  1. hmmm I havent tried #12 on our takeout menu...I really used to hate when my husband ordered by number those girls speak english! but I got used to it... My ex boyfriend once ate his chicken fingers with his plate on his LAP in a lobster restaurant in Maine because we were spraying goop all over the place. How do eat a steamed lobster without spraying???? tracey
  2. My husband the refridgeration mechanic said its just fine. tracey
  3. What about the legions of single men out there who may or may not admit to cutting up a package of hot dogs into a pot with a can of baked beans and eating while watching TV ...out of the pot. I am very close to someone who did admit to this
  4. You must try again......melt tsp of butter in big plastic bowl - swish it up the sides - fill bowl halfway up with marshmallows and nuke while standing there watching... its low fat and cleans up super easy....if it doesnt explode tracey
  5. The closest my grandmothers family got to "the south" was southern Italy...She made chicken soup with dumpling that the family just called the Things or the Balls. For a big pot of soup the balls called for 2 eggs lots of pepper big handfull of inexpensive parm or romano or blended cheese enough flour to make a stiff dough This was dropped by "tip of the teaspoon" sized balls into boiling soup, when they float they are just about done. Once all my aunt and I had to do was drop them into the pot...we couldnt rember if they got bigger or smaller...we remembered things shrink when you wash them in hot water.... these suckers were HUGE. so that is Italian chicken and dumpling soup by Anita tracey
  6. Oh heck, they served us roasted turkey last time we went It was good tracey
  7. Add this factoid... my mother is having house guests this week from Chicago... my first thought, can they bring some hot dogs and sausages??? please tracey just had an Amazing Hot Dog with creamy cole slaw, chile and diced jalepenos....Mmmmmmmmmm
  8. Hi my name is tracey and I like hotdogs.... I am planning to head to Amazing Hot Dog later today. We must like hot dogs in general or there wouldnt be so many variations on the theme....I mean turkey dogs, chicken dogs, Tofu Pups While Icelanders enjoy a lamb dog with an onion sauce very similar to Sabrett's sauce, had a couple on vacation ...not half bad. After moving on from the childhood Oscar Meyer to my current preference of Best's deep fried of course....char grilled is nice too, but often the moment after it looks perfectly done it looks perfectly shrivled. Kind of like scrambled eggs..if they look done in the pan they are overdone And yes Jack...we do ignore whats in there and try to think of BSE as a European problem. oh I just remembered when my daughter wouldnt eat them for a while in 2nd grade...the teacher told them they were nasty T
  9. Christine how about... Roast beef with Asiago, Roasted Peppers and Pesto Grilled veg with Smoked Mozz and Roasted Onion dressing on Focaccia Smoked Turkey, Brie, Apples, and Honey Mustard on Multigrain Baguett Black Forest Ham with Havarti and Cranberry Mustard Grilled Salmon, Cucumber, Red Pepper strips and Dill dressing in a wrap Crab salad - Swiss Melt too bad I dont do this for a living anymore "Lucille from Taylor says Hi" tracey
  10. All I really know about the subject is anecdotal...I used to have a client that asked for a sample of the soup every time he came in...couldnt have a whole one. But I found a book... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-h...0015274-2313413 Tracey
  11. Would you believe I dated a nice Jewish boy from Blauvelt NY....wonder if he liked Chinese food tracey
  12. This recipe looks like what I used at work many moons ago but I think it took a lot longer we used a double bottomed pot (with an airspace) and stacked 3 of the burner grids to keep the flame farther away from the pot...no wonder it took forever but I never burned one. The only addition my boss had in there was a box of vanilla pudding mix added with the eggs off heat. tracey have you ever seen what happens when you drop a deep half-pan of rice pudding straight down.....its tough to get off ceiling tiles
  13. Maybe a 1 inch thick piece of the foam board cut to fit the cake box and then mark the bottom of the muffin pan with....butter or icing or something and press it on to leave an impression of the bottom. Then you can cut out the circles.....you could use it for a template and make plenty. tracey

    Tomato Puree

Progresso tomato puree.....ingrediants: tomato puree and citric acid crushed tomatoes are often labeled as being "in thick puree" is this something else I wont be able to find if I move out of NJ ??? tracey
  15. If he really wants to play on the hot dog on a stick theme...how about good kebobs....you could actually get very silly with that...from normal beef satay, chicken satay, sausages, shrimp, vegetables, etc all the way to tortellini and veg dressed like a pasta salad and fruit and brownie skewers. Tortellini on a skewer with pesto dip is quite tasty tracey cupcakes baked in orange peels anyone?
  16. Daniel take the train..its across the street from the Ridgewood station... then you can partake of all the adult beverage you care for I miss living near there for the opportunity to train into the city to have adult beverages tracey
  17. I spent 8 yrs at an upscale takeout- catering- gourmet gift shop...beautiful store, concept, and execution. Our very first catering order was some salads and poached lobster etc for 2. The client dropped off 2 dinner plates and requested the food delivered at 11:30am. The chef couldnt wrap her brain around the fact that the client couldnt even plate the food herself.( maybe she could have put it on a plate but not like it turned out) We actually encouraged the nice young ladies who had married well to hide the takeout containers and knew most of them would. Bringing a baking dish to the caterer isn't a bad idea anyway...better than putting a foil pan on the table. and someone once told me that if you slip a Mrs. Jones fozen pie into your pie dish and defrost it before baking it will conform to you dish tracey cant afford most take out anyway
  18. I used to work for Kevin Opici currently at Kevin's Thyme in HoHoKus bergen county.....201 445 6400 Formerly the chef at Above the Salt in Franklin Lakes I personally think his food is great and he has party planning people available also tracey
  19. Ya beat me to the Taylor Ham...I am weening myself off the stuff since we are considering moving out of the area. Also the "hard roll" aka Kaiser Roll they serve the Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on We also have a crazy hot dog shop in NJ serving a bacon egg and cheese HOTDOG its good too and of course the Italian hotdog is a Jersey thing too tracey
  20. Hot Dogs...git yer hot dogs before I eat em all, that is, oh and pie but more on that later We joined a multitude of Egulleters and the general public for the first day of feasting. It was crazy in there from 12:15 till at least 2 pm. My daughter and I shared a Nacho Dog ( gaucamole, salsa, and sour cream)and French Fries and my own was the Caped Crusader( chile, coleslaw, jalepenos) and hers was the BLT (wrapped in bacon with Let, Tom, and mayo). After all that I convinced Curlz to show me where Meema's new Bakery was in Montclair. And on we went to taste a German chocolate cake, Chocolate chip pound cake, and Carrot cake, well I tasted all that cake Curlz just looked at me in shock that I could still eat Of course we told the owners about Amazing Hot Dog and they were contacting a family member to run right over and bring them lunch tracey oopse also picked up a Schmero for my husband
  21. You are reminding me of this wonderful dish I used to make all the time. It usually included a random piece of meat ...a pork chop or chicken cutlet or steak, whatever looked appropriate from the supermarket salad bar, 2 packs of ramen noodles, soy sauce, chicken stock, onion, garlic and corn starch. soak noodles in a bowl of hot water slice meat thinly, fry with garlic in a wok and remove to a plate fry onions and salad bar veg add soaked noodles and sauce ingrediants and 1 seasoning packet from ramen add meat back and thicken with cornstarch I made this for my fiance once about 6 yrs ago he said it wasnt a real Chinese stirfry and got out his cooking class notes and made me spare ribs in black bean sauce. His dish tasted just like the restaurant version we had recently had....I hated it there too we havent either dish again I am going to go heat up my last scalion pancake while the spaghetti sauce cooks. tracey
