reception mentioned that the band office was having a fish fry. I'd had really good food there before - so over we went! We didn't realize it was going to be free! Felt a little guilty. This lovely fellow was waiting for us when we came out. This is what was left of the bread at 3:30.
  5. If they were good enough for yesterday they’re good enough for today. I turn down the temperature by 50° and still gave them 14 minutes.
  6. More like weed and plant control!
  7. When I left the house this morning I had forgotten I was in the middle of bread dough. Anna noticed it trying to crawl out of the thermomix and onto the counter - so corralled it and put it in the fridge. It was straining it's constraints there too. So this evening I put it into a couple of larger bread pans - gave it the sesame treatment and baked it a bit. It did the remarkable cracking noise as it cooled. Happened to notice the sky outside and grabbed a quick shot.
  8. Anna keeps reminding me that I'm forgetting to post stuff. So we are back in Tuesday now - in Gore Bay visiting with Lisabeth. This is the view out of Lisabeth's window - so she can make her bean to bar chocolate and other goodies while watching deer and her FIL farming! I took down to Gore Bay the bars that Johnny Iuzzini had given me when I was in NYC, so we could taste them. I brought back part of them and Anna and I did a little more tasting on Tuesday evening. It's interesting how different people can get different flavors from the same bean. There were a couple of favorites in there - but overall an excellent lineup - not one that I wouldn't enjoy again. There was also a Stratus bar that David from Soma gave me - it's production somehow involves the lees of one of the Stratus winery's wines. We contrasted that with a bar that Lisabeth had made using Columbian beans and Rosewood Estate Winery's Mead Royale. She had noticed honey notes in the bean and wanted to play that up. It works! Wish they'd been making that mead back when I was making thousands of truffles for the 'In the Valley' event - it would have made a fabulous truffle.
  9. Nah - wouldn't be in the spirit of the challenge! I should post a pic of the stuff we have and see what input we can get to use the almost empty bottles.
  10. Indeed - and the campari is dangerously low too. We are not replenishing. It's killing me.
  11. Just because you can do something - doesn't mean you should do something! They are tasty little buggers - they have a gianduja heart - but they don't fit in packaging. And they did indeed test the limits of my ingenuity to get the little bastards dipped and re dipped! Here's my 'production facility'
  12. Oops - should read to the end before posting - I'm a little behind today - have spent several hours working on updating my Nexus status, and making reservations for trips to Dallas and Paris. Still have the Seattle trip to sort.
  13. Dinner of steak, lamb and peas - not seen - mint sauce and horseradish
  14. Bacon, cheese and tomato with a bit of - horrors - Helmans - oh yeah and a few of those Onion Petals
  15. @tikidoc‘s cream scones - always a hit
  16. Have you had a look through here to see if you can find the answer?
  17. Can't say as I have. Interesting idea - you could go from Nocino to vin de noix with one batch of nuts. Welcome Melde_Made by the way!
  18. Since the pills caused such a fuss - I'm a little hesitant to post my not matcha Matcha Pistachio Truffles. I hesitate to offend the matcha lovers! I have had one matcha I liked in my life - it had rhino in the name - beyond that I remember nothing except that it was carried by Metropolitan Tea. Since I'm thrifty and not really into matcha - I powdered some lovely floral green tea that had been brought for me from Taiwan and used that instead. Didn't give the brilliant color of the matcha version - but tasted a whole lot better.
