    La Caja Cooking

What happens to all the juice collected in the rib cage, pre-flip? Hope it doesn't get left just to run...
  2. Do you do it as written, or do you squeeze the lemon juice over before the oil? I love the sound of this recipe, but it strikes me that the lemon would have more impact under the oil, rather than over. (I'm a lemon lover, can you tell ?)
  3. Tiny small screwdriver will usually do the trick! You know, the kind you use on a computer...
  4. Champagne, of course! And yes for the dress, too, so you have room to eat!
  5. I love a good spicy rye, dislike JD immensely, and yes, I smoke tobacco. Bourbon is my preference, but I'll take a Canadian blend if all else fails!
  6. Vlcatko, try golden raisins if they're available to you, the flavour's a bit different, especially after soaking in the pineapple juice...
  7. Shel_B, you may be considerably tall than Smithy, so your angle of attack may well vary... Just sayin'.
  8. I remember in the mid 1950's when I was learning to use silverware other than just a spoon, my mom told me that REAL Italian people used a fork ONLY, to eat spaghetti! (I was big on being like "real" whatever people were being discussed.) So I learned how. Never did master chop sticks, though...!
  9. I'll eat canned corn, in a pinch, but I always want to doctor it up with onions and stuff. Canned tomstoes are ok, as are jarred roasted peppers. Other than that, I'll eat frozen, buy fresh is WAY better!
  10. Porthos, keep them in the fridge; the chocolate melts FAST! Bill Klapp, my mother used to call those "squashed fly cookies". I loved 'em!

    What the mint?

If you're talking about single flavour oils, I don't think I'd do Wintergreen. The flavour that Wrigley's calls "Winterfresh" (the gum in the blue pack) is a proprietary mixed flavour, I think. I just don't care for wintergreen that much. It the flavour of the life savers they make that are supposed to make a spark when you bite them in the dark.
  12. Several cups of Kahlua and coffee saved my life one morning many years ago...
  13. Vlcatko, have you ever tried carrot and raisin salad? It's grated carrots, a few raisins (proportionate amount) and some canned crushed pineapple. Pretty much makes its' own dressing after a rest in the fridge, and tastes great. Very sweet, though! HTH! Don't boyher to drain the pineapple, just uxe it juice and all.
  14. LizD518, have you checked the Ocean Spray website? They're all cranberry all the time!
  15. Fudge coated raspberry oreos. Dangerous little suckers!
  16. Yes to both, at least here in Florida. Also, check with your local extension office. HTH!
  17. PBBBBBT! Spoilsport! %)

    Breakfast! 2013

Anna, that steak is my idea of breakfast heaven, but I'd probably like it even better cold! ( Long story; childhood favorite! )
  19. Chili powder can be JUST powdered chilis, or it can be a mix of chili peppers, cumin, black pepper, oregano, etc. Obviously, they're not interchangeable! Whole peppers, fresh or dried, have most of the heat in the seeds and white membranes inside. Remove those, and you have effectively tamed the pepper.
  20. "To everything there is a time, and a purpose to every season under heaven..." Linda, you and Rupert are in my thoughts.
  21. gfweb, you can add North Jersey to that list, IIRC!
  22. If you can have the use of a neighbour's oven, I'd suggest chili, cornbread and a green salad (to be dressed when served, so it won't wilt). Fruit as available over a bought pound cake (or some such) with whipped cream and a juice based sauce. HTH!
  23. Liuzhou, was that just the white of the goose egg, or was the yolk that pale?

    Breakfast! 2013

Percyn, welcome "home"! Glad to see you back!
  25. We finally got a Trader Joe's in south Florida (YEA!) The problem it's in WAY south Florida, down by SW Miami-Dade county (BOO!) It'd be an all day trip for me, and I know damn well I'd get lost! Guess I gotta wait a little longer to get one in Broward County!
