  1. jwjojo, That was exactly my thought...lol They were nothing special, either..
  2. This is the best place to purchase herbs. ..thyme, rosemary, sage, cilantro, tarragon. They are very fresh and very inexpensive..
  3. Stopped by today and really wasn't that impresed with the taste / quality of the cupcakes. They sure looked nice, but a bit on the small side. My friend and I each bought one. I had the yellow cake with chocolate icing and my friend had the pumpkin spice. The cake on each was a bit dry.. I won't be back.. My cupcakes are way better...lol
  4. Curlz, I just had to tease you!! I also love Denville Dairy, but have not had it in years.. Guess that means a trip!!!
  5. There's also Applegate Farms on Valley Road in Montclair.
  6. Had an excellent meal at Oceanos, last evening. For appetizers I had the Oyster Sampler and my date had the grilled Calamari; both excellent choices. I tasted the Calamari and they had a nice smoky charred flavor. It was a nice change of pace from the typical fried ones. For entrees, I chose the Swordfish with Lemon Potatoes and my date chose one of the specials, which was Shrimp and Scallops is an Asian Sauce, which he enjoyed. My swordfish was cooked to perfection. Based upon Tommy's suggestion on his website, we ordered a side of those Belgian French Fries, and they were excellent. We shared dessert which was a filo pastry filled with a light custard.... a perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Do go to Oceanos; you won't be disppointed..
  7. Dined at the Martini Grill last week... it's a favorite hangout for friends of mine..but Oceanos just might do the trick. Any preferences for entrees? ← anything that focuses on the raw ingredient, which is top-notch seafood. i usually get the lobster, which comes with very good french fries (add some salt). grilled calamari as an app is very good. oysters are generally served well. the meats don't do too much for me (although the lamb chops are good), but it is a seafood restaurant. ← Was able to obtain a 7:30 reservation.. I'll give a full report.. Thanks!
  8. Thanks Curlz, pizza just wont do for this birthday, although it's definitely on my list. Appreciate the suggestion.

    Toast

    Pricey aren't they...
  12. Although, it's good, I wouldn't say Fortunato's is quite on a par with restaurants like Cafe Matisse and Nicholas. These two are definitely on the top of the list.
  13. The place at Sandy Hook State Park is called the Seagull's Nest. It's a fun place..with great ocean views. http://www.seagullsnest.info/
  14. There's one at Sandy Hook beach, but I can't recall the name of it. Perhaps someone else, here, can. They serve the standard bar food, and have live music.

Austrian gruner veltliner. This is one of my favorite wines, if you see any schloss gobbelsburg produced snap it up, its great. ← "Austrian..not Australian" Thanks for the recommendation. I'll be sure to look for it.

    Wine pairing needed

I'm well aware that asparagus is not wine friendly. I will go with the Australian Gruner Vetliner and a Zinfandel for the rest of the meal asparagus salad manicotti ( we're italian) Leg of lamb roasted with lemon jiuce, baby artichokes and yukon gold potatoes ( no garlic) Fava beans sauteed with prosciutto, garlic and mint Easter wheat pie
  19. As an appetizer I am serving a cold asparagus salad with blood oranges with a blood orange vinaigrette. What wine do I serve with this?
  20. May I third that emotion over Gina's? The brioche bread is a staple in our house. The apple turnover the best I've had (I really want to know how he makes that super thin sugar crust). Not as fond of his buttercream layercakes...but you could stick a birthday candle in his prosciutto bread and make me very happy! Their scones (golden raisin and pecan, esp) are exemplary, as well. I am keen to go the Balthazar bakery in Englewood...is that worth it? ← Also, another vote for Gina's. Love his whole wheat bread. That is a staple in my home, as well. Ditto on the corn muffins..
  21. Petite Pastisserie in Dumont. Excellent!
  22. Bonefish is not of the caliber of Legal Seafood. You pick your fish, and have a choice of three sauces. nuf said. They do make great drinks, though
