  1. Also looking for places that are open in the Passaic, Bergen or Morris county area..
  2. It would be a long camp out. They are opening the first week of November.
  3. Yikes! 1/4 Lb butter... and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper. lol
  4. Here's the recipe we have been using for many, many years: 2 lbs lobsters 1 cup breadcrumbs (soft, 2 slices) 14 lb butter (softened) 1 tsp salt 12 tsp pepper 1 tsp tarragon 2 tsps vegetable oil 1. Preheat oven to 450F degrees. 2. Split Lobsters in half lengthwise. 3.Remove dark strip if present. 4.Remove the coral and liver to a medium bowl. 5.To coral and roe, add bread crumbs and butter, salt, pepper and taragon. 6.Put mixture in cavaties of lobster, drizzle with vegetable oil. 7.Bake for 25 minutes or until browned.
  5. Wow. I've never seen that. It's amazing!
  6. That''s what I've done in the past, but for some reason the last few yrs, I've been having a hard time finding them. I also use the roe in the stuffing, with butter, breadcrumbs and tarragon. It's awfully good, that way.
  7. I will be preparing baked stuffed lobsters for Xmas Eve and the recipe calls for female lobsters. The roe of the female lobster is incorporated into the stuffing. Anyone know of a purveyor that would have them in the northern NJ area?
  8. Clifton Smashburger opened last week, on Route 3 West, just before the Promenande.
  9. I am meeting a friend for lunch, who is visiting in Glenwood. She is willing to come down as far as Wayne to meet me. Can someone recommend a decent place for lunch..not overly expensive, please.
  10. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but.. When I go out for dinner at an upscale restaurant, I expect attentive, but not over attentive, service. I don't want my waiter hovering, checking out my every move. Please have some kind of amuse bouche to curb the appetite, while the chef is preparing my appetizer. Good quality, warm, fresh bread is always appreciated. Please list prices on your specials, or have the waiter mention them, if he is reciting them. It's not nice to be shocked when the bill is presented. Please check and replace my utensils, if they were taken away after the previous course. Please teach to serve from the right and clear from the left. I think it's been forgotten in too many places. Please don't take my plate away when I have just taken my last bite and haven't even put my fork down. Please do not make me feel like you are in a rush to turn over the table. I do like to linger, just a bit, ..not a lot, just a little. Please make sure the waiter refrains from saying "do you want change?" Just make the dining experience one to remember.
  11. Thanks Tracey, Knew I could count on my egullet friends . :-) Will have to find out if it opened yet. Karen
  12. Curlz, I definitely need to get over there. Have you made a trip to Princeton to The Bent Spoon, yet?
  13. I've been going to the Fairway in Paramus on Sunday morning, so no traffic nightmares. I did purchase French apricots, so they might now carry your prunes.
  14. Lucky you. All of these are 25 minutes away from me.
  15. amazing Hot Dog closed their other location? What happened?
  16. Hi Donna Marie, i heard about this last fall and am also curious. How much does this one cost? Karen
  17. I just reread my last word...I can't believe I actually said that Rachael Ray term. Please forgive me.
  18. Is it as good as Fage? I tried others, but prefer Fage, so far.
  19. Was there last evening for the first time, but I will definitely go back. Had the dumplings and the seafood salad for appetizers. The dumplings were plump gobs of pork and nicely spiced. The seafood salad is a must have. It consisted of scallops, shrimp and calamari in a dark soy and rice wine vinegar sauce along with various vegetables, mint and cilantro. It was great. Warning.. this dish is spicy. I loved the spice, while my friend thought it a bit too hot. For entrees, we ordered pad thai, which was good and crispy duck with broccoli. I highly recommend this dish. It said broccoli, but is didn't look or taste like american broccoli..it was more like rape greens. and it was fried crispy.. delish.
  20. I went this morning at about 9 :30 am and it was fine...not too crowded yet. One thing that aggravates me is that they refuse to make any ORGANIC rotisserie chickens in the morning. I spoke to the owner and he said " at the end of the day, more Organics are left over, so we don't make as many" . Well, my answer to that is..you can't buy what isn't there. I was there twice looking for Organics and none to be found.. Regarding other items, I found them to be cheaper here..for instance, 15 oz Fage yogurt is 4.29. That's the best price I've seen anywhere.
  21. I had a similar experience, Ghost...but the gals in the nail salon say it's being reopened by new owners "in April." I also think I heard one of the customers say that the wine shop is going to be a wine bar or place w/apps as well as a store...?!? If it's true, that would be a nice addition to the area too. I see sporadic work in there. In other news, yesterday I drove past the former site of Fortunato...the new sign says Pizza Margherita and something about "Old Fashion" I give anyone opening a restaurant a lot of props, but signage with such glaring errors gives me great pause. Plus, do we really need MORE pizza in Lyndhurst? Only if it's like this--the real deal. But I'm skeptical. SIGH... ← It's yet another Italian Resto...like we need another one in Lyndhurst.. Friends were there the other night and said it was good.
