  2. I would think it would do better on Park Ave. Much more walk in traffic, there.
  3. Delcious Orchards for local produce of the finest quality. They also have a meat and poultry section. I second the idea of Bobolink. I purchased my Thanksgiving Turkey from Vacchiano Farms and it was superb. They also tend to free range chickens and well as Lamb, beef, quail..
  4. I purchase wonderful candied ginger from Whole Foods. I chop it up and add it to my cranberry sauce. Also just nibble on it. It's a great digestive.

  6. What's the Cranberry Crunch? My Cranberry, Candied Ginger and Kumquat is also a raw relish. They are a refreshing change.
  7. JPR54, where can you purchase a Heritage turkey? ← there are a bunch of online sources (google "heritage turkey"). or, Kings seems to carry one type now. the newly re-vamped Kings has some pleasant surprises. ← Saw them in WF in West Orange, yesterday. Guess they are really becoming popular. Read an article regarding them and it stated that the breast is quite lean, and if not cooked properly , it tends to be dry.

  10. Cook, this is one of my favorite things on the PLANET! Where are you buying it around here? I always have to con my dad in to bringing it up from Maryland...of course, then I also don't end up paying for it, but that's another story! I've never seen it in northern NJ. Curlz ← Curlz, After looking high and low for it, including Shoppers Vineyard, I actually bought it in NYC at Morrell's. My cousin lives in Hoboken, and she had Sparrow Wine & Liquor order a case for her..Do you think we love this stuff, too??
  11. This is for three? ← LOL...Would you believe YES ?? My brother is a chef, so dinners are not simple. :-) I have my "assignments" , so it's not all on him. Also..It's always nice to make more and have plenty of leftovers to enjoy on the weekend.

  15. Gee, we're only three at the table this year..
  16. Bro and I are planning the menu, this weekend.. I'll advise then.
  17. Restaurant Nicholas and sit at the bar.
  18. Went to Spring Grill on Friday evening and had a great meal. It's a family owned business and Sara, our hostess was eager to please. For starters we ordered the vietnamese summer rolls with duck. Very good, indeed. For his entree, my friend asked if they could make a dish called "drunken noodles", as it was not on the menu. It's his favorite thai dish and he was looking forward to having it. Sara informed us that her mother would definitely make it..and did he want it spicy. He said, yes, and it was "spot on" in terms of just the right spice, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I choose one of the specials" Red Snapper" prepared with ginger. It was presented beautifully with a mound of veggies on top. Included were chili peppers which gave it a nice "kick". Dessert was a pumpkin custard. Delightfully refreshing after a spicy meal. It's a wonder why this place is not packed. Perhaps it is their limited menu. Now we know that if you don't see it on the menu, just ask and they would be happy to prepare it. We have told "MOM"..next time, no menu..she just cooks for us.! GO and enjoy!!

    Just thought I'd bump this..
  20. Now I remember where it is located. It's where The Sweet Sisters Bakery used to be.
  21. You have to make a trip to get one of those Bearded Papa Creme Puffs. They are to die for!
  22. Curlz, You just reminded me to make a stop at Applegate Farms on my way to the Farmer's market, this morning! I wait all year to get this flavor. Is Denville Dairy's better? The "Bro" lives in Montville and I can make him pick up a pint...maybe a quart.. I also make a "mean" pumpkin cheesecake...haven't in years because we have tried to cut calories. However, I think it needs to be resurrected, this year.
  23. Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck has a great Bakery Dept. Their pies are excellent and they have a vast assortment..apple, dutch apple, pumpkin, mince meat, coconut custard, etc..as well as the best apple cider donuts in NJ!
  24. I understand it is still a work in progress, so only time will tell how successful The Pier will be.
