Fried garlic rice is a staple of a Filipino Breakfast... so I would say

GARLIC

And a damn good breakfast staple at that!

Call me old school, but I'm terribly fond of roasted garlic smooshed onto a piece torn from a crusty baguette and eaten with strawberries and melted... brie

BTW, thanks for the list, jackal!

hmmmm. i've gotten confused. ither we are following truffle honey in which case i'll say: gorgonzola.

or......

we are following foie gras (ahhhhhh) in which i'll say:

two kinds or even three kinds of grapes all together! (deglazed in the pan with a little late harvest wine.)

two or three kinds of grapes, in combination

Hehe, now I get to tie in to that 2007 predictions thread, and the dinner thread. Last night I served pork tenderloin with a lovely glaze made from

prickly pear fruit

Since prickly pear is our national fruit (Sabra), then I will say, prickly pear cheesecake, so....

Cream cheese, even though we use a different kind of white cheese to make our cheesecakes here.

Going by jackal's list, condensed milk is a double. So we're still at cardamom... which is one of the spices in chai.

I've had some lovely desserts made from tapioca pearls, and flavored with saffron, amongst other things.

Plus crab (and other sea-goodies) for paella.

saffron tagliatelle.....tender and golden, with strands of zucchini all bathed in cream.......(with a grating of parmesan, natch)

where do we stand on thick luscious cream.

ooops, tapped in at the same time, so i'd say, substitute crab for the zucchini and continue as we were?

Crab. Okay. Some Sri Lankan friends of ours regularly made us a heavenly crab curry when they invited us over for dinner, a main ingredient of which is coconut cream.

Note: Differentiated from coconut milk which is already on the list.
