  1. If we were forced at gunpoint to drink Chardonnays with steak dinners and mountain-grown Cabernets with mountain oysters, I'd be screaming a different tune.
  2. We all tend to drink what we like. It's only lately that I would even taste Pinot. It's only lately that Merlot which was an early favorite has some body to it again. I remember when it was the red wine for people who didn't like red wine.

    Kenwood vintage red or white. Should be able to find it for 6-7 $ at Safeway or most other places. Good consistent quality inexpensive wine.

    Mumm started yesterday so we're 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule. My group will pick Sav Blac early Sept. Then the reds will come. Champagne; whites then reds. Any idea's Carolyn since your in another county and higher than us? I'm in Sonoma.
  5. I have the spare bedroom in my house with an air conditioner in the window thats for the wine I make myself (about 90 cases a year). For the really good stuff my girlfriend bought a town house with a room fully insulated with a breezeaire unit. That's the way to go.
  6. Garden Court Cafe in the town of Glen Ellen. The best biscuits and gravy. Weekend breakfast special are always good. Crepes and fruit that sort of thing.
  7. All depends where your staying and how you like to drive.
  8. Why is a small pour important? If the bottle is corked, there's no difference between a small pour and a big pour...its all getting dumped. Where I live it's getting returned and replaced. Maybe not the exact same vintage but something close.

  10. You can get a dual fuel range ;Electric convection and gas cooktop. Just got a Sears bottom drawer freezer with 2 door top that opens full width. It' very nice and very useful. and it has an icemaker.

    Domestic sparklers

    Has anyone else tried the Frank Family wines? They are just north of St Helena at the old Hans Kornell winery on Larkmead lane. Sparkling and still wines. Great tasting room and excellent wines.

  21. END GRAIN MAPLE is the only cutting board to use. Corian tears up your knives and you should always cut on a board not your countertop unless you want to make me rich. I do countertops.$100 will get you a 3.5 inch thick end grain maple that you maintain with mineral oil.
  22. I make up a cheese, salami and cracker plate when I stop and then nosh along the way with water to drink. I had a rider last week so he made the appetizers up as we went along. Stock up where you can.

    Do you have a Kitchen aid stand mixer? You can get the meat grinder sausage maker. $40 is not a lot for what you want to do.
