Should have bought one of these. I'll vouch for it being the best investment I ever made. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...MainCatcat20075

Tipsy Black Beans from James Beard's American Cookery. Don't have a link see if you can find the book in the library or pm me and I'll send it. Don't know if it qualifies as Kosher but it sure is good.

That looks just like mine. A very successful experiment GF will have to wait to taste tomorrow so I'd better not eat all of it by myself. After all it's her crock-pot.

Very Impressive! Wanna come live with me when I win the Lottery? You have set a high standard. -
It's been in for 1 hour and lucky I have an engagement elsewhere as my eyes are starting to water. I'll put the fan on low. Had me crying as I sliced them. More later. What does done look like? 7 hours and went to low, more tomorrow.

I have borrowed the GF's crock-pot and will begin the adventure shortly. I'm using Marlene's recipe and will hopefully post pictures. Planning on a pork roast tomorrow to have it with.

Q&A -- Understanding Stovetop Cookware
winesonoma replied to a topic in The eGullet Culinary Institute (eGCI)
You should do some research and buy something that you can pass down to your children. Unless the nonstick is all you care about. If so go to the local restaurant supply and buy one. Good cookware is a thing of joy. -
good points!!! and good post.. But infact i have to disagree with you, i would say that this movie plays on the "intellectuals" eogtism. I wouldnt call this movie unitellectual, i would call it intellectual porn.. This bolsters these people and further proves their superiority over the common man.. This tells them that them and only them are the ones responsible for the well being of such sloths..These intellects are responsible for taking care of the common man who has no choice but to succumb to the advertisements and will of the powerful corporate monsters. And your right, no person yells out for the labeling of the harms of fois gras, because its obvious to them, if someone could afford it, then they obviously are intelligent to know its harms. ← No in California they called for Foie Gras to be banned and succeeded. Don't go after the big guys.

In January Coturri will be releasing what may be the best wine they ever made; a Syrah, Movedere, and Grenache Blend. I tasted it today at lunch and it is spectacular. My partner is the grape grower. I'll post more as I get label info. -

All I remember about that was in Nevada and it was over salted. Good Picon Punch, though you can no longer get AmerPicon in the States.

Did you order the pig or do you think that the local market stocks them? Not a good idea if you've never done it before.

Stop in Mill Valley for lunch. Best deal is Jennie Lows lunch special. Pick up goodies at Mill Valley market and your on your way. First rule for me is out of the city and on my way.

Isn't it obvious...partially hydrogenated oils in a tub, or the cream in a can that tastes like propellants and is too fluffy. We always used to do fresh whipped cream for Thanksgiving pies, or St. Pat's Irish coffee, and as ridiculousy simple as that is, that kind of spoils you for the other options. I'm a whipped-cream evangelist. It's fun to see the look on people's faces when they taste a dollop of something that looks like CoolWhip, but tastes incredible. Yes, it's freaky. ← OK - This "Whipped Cream" sounds really good. Do you have a recipe? ← Buy whipping cream, whip

What a shame. He could have broadened his horizons and found a new creative outlet. Just go out so you don't have to even clean up.

Yes it is the finishing the granite. Round overs, polishing, etc. Cutting is easy with a diamond blade grinder.
-
Gee if I went would they stare at me too? 56 overweight white male. Got my hair though. Always up for all kinds of female attention.
-
Easier to put in a new cook-top as the cuts in the granite are hidden. Cutting the granite is not a problem. Finishing in the field is. Get a really nice Gas cook-top and separate oven.

Count the drawers. I was shocked to find after we moved in we had one 10" wide drawer in the kitchen.

Better go back east, we don't do Blue crab. I grew up there and I love it but your not gonna find it here. Dungeness crabs rule.

Only time I ever used it was in a upscale quaint Hotel. GF had a business trip and I tagged along. Check out monday is 11 am. Her meeting ends at 1 pm , I sit in the lobby for 3 hours. Got 2 bars upstairs till 11 then went down stairs and had a T1 line speed. Never opened my book. Front deck came by and asked me about the service etc. Saw me watching a short movie and suddenly realized that the Hotel had a network that anybody could access. Not an advertised perk. Hope they keep it.
