Here is a link to the recipe I used. It was fast and only used one pan! I added the mushrooms because I had them. https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1020306-glazed-cod-with-bok-choy-ginger-and-oyster-sauce?action=click&module=Local Search Recipe Card&pgType=search&rank=1 Last night, husband and nephew had burgers and hot dogs. My sister and I opted for bacon, tomato, avocado sandwiches

Happy Birthday Shelby! Wellfleet oysters are the best 🙂 Another good source for Wellfleet oysters is Mac's Seafood. He usually runs specials around the holidays. https://www.macsseafood.com/shop/fresh-seafood/all-our-shellfish

Grilled striped bass and halibut that we brought back from Wellfleet, topped with garlic mustard butter. Sautéed spinach and crispy oven roasted purple potatoes that came in my CSA box this week.

This is the last takeout dinner you will see from me in a long time. We are heading home tomorrow. Back to home cooking! Shrimp spring rolls to share I got a grilled romaine salad with shrimp. It turned out that I was not in the mood for shrimp after all, so my husband and his brother ate them. The guys split a ton of fried seafood--oysters, calamari, and fish. This is one guy's plate! Final Wellfleet sunset for me in 2020. We are already booked for multiple weeks in 2021.

Cooking vacation continues with sushi takeout. We picked every shrimp option on the menu. I could not finish all of this, but I know my husband's brother will eat it in the middle of the night 🙂

I had a bigger one in Disney's (of course) France pavilion. That is a larger than full size popsicle stick. It was shared between seven people! A few breakfasts this week. BLT Pan con tomate One egg omelet, toast

My sister and nephew headed back to our house on Sunday as sister had to go back to work, so my husband, husband's brother and myself took advantage of a rare opportunity to consume crustaceans without fear of triggering my nephew's allergy. This is takeout from Mac's Shack in Wellfleet. I am on a mini vacation from cooking. Steamers Fried shrimp Steamed lobster Lobster gnocchi

Ha! Have you ever been to PB Boulangerie in Wellfleet? Same damn thing. One time I was waiting in the interminable line and this guy pushed all the way up to the front and started yelling "All I want is a loaf of bread! What do I have to do to get a loaf of fucking bread??" I yelled back: "Go to the end of the line! We are all in line for a loaf of fucking bread!" Wait...he had a New York accent. Was it you? 😆

Last night my sister, my husband and I got a seven course dinner takeaway from our favorite restaurant in Wellfleet, Ceraldi https://www.ceraldicapecod.com The food comes completely cooked, but chilled, so you have to reheat it. That worked out great because we were able to stagger the courses over time. First course, focaccia with olive and pine nut tapenade. We opted to split one piece three ways and save the other two for a different meal (the picture is of one slice before I divided it). The tapenade was incredibly flavorful. Second course, local greens salad with beet dressing. The picture is of one serving. We dressed two servings and split it three ways Third course, corn soup. This looks like nothing but it was so delicious! It was vegan but tasted very rich and creamy. We opted to split this soup three ways so I have two servings left for another meal. Fourth course, arancini stuffed with mushrooms and cheese, with a hubbard squash butter sauce. We split two of the arancini and saved one for another meal. We all agreed that the arancini was a little bland but the hubbard squash butter was incredible. I ended up abandoning the arancini and just eating the sauce Fifth course, penne with smoked tomato sauce, parmigiano, and herbed ricotta. We split one serving three ways (photo is of one serving before splitting). It was delicious, but we were starting to flag and really wanted to eat the next course. Sixth course, striped bass with potato puree and leek sauce. Delicious. I could not fish mine though despite trying very hard. Final course, apple pear strudel with sea salt caramel sauce. We each had one bite because we were STUFFED. I am not a big sweets person so did not think much of this. Husband said it went very well with coffee. We have enough leftovers for at least two more meals. My favorite course was the soup, followed by the salad and the focaccia.

Had to get some oysters, pre-sunset After, I made frutti di mare, minus shrimp. This is my sister's which has lobster, mine did not. Another post-sunset picture. The artificial lighting in this house is not conducive to food photos 😞

We got takeout sushi tonight to take a break from cooking and cleanup. Waited until after sunset to take the picture again. Happy October

Yeah the scallops at low tide are so cool to see. If you pick one up it starts snapping at you. The permitting office is closed for the season, and I am never going back there again anyway after waiting in line for three hours to get a beach sticker a few years ago. There were 12 people in front of me! It was ridiculous. Now I wait until after sticker hours are over to go to the public beaches and gladly pay for the local fisherpeople's harvest 🙂 Tonight, I had some haddock, and planned to cook it in a stew with leeks, fennel, and tomatoes. But husband asked for a fish sandwich with remoulade. So, fish sandwich it was. Stew moved to Friday. There won't be any fish in the markets tomorrow because the wind has been blowing gale force since last night. Not sure what is going on, there is no system on the radar that I can see.

I have not foraged for mushrooms. I am not confident enough to do that. I have seen them growing on the side of the road on the way in to Provincetown, and have seen people picking them. I have gone in to the salt marsh to harvest sea beans. There are tons of clams and oysters in front of the house, but you need a commercial permit to take them legally so we just get them at the fish market.

Grilled swordfish tacos We went to a new-to-us beach today for a long walk. Ballston Beach in Truro. Absolutely gorgeous. I was struck by this house on dunes edge. I wonder how many years it has before it goes down the cliff. Dune erosion is a huge issue on the Outer Cape. There was a single storm a few years ago that eroded 30 feet of dune on the ocean side of Wellfleet.

Another multiple meal night here. My sister and my husband both wanted fried seafood, so they got take out fried whole belly clams, fried calamari, and fries. My nephew really wanted takeout from his favorite pizza place, but they were not answering the phone, so he settled for a prosciutto, arugula, and fresh mozzarella sandwich. I wanted (close to) vegetarian so made a sort of banh mi with an omelet flavored with fish sauce, cilantro and chili, and pickles made from carrot and watermelon radish, plus sriracha mayo and cilantro. I only took a picture of my sandwich. The bread is not right but I use what I can get these days.

Seared scallops with roasted sweet potatoes, joi choy, and ginger lime butter. Wonky lighting since we waited to eat until after the sunset.
