i might be wrong, but i believe tri-star is the type of berry. the farm that sells them is berried treasures. franca tantillo runs the whole operation and she's super friendly - towards the end of the season she takes the not-so-pretty berries and makes sorbet with them. they're the next best thing to fraises de bois, which you can't find in new york. smaller and plumper as opposed to slender. flesh is crimson right to the center. its the only item is flip for in new york greenmarkets. however, those purple peppers look awesome. photos of the final product, please. ← Daniel, I was there yesterday, too and found the stand with those small strawberries. They are sooooo tiny and soooooo flavourfull!! They almost didn't make it home. Purchased those small wild blueberries, too, on the opposite side near the cheese guy...and heirloom tomatoes , peaches, and purple basil. Oh, and Berried Treasures is the Jam guy at the end..Bought some wild blueberry jam.

Roasted Corn, Mango and Jicama Salad Serves 0. Found this on Food TV Network.. 4 fresh corn, shucked 1 jicama, peeled, julienned 1 mango, peeled chopped into 1/2 inch pieces 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced 1 chopped cilantro leaves Citrus vinaigrette, recipe follows Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Put the ears of corn on a baking sheet and place in the oven for 45 minutes. Remove and let cool. When the corn has cooled shuck it and stand it on end. Using a sharp knife, run the blade down the cob to cut the kernels off. Rotate the cob and repeat until all the kernels have been cut off. Combine the jicama, mango, red onion and cilantro in a large mixing bowl. Add the cooled corn, and toss with the vinaigrette. Chill until ready to serve. Citrus Vinaigrette: 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice 1 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest 2 teaspoon sugar Dash hot sauce 1 cup olive oil Salt and pepper 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro leaves In a large bowl combine the lime juice, orange juice, orange zest, sugar and hot sauce. Whisk together and slowly add the olive oil, whisking as you go. Add salt and pepper, to taste, and cilantro and whisk until combined. Yield: 1 1/4 cups I cut the oil down to a few tablespoons and it didn't hurt the flavor at all.. Keywords: Easy ( RG1769 )

Remember, these are just popularity contest votes, so it's based on diner's opinons. It just shows that the average diner has average tastes. They have very little idea of the quality of the food they are eating.

Your absolutely right, Tommy. Each was at least "a two napkin" slice. Jeff L, I totally agree. Pies only steam in those take out boxes, so I rarely do take out pies. And then, it's almost always sicilian "with very little cheese", please. (or I take the slices with the least cheese.) Why smother it in so much cheese or toppings that you can't taste what true pizza is all about..the crust and the sauce.
-
I also prefer The Reservoir to Star.
-
Uh, yes. I prefer to have my pizza, as it was intended..plain. As I said, just one person's opinion.

Sabor Latin Bistro opened a few weeks ago in Hawthorne. Upon Tommy's recommendation, I dined here, this evening with a few friends. Sampled some interesting mojitos and martinis, and shared some tapas and the Roast Suckling Pig entree. Of everything we chose, the Chino Latino Ribs with a soy glaze were the hit of the night. Other recommendations: Fresh Watermelon Martini Guava Martini ( A bit too sweet for me, but my friend raved about it ) Coconut Gelato Disappointment was the Mango Ginger Mojito. It was a little bland. I'm looking forward to dining there agian, and tasting the other items on their menu.

Sorry. I've been here and can't see what the attraction is. Too thin, too greasy, too salty.. But that's just one person's opinion.

I forgot about Richfield Farms! Thanks!

Yes, Nanyun, He is a NJ native.

My cousin is on the zoning board. I'll see if I can get any info from her.

Sounds devine. Do you make this yourself? If so, would you be willing to share the recipe?

Green and Black dark chocolate with candied ginger a match made in heaven.

Tree Liscious is the vendor I usually go to. The Rutherford Market closes by the time I get home, so Montclair is the only only close that I can buy at.
-
Absolutely, when it comes to peaches. I was dissapointed that my favorite stand at the Montclair market had very little peaches. She said it's just the begining of the season and will have them thru mid September.
-
But you can make multiple trips all week!!!
-
True, but how about a Rutgers Beefsteak? Can't think of a more Jersey tomato than that! ← You read my mind..

I also recommend Wild Ginger. Excellent Sushi.

I'd welcome any Restaurant that takes over that spot. There isn't much of a choice in the area, now.
