I just made a fabulous noodle pudding 2 weeks ago. I wrote about it in my blog, its not too sweet( but you could add more sugar), and its so rich and creamy. The recipe came from a reader of everyday food magazine. PM me if you'd like it.

We went to a BBQ on Saturday and the host grilled chicken. I brought "All American Potato salad" from Cook's illustrated. A watermelon, feta, mint salad. A carmelized onion/spinach dip based on Barefoot contessa's onion dip and a vanilla cake with a mascarpone whipped icing. We also grilled mushrooms and ramps that we picked that day. Yesterday I made chicken satay, coconut rice and asian slaw. I'm too embarrased to tell you what I made tonight. Its cold and nasty here, ick..... I MISS CALIFORNIA!!!!

I stumbled upon this thread last week and decided to make it too. I used the "cooking light" recipe. However, I dont see it as being really light. I think its only light because of the serving size. I made it in a jelly roll pan and supposedly that serves 20. I added more pecans too. If I made it again, I'd cut back on the sugar. I thought it was way too sweet. Other than that, it had a good flavor.

I love roasted veggies but I wont roast zuccini again with other veggies. I love juliening( sp?) veggies and tossing with pasta, evoo and parm. Oh and those oven fries i did last week were so good. I'll be using that trick from now on, blanch first, then roast.

times like this really make me miss living in California. I wonder if I can even find the ingredients here. Maybe I need to make a trip to Michigan. I'm off to go look at the few bags of chili's I brought back on my last trip to Cali. Do we have a recipe we're working from?

Can you guess what I had for lunch? If you guessed a sandwich, you'd be right. LOL. No salt/No fat turkey on toasted wheat with light mayo, mustard, provolone and lettuce. Dr. Diet pepper on the side. -

Alex, I bought the butter ruler at that cookbook store( name escapes me now as I ran in and out of there to take pictures). The mill is open on Sunday from noon-5pm. Are you coming to Ontario? ← Yes -- we'll be on our annual Memorial Day Stratford Festival weekend pilgrimage May 27-29. This year, we'll arrive on Friday just in time for lunch and a matinee of As You Like It. Dinner will be at Sapori Pasta House. Saturday will see breakfast probably at Tango, shopping (including, of course, Cooking Up a Storm), lunch somewhere (maybe Bijou or The Belfry), a matinee of Into the Woods, more shopping, and dinner again at Sapori. Sunday is unscheduled, so if the mill is more or less on the way back home to MI it might be fun to stop there. Where exactly is it located? Maybe you and Robin could join us for a meal -- I'll PM. ← The mill is located in Arva. Arva is about 5 min from N. London. If you drive back to GR thru Port Huron, you can go to Arva, then come back thru Exeter and Grand Bend and take 21 to the 402 to Sarnia. Does that make sense? -

Thanks Michelle, I wish there were 10,000 people here in Exeter( although, that would probably be a bit crowded). The population of Exeter is 4,400. The nearest largest city is London with a population of about 300,000. Looking forward to your blog!! -
If you dont want to do a lasagna, you could fancy it up a bit and do a stuffed shell( stuff with spinach, ricotta) and a fire roasted tomato sauce. I've done a fantastic spinach lasagna that has a bechemel sauce. I've added seafood a few times and it was fabulous. It froze well too.

Looks fantastic. I wonder if I can make it with zero spice. I have such a low heat tolerance.

Good morning everyone, Well, my time writing in this foodblog is coming to a close. It's been quite an experience. Writing this week has made me appreciate the food blogs even more. I had a lot of time to write and I couldnt even imagine writing while working full-time and/or preparing a humongous passover feast. Breakfast this morning: I also had a glass of skim milk and some fresh blackberries. Tonights dinner will be rather boring. Santa Fe Turkey burgers from Whole Foods, asparagus and baked idaho potatoes. I needed something easy because Im joining Robin tonight at the gym. -

A huge pet peeve of mine. The way the butter is packaged in Onatrio. You can get sticks, but they are 2 bucks more expensive. Usually, when I get this home, I cut it into 4 half cups. There are markings on the butter for 2 1/2 cup portions and then a 1 cup portion. I kinda wing the other 2 half cups. Its hard when I want a tbls or two. I was so thrilled when I found this the other day in Stratford. I want to photocopy it and laminate it and give it to everyone I know. -

Date square, peanut butter, maple fruit(surprisingly very good), rasberry square, white almond drop and coconut cookie. All the bars were 45 cents each. Robin munching on her wings the other night. edited because i added the wrong picture. -

The big grocery store has a lot of organic products. I havent seen much free-range stuff in the grocery stores, but I wonder if the chicken farmers around here do that. I'll have to check that out. -

I kept meaning to talk about this too. This is one of my favorite comfort foods. My mom used to serve it to us growing up. I call it noodles and cheese, but the cheese in this is cottage cheese. It always consists of egg noodles. I use no yolks, MI cottage cheese and a dash of light sour cream. Salt and pepper. I cool the noodles off with cold water, then let them drain in the colander. I mix up the cheese/sourcream and mix it with the noodles. Yummy. Robin doesnt like it. Id eat this on a night Robin wanted wings(frozen) My sister( in Florida) gave me a load of blintzes to bring home. I stuffed them in Robin's carry on with ice packs. I havent had any yet, I kept meaning to for the blog, but there was so much food and so little time. -

Something I dont want to forget to talk about. Good thing we dont get QVC in Canada. I turned on the tv when we were in Florida and they were showing these as a today's special value. You can find them here. They work fantastic. I cant recommend them enough. I hate throwing out produce, and I havent had to in over a week. My italian parsley and arugula and salad mix still look and taste great.
