  1. 6 cups of pomegrante juice would be quite pricey. I do know of a middle eastern store on Summit Ave in Hasbrouck Height, behind the Crows Nest. I'll try there. Thanks!
  2. Was at Chef Central this past weekend, and they didn't have it.

Don't know how they found me, but I received a catalog from Upton, today! :-) WOW what a selection. So many teas to try...
  4. After a few cleanings, I found that if I immediately filled the top with water and let it sit for a short while, it was much easier to get rid of the milk residue. Love my Mukka Espress!
  5. I've been seeing a lot of recipes that call for pomegranate molasses, but haven't seen it in my local supermarket or at Whole Foods. Know where I can obtain it?
  6. Are you making milk coffee or the "cappuccino"? Either way, make sure you screw the top part on tightly. Even when I thought it was on tightly, it wasn't and the water leaked out. And if you're making cappuccino and not milk coffee, make sure you use the water amount for cappuccino. I accidentally used the milk coffee amount the first time I made it, and it spilled out over the top! Finally, they suggest cleaning the pot asap because of the milk. I suggest running the whole pot under cool water to cool it down, then remove the black pressure thing, then screw off the bottom. The bottom does not come off easily unless the black pressure thing is off. I learned that the hard way! I'm almost done with my pot of Illy, and am planning to try Lavazza next. Even a large-ish tin of Illy doesn't last very long with this pot. I've been using the regular roast, but I find the flavour of the coffee to be a bit weak, so I'm going to try the dark roast after the Lavazza. Last thing, watch the video if you haven't already and if you don't have any kind of moka pot experience. I had no idea how to use the pot, and found the instruction booklet to be a little confusing, but the video was very clear. ← Thanks for the tips. Yes, I have always used a moka pot for regular espresso, so I guess I have some basic knowledge. My first pot turned out pretty good, although I also thought it was a touch weak. The Lavazza espresso "gold" grind is very very fine, almost powdery. I mounded it, so that when the top was screwed on, it tamped it down. Nice froth, and I can see what everyone is saying about cleaning it immediately. Those milk solids harden fast, if left even for a short while.
  7. Is "coarse" the setting on the grinding machine at Whole Foods? I'm thinking of trying some fresh beans. Also, you use their french roast, rather than the espresso roast?
  8. I need a recommendation for a recipe in this month's Cooking Light. It's a pork tenderlion stew with tomatoes, white wine, fennel, onions, and nicoise olives. Seasoning is fresh thyme.
  9. I am sooooooo excited!! Chef Central sent me a 20% coupon in the mail. So off I went to buy my Mukka Cappuccino Pot... Couldn't decide whether to buy the cow print or the stainless steel, but ended up with the stainless.. Can't wait to try it!! Even bought Lavazza, per everyone's recommendations. Thanks so much. Any secrets on making my first batch?

I've just started drinking tea myself, but I always thought tea bags weren't considered a "proper" way to make tea? They sure are a lot more convenient in a business setting though. Any suggestions? SB ← There are several Asians in my Dept at work, and they always drink loose tea. They don't seem to mind, and they are always offering samples for me to taste.

Two great tea sites: www.harneyandsons.com and www.republicoftea.com Foe herbal teas, Harney has the best raspberry tea I have ever had. It's addictive. I've also purchased green jasmine tea and use it for iced tea.. At Republic of Tea, try some of the chai's...and their honey ginseng is also quite good. Everyone has different likes and dislikes. Just buy in small quantities. Republic has what they call traveling tins, which have four bags, which is great for trying out a new type. Enjoy!
  12. Just found this thread and it reminded me of a tour that I took a few years back to Napa and Sonoma County. On the tour, I became friendly with a lovely couple and a teacher from Florida. At one dinner we engaged in together, the teacher had a lively discussion with the Sommelier and insisted on drinking Sauternes with her entree. He politely obliged. During the tour, we visited five wineries and enjoyed some wonderful tastings. The last evening we celebrated a 5 course dinner coupled with the most wonderful wines from a boutique winery. After this meal was over, she announced that she had finally come to a conclusion. She hated wine!
  13. Daruma is not in the same class as Wild Ginger. Not by a long shot..

  17. Sorry to hear such sad news. My heart goes out to you........
  18. Glad you enjoyed it! Think I'll head over there for lunch, today.
  19. Beth you won't be disappointed! This and SOB (Silver oak bistro) are on the top of my "go to" lists when we go out again to eat as a couple, hubby and I. We only go out once a month so it has to be good. I'm also considering The Chart House - I hope it's good too! So it'll be Fortunato's, SOB & TCH! in some order. ← My recollection of the Chart House was that, while the view was great, the food was just mediocre. However, that was years ago, and I have not been back since. Anyone dine there. lately?
  20. When in Lyndhurst try Jo Jo's for the best regular type pizza around. When I was growing up, my great aunt's summer home was around the corner from a "Pizza/ tavern". Her best friend, an old Italian lady, and I mean old Italian Lady..( she was tough!!!) made the pizzas. There was this wonderful smell wafting from this place when you walked in. I can't describe it, but wow the pizzas were the best !!! Well, one day I walked into Jo Jo's and OMG, it was the same smell!! I was back there in that pizza tavern, all over again!!! Need I say more.
  21. Crown Palace is excellent. There also was a place in Red Bank on Front St..can't recall the name. That was good for Sechuan food.
  22. Whole Foods definitely carries it.
  23. Lotsa bagel joints on this list...
  24. I'm on my own, this year. No sweetie to celebrate with :-( But that doesn't mean I can't indulge..Bought some Champlain chocolates at Whole Foods when I was there on Friday, and had some Aztec hot chocolate, this afternoon in front of my roaring fireplace! Aztec hot chocolate has cayenne pepper in it. A Spicy YUM!!
