This is what I have often thought but never verbalized ... thanks for saying it!

proven innocent when no charges were filed? since when does one need to prove his innocence? isn't it incumbent upon the state to prove some form of guilt?? Victims and recipes in the same sentence don't work for me. Being convicted in the court of public opinion would make for a lot of otherwise innocent people being found "guilty" ... and I, for one, think with your feelings so close to the surface on this, that you should avoid making anything without first checking the chef/originator's legal records ... looking for alleged convictions prior to making a recipe for my dinner? Nope, takes too damned long .... Court TV or eG? you decide ... now I am uncomfortable with making my recipe from Scott Peterson ... should I await a verdict before making it??

The article The Australians and Americans have experienced success in selling wine in England primarily because they use excellent branding and rely upon grape types. Apparently, the French have lost their former popularity because they have traditionally relied upon geography and pedigree when they produce their wines. Is it possible that the trend in England has already been in evidence elsewhere? Is Australian wine the best buy for the money now? There is a list at the end of the article which names the top selling brands. a bit more on this story from The Scotsman

Well, just for a start, "cukes" ...

Dryden, after viewing that beautiful bagel with its exquisite lox, I now must retreat to my local favorite deli to continue the gestaldt experience ... you have appealed to my most salacious, prurient culinary interests and I need immediate relief!! ... but thanks for the closeup ... is this the food equivalent of a centerfold??

This is from a recent article in the Charlotte Creative Loafing and is yet another observation on today's bagels: The whole truth: the demise of the bona fide bagel much of which is described by the posters in this thread ... I enjoyed the article and hope you will as well ... just another small voice crying out in the bagel wilderness ... and I did laugh at his description of the Winnebagels!!

as opposed to what exactly? a bad stir? but I forgive him his imperfections because of his baby face and sweet smile ... and, of course, his knowledge of cuisine ...

This is a thread from the Southeast Forum and has some delightful answers to your inquiry ... take a look: the ultimate southern breakfast Hope you enjoy the ideas here!

Alternate lifestyle? Shouldn't we be politically correct and cheer this person on for being "left brained, highly original, creative, innovative"? Or is that simply one of those bagel perverts who have evil intentions?? My husband still cuts his baked potato vertically, leaving no surface area for all the cool toppings ... eccch ...

I see nothing strange at all about it ... dinnertime at my home looks reasonably similar ....

The thread on women and food has now devolved, or evolved if you will, enough to give me brain fodder to begin this new thread on sexiest food scenes on film .. The very first that comes to mine is, of course, and I hope you are old enough to remember Fielding's Tom Jones and the lusty scene of him devouring a meal with a toothsome, buxom wench ... for the young, this is worth renting .. Albert Finney and a cast of gorgeous women ... cavorting and eating and more cavorting ... does anyone even use that word any longer?? Whateverrrrr ... (Note here: Tom Jones was not a lounge singer in Vegas with curly hair and an open neck leisure suit!! ) Your favorite scenes, please, that rocked your libido?? still around .. Tom Jones, the video

Kosher bagel nazi ... now that is definitely an oxymoron!!

Having a lawyer for a mom didn't give me much help in writing song lyrics as you can see ... but I know enough to know that food consumed on the premises of a restaurant, irrespective of its origin, may well be considered "their liability" ... however, she did teach me the word "irrespective" and at 5, I sounded like Judge Benjamin Cardozo, blithely reciting court decisions to my annoyed, bored kindergarten classmates ...

Which is precisely why my father, who served in the military on Iwo Jima in WWII, told me the Americans used it as the secret password to determine if the individual approaching them at night was Japanese .. if the person could not pronounce "lollapalooza" properly, they knew he/she was not an American ... true story ... will never forget it. Just "googled" lollapalooza, and then Japanese, and then WW II .. all I wound up with was a lotta stuff on the rock bands' tour ...

You do take a breath when you say that very long sentence, don't you? The main thing I got from it is that you live somewhere other than NYC ... you wanna buy a "conjunction"?? Love, Vanna

a bit of bagel humor, if you will indulge me ... Actually, and this is the truth, Rabbi Ribeye once wrote a hilarious piece on bagels, the real versus the ersatz ones .. it will be in TDG one day soon.

Below you will see my initial post in this thread ... which was my very first thought .. liability: (as the daughter of a lawyer) (to the tune of "Happy Birthday to you" I just might sue, I well might sue, With lawyers on staff, It's curtains for you.

To prevent puff pastry from shrinking while in the oven, I often sprinkle slightly with a few drops of water. Don’t sprinkle any water if you are using sugar, or it will form sticky caramel. Possibly helpful?

These are not so new ... some of the originals had a picture of Osama on them ...

That is a very long wait .. from 2001!! I thought I hated waiting in line for a nice bathroom but 3 years???
