Eating buttered toast is always a good sign of improving health isn't it! You're right...so simple and so perfect. My best to your Mom. You brought me a morning lump in my throat and memories of dipping heavily buttered toast into overly sweetened tea ...made by Grandma during sleepovers. My new favourite is toasted parmesan bread with melted gruyere on it..a great snack. I think I'll throw a toast party tonight!

In the July issue of Canadian Living Magazine MUST- READ Baking: From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan Though it's not brand new, this is one of our favourite baking books these days. The recipes are well selected and written, providing enough of a challenge for consummate bakers as well as a good introduction for those who are dipping their fingers into flour for the first time. We are loving this book in Canada!!

I sometimes use the Complete Canadian Living Cookbook. It has quite a few Canadian recipes such as Nanaimo bars, tourtiere, Saskatoon berry pie and bannock. There are some french recipes but I would say most are just ordinary everyday recipes. The direction are very clear and its easy to use. From Random House Canada. Bonnie Stern is a well respected Canadian chef who has quite a few books out.

soooooo easy!!! just slice up a bit of chorizo - I did just under 1 oz for 2 fillets. grind it up in the food processor, add 1/2 c or so bread crumbs, s & P and whir it all up together. I just put the topping on one side. the recipe was originally from F&W but I can't remember what month. so quick and easy though. ← Thanks so much I have to try this!

Hey everyone..I just got this book and am looking forward to trying these great recipes..does anyone know if there is much of a difference in non diastatic malt liquid or diastatic? I could only find the non diastatic and I'm wondering if it will work the same. Thanks.

Have you seen this Marlene? http://www.anchorsfoodfinds.com/cookers/ol...otatochips.html chip of the month club! Love it. This I didn't know... Old Dutch Chips can be frozen for longer keeping. Please keep them in the bag and unopened. The bag will expand because of the cold air. The chips will taste just as fresh as when they went into the freezer. Our recommendation is not to leave them in the freezer for more that 6-8 months past the expiration date on the bag. (If the bag as been opened, please do not put back in the freezer.)

We now own Humpty Dumpty Potato Chips as well so you will be finding that brand tasting more and more like an Old Dutch product. This is depressing...I loved Humpty Dumpty bbq chips when I was a kid..I really missed them when I moved west..never took to Old Dutch. Sigh.

I'm not sure what "medium sugar" is and I can't find a definition on google but Galloways stocks many different types of sugar and would be worth a call. ← Medium Sugar Medium Sugar is an extremely versatile bold screened sugar. It can provide crunch, visual definition and mouth-feel when used as surface decoration for biscuits; and high shine and surface texture on pastilles and jellies. Medium sugar can also be used as an ingredient to control the spread and surface texture of biscuits Found this definition on a web site for British Sugar..maybe it goes by another name too. Will call Galloways..thanks -
